So many good memories of the Red Roof. Maybe they finally got sick of drunk people partying and singing all night long.

6 straight years and still going strong....you bet your bottom dollar, I dont miss a Meadows show. Hit my #100th there last year, the memories will long outlast the dirty bathroom sink in the middle of Hartford. After last years "tweener" shows, the band will come back with that Meadows force and energy we all live for.
The Red Roof will live in infamy, weve never stayed there, always opted for the more convienent and roomy, Super 8. Ahhh July 16 and 17th....wish they came tomorrow, though it was nice to pass through over the winter to catch the freinds tour.... Good times out there in Conneticut.

Connecticut doesn't get as much fame as many of the other states. But we must be doin something right cuz DMB, Dave and Friends, and Dave and Tim always make sure to stop here. Long live CT!!

which of yall were at the meadows shows last year? Cuz I couldn't go. It looked like the first night was good but the second night was ruined by all those everyday songs in a row. I grimaced when I saw the setlist that night.

02-19-2004, 10:13 PM
no, night 2 was better. night one was ok, but a weak encore didnt do alot. but night 2 was great except for that little ED run, hearing recently in the encore totally surprised me and made the show for me. not to mention ASTB=>warehouse

Both nights stunk. There was no energy whatsoever the first night. There were people sleeping in their seats. It was pathetic. They only woke up for Tripping Billies. Night two wasn't as bad, but the run of drab songs at the end and the short, sleepy Two Step really killed the crowds enthuism. The only redeming part of the second night was the nice Recently/Stay encore. The band really seemed like they didn't feel like playing those two shows, and it was very apparant. They even tossed Lover Lay Down from the the second night. Too bad. I left both shows feeling slightly unfulfilled.

With Hartford towards the beginning of the tour this year the guys should still be fresh and Dave's voice should be still on. It sounds like the guys were kinda stale by the time they got to the meadows last year. Meadows 2002 (second night especially) was very satisfying so I don't doubt that the guys will make up for it this year.

Yeah, last years meadows shows were two of the worst shows I have ever been to. If it wasn't for 7-29-01 they would be #1 and #2 stinkers but that SPAC show took the cake!
course, I have NEVER left hartford dissapointed outside of last year, and that's starting with 9-2-95 so I am optimistic for this year, plus it's my b-day so even if it sucks I will have fun!

I was reading the Darien Lake thread and they had a lot of info of what to do and what not to do when going to the concert. I've only been to the meadows once so I don't have a lot to add. But, do any of you meadows veterans have any tips for parking, when to arrive, security issues, etc.?

Dude, coming from Brookfield, leave at like 1 or 2 or the traffic on the 84/91 interchange is a nightmare. I have been making the exact same trek since 95 and I learned in 99 that a hotel room is where it's at if you're doing both nights (Before 99 Hartford wasn't really sold out of crazy for DMB). Your car is safe, you don't have to drive, no traffic, and a good nights sleep between nights. There's quite a few of us from snobtown, CT that annually go up, plus a ton of 'community' people who meet us up there every year. It's a good time.

02-19-2004, 10:56 PM
I will be there both nights. I agree that 2nd night was best last year and my seats were great. I hope that I can do as well this year.
Please discourage lackluster yuppies from going if they are just going to sit there like zombies and take up space. Thanks! ;)

Don't go to the Hilton downtown. Go to a Hampton Inn or Courtyard Marriott up 91. Why don't you all decide what hotel you want to stay in an all stay there (negotiate a group rate). You will be less hassled outside Hartford anyway....

02-19-2004, 11:41 PM
I had some friends that went to Red Roof a couple times. After a night at the meadows filled with stupid drunk people I don't want them coming in my room to party after a long day. I'd rather chill with some people in a semi quiet and then get at least some sleep to get me through the next day.

most places are rowdy and always will be. Even if they do stop going to the meadows we'll have plenty of other places to see them. I doubt they'll stop though, they've been playing at the meadows forever.
twosteppn36
02-19-2004, 11:45 PM
people being rowdy and all that has nothin to do with the band though....if they dont want it rowdy...then the security and venue needs to be more strict about everything

Allright i got two choices concerning these two shows.
1.) Go to both and sleep in my car the night between. (Coming from Long Island, can't afford a hotel room, let alone the two tickets)
2.) Choose just one of the shows and drive there and back in one day.

you should be ready for the most insane tailgaiting you have ever seen... hartford is notorious for it. the meadows is also a great venue... good sound, lots of hardcore fans. plus, it's the one venue that dmb has played the most shows at, aside from trax and the floodzone

Whats better than parking at the Gold Club, six hours of tailgating with friends and stangers a like as you trek leisurely though the Expo Center parking lot, buying a redonculous amount of jello shots for like 5 dollars, and then finally sharing an awesome concert with a few thousand of your closest friends? I love it.

Hey all,
Im hoping to make both shows.
Got a fair bit of organising to do firs though. I'll be travelling all the way from birmingham, UK. Pretty mad i know but i just gotta do it! Never seen DMB live or done this kinda thing before but you know, what the hell!? Im a student... there is no better time to be in debt in your life!
Im thinking, flying to NY (JFK, or newark possibly?) then getting a bus (a greyhound i think?!? whatever that is!) up to hartford. Then good old walking to the show!
Only bummer is that i am not a warehouse member...so i damn sure hope i can get tickets online...maybe from ticketmaster (or ticketbastard as you guys sometimes rather worryingly call it!)

Haha, its not too far at all...And its so much easier to get out of after the show. Plus its just so sketched out back there, its funny. And like i said, i enojy getting there early and walking through the expo lots. Theres usually tons of ppl i know going, and even ppl i dont, that we hang with for a while, and then they'll join us in the walk...A good time is had by all.

For night 2 I put in a request for 2 tickets, reserved only.
As it turns out, I think there may be a third who would like to enjoy the evening.
Would anyone recommend trading for 3 lawn seats (I've heard its pointless to request 3 reserved seats together, they only come in even numbered blocks) or should I try and get three reserved seats somewhere?
Thanks

About 10 minutes, both shows. If you get through. They always seem to get bogged down and I have high speed cable.
Better bet is go to the Oakdale that morning, they'll be doing a lottery for line order. You an also get tickets.com tickets at Strawberry locations.
The Meadows box office isn't open this early in the season.

Ok Heres the deal I am part of warehouse now for two years. My stupid friend decided she was gonna give me her credit card and I would request two nights for hartford. Now if anyone can please im looking to buy two tickets to hartford and two tickets to camden one night camden two nights hartford please ants find it in your hearts if not then ill hopefully get ticketmaster even if you have one of those three nights its better then none thank you so much for your time.

what locations u guys got? I got lawn both nights through warehouse but I got a pair of tickets in section 400 for the first night from ticketmaster. I've just got lawn for the second night. OK so I thought I would only request night 2 because I am feeling old and tired from going both nights every year but the feeling of wanting to go to night one is creeping up inside of me. The Warehouse seems to get worse each year, they have only so many up close tickets, because Connecticut has a Ticket Club for most shows at most of the Venues (Meadows,Oakdale,Mohegan sun etc..) so they get dibs on the tickets first
I joined it one year a few years ago and got better seats than the Warehouse
But they raised the cost from like 100 to over 200 for the year, so i quit it
EDIT:I'll be at both shows only one pair from warehouse though, declined for other, but got from Tickets.com for other night

Someone where I work is in this and hooks me up with tickets every year. Last year I got 4 lawn (that was what I wanted) and this year I got section 800 row ff. Not the greatest but still worth not having to fight on tickets.com IMHO.

OK guys I've got a question. My friend and I are making the trip to Hartford most likely. He's got Warehouse tickets for sec. 100 row 6. He said that Hartford's seating goes all the way to the side of the stage. Since the tix are from Warehouse, we don't know which seats are our's. On the side of 100 towards the 200 section, the seats are great, but my question is how are they if we are towards the stage side? It seems that our view might totally suck if its from the absolute side of the stage. If anybody knows anything about how the view is from these seats, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hey Guys. I haven't posted much in the Meadows thread, but I'm here. I have a question. Night one, the show starts at 8, so the band will be on at 9. Just thought this was weird because don't a lot of cities have curfews? If they go on at 9, the'll be done at like 11:15, then encore will be done around 11:45 we'll say. I remember when DMB played at Folsom Field they played past curfew and had to pay a hefty fine. Just curious about this. Night one the band will be on at 9? Night two they'll be on at 8:05 (which is usually means around 8:20). Just wondering if anyone heard why they are starting late, and if noise curfex exists in Hartford?

300 J is a nice location. Yes, one month. I get butterflies thinking about it. OK, I told myself being a single mother that I have priorities, and going to as many dmb shows as possible should not be one. (Saving for college should) BUT now I feel the need to go to BOTH hartford shows. How did I ever think I would be able to resist this? I need to find a seat for night one. I know if I just show up there will be tickets for sale there, but I really want to go with someone. It seems everyone on here has a buddy or a bunch of friends to go with every summer, so what is up with me always being alone??? Can anyone help a girl out?

The only section with "ORCH" seats is section 200 (the middle section) and there are only 3 rows in ORCH (A,B,C) Section 300 starts with A.

Anyone knowing of a taper who still is looking for a spot to tape or maybe looking for a better spot to tape for Night One, I have a great opportunity for anyone of them.
I have tickets in Sect 100 Row B, 2nd Row! Seats 101 and 102, I'm going down to both shows by myself (need a nice weekend all to myself) so the other ticket is up to grabs for a taper to tape from there, I will help out with gear or whatever else they need help with. FOR TAPERS ONLY!!!

I think there is always the possibility of an obstructed view in 400 & 800 so I'd go with the 700's. In 400 you might not see LeRoi or even Fonzi at times. Plus I had some 400's once and even though they were in the center of the section I thought the audio was f'ed up (bad acoustics). It sounded muffled or like we were listening to an echo part of the time. Might've just been bad alll around that night, I'm not sure...
Just my $.02

SPAC's acoustics are not half as good as Meadows. Meadows is notoriously known for one of the best venues for sound in the country. Also the reason why a few bands rehearse for their tour there, including everyone's favorite. Where many people seem to ignore this fact, I get blown away every year from the start of the opening riff. This place was made for this band. Combine that with the amazing sets that dMb has played there, (minus last year) Meadows is by far and away my favorite place to see the band.

The rows in sections 400-800 have 40 seats.
When you enter the venue you enter through the 100 section or 400 section
And if I remember correctly the seats start at 01 there and go to 40, so 401-440 and then 501-540 and so on.
Hope that helps

You will be in the way back of the pavillion but you should be able to just fine (middle section). I sat there for Weezer and the tickets were very nice.

So these will be my last two shows of the tour, really hoping for a Stone opener and classic like Seek Up or #41 or Graves or Say Goodbye. Should be some great shows, hopefully they will make up for last year.

Its not too far, but alot farther away than at SPAC if you've ever been there. The meadows seems alot bigger in the pavillion. But it will be better than the lawn, thats for sure.

graves would be amesome to see! it's one of my fav songs. say goodbye would be nice also. a spoon or minarets would be amazing to see though. but who knows with the boys, they always seems to put on amazing shows at the meadows since it's tied with the gorge for most played venue. can't wait only 8 more days!!!!

I thought night 1 started at 8:00, i thought it was just so people could make it there in time for the show but I am going to check the ticket. Perhaps there is no longer a curfew on Saturday nights? I live here and have no clue though.
Checked the ticket, night one starts at 8:00, probably b/c of traffic, not sure what that will mean for the band though.

The Friday show is at 8 and the Saturday show is at 7 (on tickets and on websites)
So NERD should come on about those times.
I dont know officially that there is a curfew or not, but most shows I've been to at the Meadows were over by 11 at the latest.

If she finds cheesy looky idiots wearing flip flops and long sleeved dress shirts with the collars flipped up hot, then yes, there will be a lot of them. I'm going to stereotype a bit and guess she will be playing with her phone all night?

I heard mad people in the Hartford area go to the Dave show to party and dont even listen to Dave... is that true? I know I've heard people who go just for the party say that its awesome, but as a real fan is Hartford usually a good show? These will be my first 2 shows, and I put $130 into getting tickets to both nights...
Also, tailgating I was thinking about bringing my guitar and maybe my keyboard... Do other people ever bring stuff to jam with in the parking lot?

it's true that at the meadows a lot of people do just go there to party. After goin to SPAC this year I can say that the people there were a lot better. But I really can't complain about the Meadows cuz the guys usually play great shows (except last years) and the tailgating is very good. And yes, the true fan will get a good show.

Hey guys,
Really looking forward to going to both of these shows.
What's the parking lot/tailgating situation like? I've been to a lot of shows at the Tweeter Center (Great Woods) in Mansfield, and that lot is off the hook. Plenty of room to hang out and chill? Cost? (Mansfield is free).
Looking forward to seeing you all there. Look for us selling "concert bubbles." It'll make the show crazy I guarantee.

hey,
i lived in WH for over ten years, nice to see someone from there on the boards. How old are you? It is possible that I know you. As for your questions, people used to go to the shows just to party but ever since the riots they nhave cracked down and you have to show your tickets to get in the lot and they clear the lots at 6:00 or 7:00. Hartford usually gets some of the best shows of the tour although last years were pretty weak, I think Dave was sick or something. I would bring the guitar, never seen someone with a keyboard before...

If you call this # 860-548-7370 for the Meadows, they will give you all info.
I called, and the lady said that there is a curfew of 11, she said in the past they have extended it past that on Friday and Saturdays, but she doesnt know for sure what they are doing this year yet, said she will have all the paperwork on Wed or Thursday as far as exact times
And for Friday NERD will be on at 7 as the ticket states the start time is and 8 for Saturday (usually approx start times, but they wont be on before that)
