Okay, so i got tickets and am flying over to Pittsburgh from the UK. Has anyone got any idea how i can get from Pittsburgh to Burgettstown? Seeing as im 19 i can't rent a car in the states i believe. And i cant for the life of me seem to find any info on buses.

Any help/advice would be really appreciated.

Cheers guys,

There aren't going to be any buses that will take you that far. The only thing I can think of is getting a taxi, but that would cost a lot. Stay in Robinson, not Pittsburgh. It is a lot closer to the airport and to the venue.

GoLdpHiShDMB
04-06-2004, 10:21 AM
Maybe you should go to the shows in Camden, Nj instead. This way you can fly to Philadelphia, drive 5 minutes over the bridge, and see DMB at the Tweeter Center

Dougie981641
04-06-2004, 11:43 AM
Yah the Port Authority won't get you that far out, what you could do so the cab is slightyly cheaper is take a bus from downtown to the airport then get a cab from there to the venue. Not as far, cheaper cab right, right? Just a thought

yeah. isn't she cute? she's not as innocent as she looks though. quite mischevious. i've been trying to think of a DMB lyric that fits her...but haven't come up with a good one yet. she's just goofy.

oh yeah, she freaks out when she hears proudest monkey. she has this monkey tug of war toy. she just grabs it ans shakes her head real fast then lets it fly in the air. so monkey is the new word she knows. so when i play proudest monkey, she freaks when dave says monkey and when tim does that funky guitar lick on the dave and tim versions. quite amusing.

Bad news to all of us wanting to see RRFB as our opener. I saw this on AMIdreaming. So, who do you all think will open now.

he's ditching DMB to open for Clapton this summer

Robert Randolph & The Family Band have been confirmed as the opening act on Eric Clapton's US Tour from June 6th-August 2nd... There are three shows on the Clapton tour that RRFB will NOT be performing on- those are June 12th in New Orleans, June 18th in Atlanta and June 19th in Greenville, SC. The band will still be performing at their previously announced shows at Bonaroo on June 12th, Wakarusa Festival in Kansas on June 18th and at The Playboy Jazz Festival in Los Angeles on June 20th. Unfortunately, this does mean we have to cancel the band's four opening dates with the Dave Matthews Band at the end of June, so we are very sorry to those of you who had hoped to see the band at those shows... We will soon announce additional headlining and late-night shows that the band will be doing during the Summer on days off from the Clapton tour. The band1s European tour with Eric has so far been an
incredible success and Robert guests with Eric every night in what has become a great moment of the show...

We look forward to seeing you this summer...

Here are the confirmed dates for Robert Randolph & The Family Band opening for Eric Clapton:

June 5-6: Dallas (Crossroads Guitar Festival)
June 9: Oklahoma City (Ford Center)
June 11: Little Rock, Ark. (Alltel Arena)
June 14: St. Petersburg, Fla. (St. Pete Times Forum)
June 15: Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (Office Depot Center)
June 16: Jacksonville, Fla. (Veterans Memorial Arena)
June 21: Washington, D.C. (MCI Center)
June 23: Albany, N.Y. (Pepsi Arena)
June 26: Philadelphia (Wachovia Center)
June 28-30: New York (Madison Square Garden)
July 3-4: Mansfield, Mass. (Tweeter Center)
July 7: Toronto (Air Canada Centre)
July 9: Buffalo, N.Y. (HSBC Arena)
July 10: Cleveland (Gund Arena)
July 12: Columbus, Ohio (Nationwide Arena)
July 13: Auburn Hills, Mich. (Palace of Auburn Hills)
July 15: Indianapolis (Conseco Fieldhouse)
July 17: Chicago (United Center)
July 18: St. Paul, Minn. (Xcel Energy Center)
July 20: Milwaukee (Bradley Center)
July 22: Omaha, Neb. (Qwest Center)
July 24: Denver (Pepsi Center)
July 27: Seattle (Key Arena)
July 28: Portland, Ore. (Rose Garden Arena)
July 30-31: San Jose, Calif. (HP Pavilion)
Aug. 2: Los Angeles (Hollywood Bowl)

I would not mind OAR at all.
What about someone like a Sondre Lerche. Not as upbeat as these other bands, but this Norwegian is awesome. I saw him open for Mraz down Rosebud last year and bought his CD right after. He is very chill and does some great songs.

On a side note, does anyone have his new album?

this sounds stupid cause I work at Starlake, well formally known as S.L. but as I said before I had section 7 and 4, four is covered. I never really payed attention cause I've either been real close in the front few rows or occasionally the lawn... but those seats aren't great, but they arent bad are they. I was section 4 for one show last year within the first couple of rows, right behind the handicapped section. Not too bad of a view and killer sound. The view certainly isn't the same as sitting down close though.

Raven RR, what row you in. I'm in 4E the one night and I think those will be actually decent seats. Lawn isn't bad there, but you have to get their early and hold ur spot. Hell, Lawn is right behind the Pav seating. Problem is get their early and stay. NO PEEING ALLOWED, cause you will loose your spot. So if you like to get a buzz drinking before or during the show, you may have to pee and leave. What a pickle

the view from the lawn is really good. they have it so the lawn is elevated from the seats

at least i think i remember that right

Yah, I've always had a great view from the lawn. Then again, my buddies and I will always stop chilling at the car early and get in line a decent bit of time before the gates open. Oh if you are gonna wait in line bring something to drink haha, if anyone remembers 8-2-02 we suffered waiting it was just so damn hot...Part of the fun though being some of the first in and running to the front and center (or off center, last year a section was roped off) of the lawn.

I may have posted this before but, here is where we are at...Section 8 Row O Seats 11-16.

By the way, closer to the show, I may put my cell number up or whatever if any of u ants want to meet up in the lot

Same. I'm actually in the pit for nite 2 which is unreal. I cant beleive the warehouse hooked me up so good. I'd like to know if there are rows or not. I hope not cuz then I can just get first in line at the gates and run down to be front row center. Holy shit this is going to be amazing.

Haha, obviously there's no way of being screwed by being in the Pit. But do you have any suggestions of getting exactly front row center? Do you think I'd have to camp out at the gates to be the first one in?

I have to say, I'm still in shock. I cant beleive the warehouse hooked me up so well.

Definitely do not camp out at the gates to be first. I actually dont even think that is possible. From my experience at Starlake when the gates first open there is a big rush to get in the front of the lawn. Somewhere like 50 to a hundred people go sprinting onto the field. I have never seen a rush to get into the pit. The parking lot does not open until about 4:30 ( they tell you 5pm)and it I am not mistaken the gates do not open until 7. Maybe someone will confirm that gates opening time because I am not 100% sure. That is awesome that you have such good seats though.

Yea, I definitely wouldnt mind getting there WAY early to make sure I get front row center. I think it'd be worth it. All we'd have to wait is like 2 hours for Dave to come on (I think the show starts at 7). Also, it says I have row PA. I hope that stands for "Pit, row A". That would be amazing. I think I'll call Post-Gazette Pavilion and ask 'em what it means and what time they think I should arrive there to get the best possible seats. I'll wait at least til summer starts for that.

Im making the trip over from the UK for these two shows (and sooooo excited!).

I can get flights to pittsburgh airport easy enough, my problem is just getting from there to the shows at star lake (or bennett acres where im planning on staying).

I'll be getting in to pittsburgh on the friday. Then somehow need to get to burgettstown.

I can't rent a car as i'm 19. I've searched the net for bus routes but found nothing....

Anyone got any advice?

Or space in there car!?

By the way, thanks for all the info about the venue etc on this thread - been very helpful! My first shows....finally! Can't belive it!

Anyways, im rambling...

just a little tip if you haven't been to starlake.

if you have tickets in the last few rows of the pavilion, sell them for lawn tickets. because the sound is just awful right there. I dont know why, but it just is. I sat there last year and could notice a huge difference. Besides, it isn't under the roof anyways.

also, bring lots of beer to the parking lot

If anyone wants to meet and hang out at Bennet Acres ,let me know, i am camping with 5 maybe six friends, we got a 4 room 10 person tent and are bringing , much , much booze. i work til 11 am sat. --i am leaving from work to drive straight to bennet. about an hour and 30 min. drive. setting up our tent and drinking right away., anyone plan on walking to the show from bennet acres.? if you all want to hang out we could use some kinda sign to signal other ants, (i did'nt order a window decal) maybe like a red balloon or something-- just a thought.anyway we still have time to figure it out.--Peace--Brett

well i was thinking those at bennett can meet there and hang out, then move over to the parking lot and meet everyone else around 3 or 4. i'm up for anything though, so everyone give some input :)

and for those of you that can't view the page with excel, what spreadsheet program do you have? i also have works spreadsheet, and if that's what you guys have, i can throw up a link to a works page too.

Dunno if anyone noticed, but the main site says that Keller Williams is opening instead of that other guy. Its funny, my friend just said the other day, "dude, if you like Dave Matthews, you'll like Keller Williams." So I DLed some of his stuff. I gotta say, its a little weird. I usually like the acoustic guitar guys like John Mayer, Jack J., and obviously Dave. It might just take a little time to get used to him. Anyone else like him? I know with Dave, most songs I dont like the first time around. Maybe it'll be like that will Keller Williams.

I've d/l'd a few shows from archive.org but I havent listened to them yet. My friend, (who's the music geek) claims that Keller is a mix between Howie Day, Dave Matthews and Barenaked Ladies. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

EDIT: If you havent heard of Howie Day then pull you're haed out of the sand and download This Show (http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=1427) (its 1 disc, ~350mb)

I have a question for you. Would you be mad if you were me? Well, I just turned 16 and have had my lisense for 2 months (4 months at the time of the concert) and an additional 6 months with my permit. I wanna drive to Starlake and I live about 45 minutes away. At this point, my parents are still giving me a solid "no" with no chance of giving in. Not to mention I'm battling them about even being able to drive to school. I even have my own car! :violent

Tell me what you think. I'm a little fired up right now since I just got done arguing about it.

I'm sure they're just concerned because they know there will be a ton of traffic, and it requires more driving than just 'around town' and to school. I'm not sure how they expect you to get to the show though. best thing with parents - don't yell and bitch. talk about it in a calm, mature manner. it will make them take you more seriously.

I would not be mad at all, and this is not to sound like a turd. Maybe go off of this. Same thing happened to me in 02. By that point I had my liscense for about 10 months and my parents were out of town for the show. The wouldn't let me drive because 1) they were out of town 2) i didn't have a senior liscense. So I got a ride wiht my neighbor who was working a booth there for the high school wrestling team. Also from what I witnessed driving last year and to other shows after words the cops are all over the highway and then the parkway going down towards the city. People pulled over left and right. Granted they won't pull you over for looking under 18, lets say they have another reason to pull you over (and I doubt they would) they got you twice. My buddy got his liscense suspended for speeding and driving after hours. Not to sound like a nagging bitch, but I would try to bum a ride. Sorry for this lagging on.

Gotcha. I must say though, out of all the shows I am going to this year I am most excited for these two, perhaps because it will be my "new venue of the tour" and includes a massive roadtrip. Hope I get to meet some ANts at these shows!

1. How much does it cost to stay there?
2. How is it?
3. Do you have to make reservations before?

The person I am going with doesn't want to camp so I am looking for something close to the venue. Also if anyone is looking for extra tix, I have Section 9 Row Q for night 1 and Section 4 Row T for night 2.

Thanks

Now that I'm thinking straight, I can sorta see where they're coming from. Last year my mom was driving us (she dropped us off and picked us up... just sat there outside during the concert) and we passed this really bad looking accident with a car actually on top of the other one. I understand that parents are protective and stuff, but I wont be drunk! I probably wouldnt even drink if I were of age (well, maybe a few) but I woudlnt get blasted cuz I'd still want to remember the show.

Well, this year is probably gonna be the smae thing... mom or dad taking us and just sitting there the whole 4 or so hours. It kinda ruins the mood... like I think it would be way more exciting if I were allowed to jsut drive.
