We've reached a decision. It all goes down on Thursday. Now my partner is saying he wants to give some notice. I'm of the opinion that I'll do that only under certain conditions -- like no new work, pay me up front, don't mess with me taking my files. Either way, I'm either one foot out the door on Thursday or both feet out the door. It's starting to feel good.

Nope, no damage. The front left tire was buried into the fender well, but nothing broke. The front passenger spring is loose in this situation(that actually happens a lot) and it's just rattling around in it's perches.

Matt - you are one crazy driver - your Jeep must really take a pounding sometimes. Shoot, I wouldn't even hike around some of those places you are riding. I wish my Accord could do the same :lol.

OK y'all - the Vikings are taking on the Fudge-Packers this weekend, and even though this is the Alpine thread (which just happens to be in WI) dammit - if there is one thing Bears and Vikings fans agree on is that we HATE the Packers! So, we are going into Lambeau a little shorthanded, and reeling. Man do I need a big win for the Vikings. Watch and root for my beloved Purple and Gold to destroy the Packers (not a prediction).

Oh, Brian - GOOD LUCK! Hope everything works out pain free!

Jamon - very jealous, the snow should be good to soon! I always remember when the first resort opens out west, and we always have a ski slope open one run around the same time. In fact, we had another frost last night, which means th ski slopes will start making snow!!! I love the snow!

Funny thing is, you can't have a non-compete clause for attorneys in Illinois. Public policy is that clients have the ultimate right to select their attorney and non-compete clauses would effectively destroy that right. My boss is just being an ass. When he went solo, he was a partner at a very large and well-known firm. He said he gave them one-month notice (we're giving 3 weeks). You mean to tell me that he never once called a client and told them he was leaving??? My ass. :twak

3. Yes...and sounds like things are heating up.
4. They have increased security this year at the dome and the dome has announced they will not allow people from the upper deck to move down once the 4th quarter starts. Well, if thigs go as well as they have all year, all of the Iowa fans will already be in the lower level! Detroit Rock City watch out, here come the 6-5 Golden Gophers :(.
5. FSN North (MSC) replayed the Wild v. Dallas game from the first season, ya know, the 6 - 1 crushing the Wild put on the Stars! I HATE NORM GREEN!!!

Way to go Johan, and thanks for the support here with my beloved Twins. There is always next season, and as long as they resign the key players, we will have no plroblem winning our 4th consecutive division! Win Twins!

For all that care, I was fired today after I caught my boss trying to make a move on one of my contingent fee cases after we agreed it was my file to take. After I tried to take that file along with my wife's file with me, he decided to attempt to tackle me (40 y.o. male ~ 130lbs) and called the police claiming that I was stealing firm property. 3 police officers come and escort me off the premises without the files. My wife sent him a termination letter but he is still trying to dick her around and her case is set to be tried next week. What a fucking loser!!! On top of that, he chose to fire my partner (figured that was going to happen) and our 24-year-old paralegal who gave over a month notice today and is buying a home in less than a month. WHAT A PRICK!!!!! But at least this will light the fire under my ass and now I work for myself. I'll be celebrating tonight with a nice bottle of Grey Goose.

Yeah, I'll help. It'll be a well coordinated and flawlessly executed operation(now known as Operation Budweiser) utilizing no less than 14 operatives divided into two teams of 6 and one team consisting of a sniper and a spotter. The first team, now known as Team Python(headed by me) will descend the elevator shaft and breach the doors using a shape charge. We will secure the reception area and set a perimeter to eliminate any guards that happen upon our activities.

Team 2, now known as Team Bunny Rabbit(headed by Crumbo) will first cut the power to the complex and then come through the windows after a long-line insertion from our Black Hawk helicopter. Team Bunny Rabbit will enter the file area and remove the pertinent files(code named: Dental Floss) as well as your computer hard drive(code named: Adidas).

Upon radio call sign "Sarsaparilla", Team Python will rendezvous with Team Bunny Rabbit at the insertion point to await extraction by the helicopter(codenamed: Grilled Cheese). After Teams 1 & 2 are safely aboard we will then pick up our covering sniper and spotter(code named: Yogi and Boo Boo).

One great idea: Brian.

One crazy idea: Matthew creating a vidoe game. Could you only imagine...it would be cross of South Park, Rainbow 6 (or any of those crazy fighing games) and some kids of off roading adventure. I'm not sure what the goals would be, or how to win the game...but it sure would be interesting :D :D.

Who's in?
:lol :lol this is one of the funniest things the Matthew has posted to date.

:monkey <---"mmmm grilled cheese"

Yeah I was really disappointed in the Vikings play yesterday. It is shocking to me how much one player (especially a WR) can make a difference. Thing is though Randy can't play defense.

The Bears on the other hand are slowly moving up the standings and making history doing it :thumbsup .....overtime win on a safety :ugh: :freak :monkey

Not that the Vikings d was anything to write home about, but how will the Pack stp our offense once Randy returns? Especially in the dome? Count your days on top...it wont last long!

I STILL HATE THE PACK!!!

Yep, its gonna be interesting in the dome and the packers are just a shitty dome team, but I'm still hopeful for a surprise. Our defense isn't much better, but I've been encouraged by Javon Walker stepping it up.
You bring up a good point about moss though, I think its funnny that everyone has been putting culpepper in the top 3 candidates for the mvp yet how many games has he won with out Randy in the lineup? Maybe Moss should be considered your team mvp.

Isn't the next matchup on christmas eve? It'll be crazy, until then GO PACK

I don't think the world is ready. Plus, someone may recognize the operation's similarities from the gameplay and start asking questions.

Or we could just put on crazy costumes, get paintball guns, and drive around in my jeep, making up the targets and points as we go(to jail, most likely).

A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in

Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either

masculine or feminine. "House" for instance, is feminine: "la

casa." "Pencil," however, is masculine: "el lapiz." A student

asked, "What gender is 'computer'?"

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into

two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for

themselves whether "computer" should be a masculine or a feminine
noun.

Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that "computer" should definitely

be of the feminine gender ("la computer"), because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;

2. The native language they use to communicate with other

computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;

3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term

memory for possible later retrieval; and

4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find

yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

(No chuckling... this gets better!)

The women's group, however, concluded that computers

should be Masculine ("el computer"), because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;

2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;

3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half

the time they ARE the problem; and

4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had

waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

The women won.

Its OK, the word quote may have to be in your sig, you will survive.

I should never have dropped my WH membership 3 years ago - th eone year I joined there was only a cd-rom and a stupid little 8 1/2 x 11. LAME! And WH still doesn't offer more than 2 tix per order :BANG :BANG . Some of us like to see shows with more than one other friend.

And why does it seem like whenever I am here, it is slow, and then I log in the next day and some crazy funny shit happens - and I miss it. I feel like the guy who just keeps missing the jokes, or turns away when Randy Moss catches another 55 yard bomb from Daunte.

Whatever, have a good day everyone, and if I don't sheck in later, have a great weekend!

I should have been more specific:
Injured = Randy
Crappy = Daunte

EddieW33

I should have been more specific:
Injured = Randy
Crappy = DaunteWow! Now, you know I love you, and respect your opinions, and appreciate that you are a displaced Bears fan at heart...but that shot at Randy hurt, the shot at Daunte was unnecessary:twak. You even inspired me to double check to make sure he was having an "OK" season. In fact, he is having the best season of his career. If we had a defense that could stop a high school JV team, maybe we would be 8 - 2, but our D sucks!!!

OK, so I said you inspired me, here are DC numbers:
25 TDs & 1 rushing TD
5 ints
2712 yards passing, only 37 behind Peyton Mannig...both on pace to shatter NFL passing records.

If Manning wasn't having such a great year, and the Eagles weren't so hot, Daunte would be the talk of the league. He couldn't be having a better season!

This is always a great topic on the radio...people want to bash Daunte, even though he is doing awesome! I don't get it, and until he wins the Super Bowl, people will only think that he sucks and fumbles all the time. His only significant fumble this year was on the goal line against the Eagles, and that turned the tide of the game - and EVERY QB would have fumbled that ball - he go hit hard & right on the ball.

Well, times have changed! Accept it...

Now if the Bears would just give us Ehrlacker (sp) in a trade, my life would be much better :D.

The Vikings will destroy the Lions this weekend! :)

Oh year, don't make me go and look up the Bears QB stats for the year, I think Daute has two games where he produced more points that the Bears QBs have all year!

EddieW33
11-19-2004, 02:34 PM
Alright, I said I was motivated, I even went back and checked out the Bears QB's - here are their fantastic stats:

Rex Grossman/Craig Krenzel/Jonathon Quinn:
1431 yards
4 tds
8 ints

Gee, I wonder who I want as my QB?

BACK OFF DAUNTE!!!

What else do you want from him. I mean, we spotted the Packers 17 points at home, and caught up.
NO OTHER QB COULD HAVE DONE IT W/O MOSS. :banned

Much agreed, but, when your defense couldn't stop one of those lingere bowl teams, there is only so much you can expect from your QB.
There are many great examples of these QB over the years in the NFL, and this year is no different. Look at Manning and Daunte, two QBs who can score with the best of them. Unfortunately, that is what they have to do every week. Keep scoring, and hope your defense makes a stop, or two.
And, looking at the remainder of the season, with 4 NFC north games (2 detroit, 1 GB & Chi) Vikings aren't in bad shape.

All I want for Christmas is a fricking Defense!!! (and I don't celebrate XMas)

Hey Alpine people!

It's funny that I just saw this thread top the tour discussion, I was just thinking about the alpine, and I need all of your input.

I live in central New York, about 2 hours west of SPAC. I'm been a big DMB fan for about two years, and have gone to SPAC, Darien Lake, and Hartford. Obviously, SPAC has been my favorite, but lately I've been thinking about checking out other places. My friend and I have always wanted to go to the Gorge, but it's too far for us to drive and we don't have enough money for plane tickets. However, over the past year, I've read a lot about Alpine being a great place to see the boys perform.

What I'm wondering is what makes the Alpine so great? I really want to road trip to see DMB, but 14 hours is a long way. I know that it's made of wood and it's really big, and that Alpine Valley is a big ski resort in the winter, but what makes it so stunning? I'm hoping that next summer I can gather the cash to get out to Wisconsin for a weekend and still be able to go to SPAC. Any input on what makes the Alpine rival the Gorge and SPAC would be appreciated. Thanks everyone, and have a great Thanksgiving.

I'll give a quick rundown of the reasons I love this place:
1) The people from here, they are great and we had a blast
2) The sight lines. Alpine doesn't have big pillars, the lawn is sloped just right. as a side benefit, the sound at Alpine is the best. The design lends itself to excellent acoustics.
3) It's huge. Alpine is the biggest venue DMB plays(excluding CP & GGP)
4) The tailgating scene is incredible.
5) The shows are always high ebergy and high quality. Alpine always gets a special gift every year.
6) "Once again, I'm not as sure exactly why, but uh, every time we get back here we look at this building I gotta say this is my favorite place to play y'all. It's the favorite place." Dave Matthews Alpine Valley 2002
7) The monkey!! :monkey

Matt - sweet Jeep in sig :hug And thanks for pulling out that photo again! What a view :D

snyddogg430 - just a few words to encourage you to make the trip. Alpine is the largest amphetheatre in the coutry - 35,000 to 40,000 people. Every year gets better - I have been going since 1999 and won't stop until I die!!! If you enjoy hanging out, drinking, bbq-ing and hanging out with some of the best dave fans in the country, give make the road trip!!! I have a freind out in NJ and he came out in 2002- and said it was the best venue he has ever been to. He came back in 03 but due to his wedding, he had to skip it this year. He will be back!
What I am getting at is that Alpine is the best! You should save every dollar to make it out here next summer!

Have a great turkey day everyone - I will be locked in the Millenium Hotel in St Louis with over 420 high schoolers until Sunday AM (not to mention the 12 hr bus ride each way :(

When shall we transition to the Alpine 2005 Thread? I say do it on New Year's Day, since it's the first day of 05. There's no need to wait for an official tour date, or even for a summer tour to be announced. Plus it'll give us a big jump on those SPAC fuckers. We need to look to the future! Or we could do it now and be really progressive thinkers.

Welcome back eveyone - hope y'all had a wonderful weekend. I wish I had some super fun story from this weekend - I usually do since I spent the weekend staffing a youth group convention of 420 + teenagers.

The one moment that stands out was on Saturday night. The kids were supposed to be in thier rooms packing and getting ready to go. The hotel we stayed at was a big circle - with an open atrium and no hallways, one long balcony. A group of kids (20-30) started to do a high school cheer while banging on the balcony wall. Well, this led to almost every kids at the convention coming out of thier rooms and banging along - at 10:00 PM. They practically made the whole hotel shake. It was a near riot, a little crazy, but made our group look horrible. I realize the kids were just having fun, but they made us look really bad.

Kind of crazy - otherwise - 11 hour bus rides SUCK!!!

Way to go Vikings! T-Wolves! And way to go Gopher Hockey!!! #1 again!!!

Is there anybody out there?

I was having a great weekend until last night :violent :BANG

The Broncos absolutely suck when they play in prime time and last night's loss really hurts because it was Jokeland and they knocked us out of first place......ohhh well.....they wouldn't be the Broncos without all the heartache(choking)

Hopefully the Broncos show up this Sunday against the Chargers. If they lose playoff hopes are out the window:monkey

I am excited to go ridin this Friday at Copper Mountain....especially if it keeps snowing all this week up there

Yeah - this happens frequently - the #1 team in the country may not be at the top of their conference when they are ranked #1. College hockey is based on how hot you are - since we took out #1 and MSU (by a combined 10 -1) - not to mention a split in Denver (defending national champs) and you get the #1 team in the country. Let's just hope they can bottle up the way they are playing right now and re-release it in March!!! :D

I'm not complaining about it, it's just strange. I see why, but that has to piss the WCHA leaders off to no end.

Rupert Murdoch bought DirecTV. He owns News Corp, the parent of FOX. DISH Network's contracts with FOX came up for renewal and Murdoch priced them so outlandishly that DISH couldn't afford them. DISH has been forced to drop programming, making DirecTV service more attractive. In Iowa we automatically got access to FOX Sports Chicago, and I purchased FOX Sports North(Minnesota) for $2/month.

I already told her no, and I am not sure when she has to work. She was planning on coming up to Minnesota, but I could have her catch a flight to Chi for really cheap.
Now it is up to me...I will see.

Crumbo - please tell me you are catching Jackyl at Valpo - or in the city. I saw they have a show on Friday night there.

hoppin on the bandwagon early huh? ;)

:lol

I have a feeling after watching the Illini this year that they are going far.

I like to see the Cyclones do well, as well as the Hawkeyes, but I wish the Gophers would put something together one of these years that didn't involve academic fraud. Hockey team's doing great, though.

And Roseville Hockey is 12th in the MSHSA rankings. :thumbsup

So Brian, being a resident of Chi town and a Lawyer. What's going on with this Nancy Tutor's(or is it Totor?) lawsuit, is she gonna win? Have you volunteered as local council for the band yet?

Good question. Anyone know if this was filed in State or Federal court??? I could get a copy of the complaint and post it for everyone to see.

Looks like it's State:

First civil lawsuit filed in waste dumping incident
November 25, 2004 (CHICAGO) — A passenger on the Chicago River tour that was doused with human waste has filed the first civil lawsuit in the incident.

Nancy Todor of Elmhurst wants unspecified damages from the Dave Matthews Band and bus driver Stefan Wohl for emotional distress after the August Eighth incident.

The lawsuit alleges Wohl emptied the septic tank of the band's tour bus while crossing a bridge over the river, dousing more than 100 tour boat passengers with raw sewage.

Todor says the waste entered her eyes and mouth and covered her hair and clothes. She says she suffered extreme nausea and vomiting.

A spokesman for the band says its members haven't seen the lawsuit. But it has suspended Wohl and made 50-thousand dollar donations to both the Chicago Park District and a nonprofit group that protects the Chicago River.
