I live about 1 hour and 20 min. away, but i'm gonna camp this year at Bennet Acres, i've never stayed there but i heard it's alot of fun, and only 1 and 1/2 miles from starlake, it's like 10.00 a person. last year was the first year since '98 that i missed one of the two shows and that is not going to happen again. anyone stay ther before? what is it like?

Can't wait, last year my friend met Stefan at our Country Club, he had just finished playing a round of golf. So between looking around up there and visiting every hotel in the city of Pittsburgh, I should be able to meet someone. My bet is that they stay at the Omni William Penn. Im not sure how Im going to get tickets this year. Im only 2nd year of Warehouse, but I might risk just waiting till sells good seats on the boards.
The one thing I hate about Star Lake tailgaiting is that yinzers who dont wear any shirts.

When I went there on 8/2/02 it was crazy. We got there at 3 and the parking gates weren't open yet,so people were parked on the side of the highway drinking, prolly about 200 cars,it was the greatest sight ever. needless to say i got WAY too drunk and forget the whole show except for monkey->satellite. My friends say i was being "that guy" and heaving lawn chairs into the crowd
needless to say i won't be mixing painkillers with a bottle of captain this year

Somehow I managed to convince my girlfriend and a really good friend that we need to go to these shows. Nine hour drive from Hartford but I am really looking forward to it. Anybody have any ideas on how to get three tickets together (not lawn)? This will be the furthest west I will have ever been, I know, it is sad.

last year, one night we got VIP parking - and in all honesty - we didn't have to wait in line (which our one friends did for about 20 minutes), we didn't get searched (which our friends did), we didn't have to wait to get out of the venue, and the buses drove by us - it was pretty cool. So I am may wanna get VIP parking for one or two nights.

anyway, i found 2 different area codes for the number, either 724 or 412-947-5120. let us know what info you find out, or i'll post it if i find out first.

greyst4, it would depend on which method of ticketing (random or seniority) they use for which night and you won't know that when you go to order them, so I guess get both from WH (if you're going to both) or take your chances with TM.

I think the closest/nicest is the Holiday Inn in Weirton, WV its like 8 miles away right off 22. Also its nice b/c all the pittsburgh traffic from the show will be going/coming from the other way
thats where i stayed last year....it was pretty nice....theres a restaurant/bar attached to it and it was like $70 a night...i think it was about a 15 minute drive to the venue

Stay in Robinson Twp or Moon Twp. Plenty to do there, all the hotels are very nice, very close to the airport.
And it is about a 20 minute ride for you to Star Lake.

OK you Pittsburgh natives, where is the absolute CLOSEST hotel to the pavilion, and how nice is it??? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Depending on how you like traffic you may want to stay in WV or OH. There is minimal traffic coming to or going that direction. The majority of the traffic and construction (if its still there) heads to/from Robinson. There are some good bars in WV though.

can't go to my usual venue this year cause of work, so we'll be at night 2 ...like i said, because of work schedules..
so, they're not real tough on drinkers (underagers too) in the parking lot? i'll be 21 a handfull of days after the show and everyone i'm going with already is..i wanna get in on this action too! just wondering what the scene is like.
also, which night is more popular? i was thinking night 1 would be..and since we'll be hitting night 2 i'm hoping for better seats..thanks.
SS5ball
03-15-2004, 02:03 PM
No they are not tough on drinking. If you are with a bunch of people who are over age you should not have a problem. The only time I have witnessed any problems was when a bunch of 15 yr olds were drinking and what not. In fact last year I recall security walking around with plastic cups to give to those who were drinking out of bottles. They did not give anyone problems just gave them the cups and went on there way. If you have cans you do not even have to conceal it. In regards to which is more popular, I am not sure. I would say last year night 2 only because it was on a Friday and night one was on Thursday. I am sure this year both nights will eventually be sold out since they are covering the weekend.

Not true, they gave out 1500 underage drinking in the two nights last year, and thats an assload. That is how the town gets all its money, trust me, I was one of those 1500. I was not with a big group of people (4), was not being loud or obnoxious, and was drinking out of a cup. Im also 18 and look pretty old, but the cop came up, said he say a bottle of liquor in the car and he wanted to see id. So my advice to anyone who is under 21 is don't drink. Its not worth missing the show. But on the bright side, I met some cool people in the prison tent (if anyone from there sees this, hit me up wiht a message).

so here's the deal:

they said they'll never run out of room for tents, so not to worry, you can just throw it up anywhere. they said they got a big turnout last year for DMB, but they absolutly assured me they have plenty of room for tents and won't run out.
it's $10/person/night.
there's no electricity for individual sites, only on RV sites and at the bathrooms.

Here is what I pulled off of TM, any thoughts from peeps that have been there?
Saturday Section 4 Row S
Sunday Section 6 Row T
How are seat numbers, are the lower numbers towards the middle of the venue or towards the outside?
I think the section 4 ones might be a little week but going for three tickets for each night I am happy to have just getting pavillion. We also already booked our hotel room. Never would have though I could get the girlfriend excited about driving 8 hours but I think I pulled it off. I am so excited to be going to these shows!

Ok so I'm a little late jumping in here....
I'm from Pgh, so I wasn't going to miss Starlake! I got reserved from Warehouse, of course I don't know where yet, but oh well. We'll be getting there probably when the lots open to tailgate, both nights!!!
As for the debate on underage drinking, my friend's little sister got busted 2002 and she was a minor (17), but all she got was a fine and was released into our custody (pretty much everyone else was over 21). Keep it in the cups and you should be fine.
We were drinking out of bottles last year and no one bothered us.
Looks like a good crew comming out to Starlake this year. We should have a decent set up in the lot....the more the merrier!
See ya'll this summer.

I would love to camp all weekend, but i have to put in a half of day of work on sat. morning, i'll work until 11am and then leave from work and drive straight to the campsite to set-up-- i should be there around 12:30 or 1pm. Party before the show- big party after-and all day sunday -go to the show again and then head home after.
For those of you who camped at bennet acres before- do you walk to the show? It seems kinda silly to pile everyone in cars, and then sit in traffic to get in and out,and pay for parking- i'm not sure exactly how far it is, and if you would have to walk beside the highway.?
raven rr
03-30-2004, 12:51 PM
i'm not sure how far away it is either... but walking doesn't seem like a bad idea. i'm down for whatever!

i'm camping friday and saturday...not sunday cause i have4 to work early monday morning :(
i think it's a good idea to walk to the show, cause traffic probably sucks and we'd sit in the parking lot trying to get out for an hour, when we could jsut walk.
and...i plan on being drunk, so driving isn't a good idea.

Half hour to get out of Star Lake's lot? Only has happened to me or anyone I know once...I wouldn't count on it. If I were you guys I would just walk back to the campground if it is only a half hour. Besides whats better than seeing a bunch of people walking along the highway at 11:30 at night. DO IT! haha

So me, my friend and my gf are camping Friday and Sat nights...not sunday either cause I have to be at work in Toronto Monday morning at 9am. For the thrid year in a row I'll be driving over 8 hours to get homw RIGHT AFTER the show ends...ahhhh, the show is only half of the fun those nights. So where we all camping to anyway? Has there been a concensus reached? Has anyone actually found a workng phone number for Bennet Acres?

03-30-2004, 05:19 PM
i just got off the phone with bennett acres...finally!
so here's the deal:
they don't take reservations for tents, only RV's.
they said they'll never run out of room for tents, so not to worry, you can just throw it up anywhere. they said they got a big turnout last year for DMB, but they absolutly assured me they have plenty of room for tents and won't run out.
it's $10/person/night.
there's no electricity for individual sites, only on RV sites and at the bathrooms.
they are 2 miles down the same road the ampitheater is on.
their phone number is: 724-947-5120.
i'll be camping there, so let me know who else is!
this is from page 5 of the thread-- if you don;t have a RV you need not worry about reservations. :D
