I've always thought of Atlanta being better than Charlotte, but the past two years in CLT have blown away the ATL show... so this year should be interesting... I've always thought of Charlotte being an abivalent stop for the band, don't get me wrong, they are good here, but I always thought of Atlanta as being better....

Charlotte 2003 was the best full band show I've seen in quite some time. We've been spoiled because of that show and a solid 2002 show - I won't say great because it isn't in the league of last years. Hopefully they'll bust out a good performance though.

Charlotte has been kick-ass the last two years. 2002 was my girlfriend's first show, and they broke out Crush, #41, and Lover Lay Down for her that night. And then last year's show was just plain sick. Charlotte has definitely been my favorite DMB venue. I can't wait for the boys to hit it up again this year. I'm officially putting in my 2 Warehouse requests this weekend. See you all there! ;)

Someone please explain to me how O.A.R., RR&FB, Galactic, N.E.R.D., Daniel Lanois, Guster, and Jason Mraz can be opening shows and we get stuck with Robert Earl Keen. What is this shit? Has anyone even heard of this guy? I listened to some samples off of his latest CD and it sucked. His sound is country-acoustic and the songs sucked from what I heard. Seems Charlotte always gets screwed with the opener as of the past few years. Hope the boys put on a good show to make up for my extended tailgating (they always seem to here in CLT).

Don't get me wrong, I am going to the show to see DMB but a good opener just seems to make for a better overall show, and you are able to get into the concert mode before the real show begins. Looks like I won't be entering the show until about 8:15ish this year. Just my 2 cents.

Robert Earl Keene would not be my first choice.. but I'm not dissapointed. I'll miss him in Charlotte, but I'll catch him the ATL. I'll be tailgating with my crew in Charlotte, so I won't be leaving that early... Tuesday in Atlanta it will just be me and my brother, while we'll booze it up in the lot outside the show, we'll go in in time to see Bobby... I'm looking forward to it...

That's the difference in having it on a Weekend night vs. a Tuesday... Every year they have it on a "school" night (even in the summer) it takes longer to sell out... just because a lot of people that work don't travel.. whereas on a weekend they will. I think Charlotte isn't a destination that a lot of people think about until they see its on a weekend and they can make it there.. stay with friends, etc... then they pick up that extra show and go.

that's cool... i was just wondering. i think the road trip is the best part of the concert. last summer, my sister, two friends and i went to columbus because i wouldn't be here when they came to Charlotte and we had an awesome time. so i wanted to do it again this year... AND see guster, too. i hadn't thought about going to king's mountain, though... sounds like a good idea. I might check that out, especially since we might have a free place to stay with my cousins. hope you have a great time, even if you don't get to see the reds...

It's pretty cool.. never had a problem tailgating there... once, at the end of a show, cops were riding through on golf carts insisting we leave immediately, which was stupid because you'd just be sitting there wasting gasoline while traffic stood still.. but thats the only issue I've ever had.

If you can (and it shouldn't be hard) try to back up to the large grassy median in the center of the main lot. then you can throw the frisbee, play baggo, set up chairs, grill out and not be right in the middle of a bunch of gravel. We seem to get by with it everytime we go. But you shouldn't have a problem. It's a pretty cool venue, I think.

I never drink before shows but my friends always do. If you're underage and looking to partake, never a bad idea to go liquor and coke or something in a coke bottle. It saves the hassle of hiding beer and using those infamous Solo cups. I'll be coming home from Governor's School after 6 weeks that day so I'll be ready to go. Atmosphere should be amazing. They definitly didn't sell out 2003, and I think that the lawn sold out only a couple of days before the show in 2002. This show has been sold out since 4 weeks after tickets went on sale.

Heh, I'll disagree with the Satellite part but with Ants and Warehouse in the first 3 songs, especially seeing as it was the best Warehouse of the entire fucking tour, then it was a pretty damn good show.

If you don't know to what I am referring about the kickass Warehouse - download it. This little salsa jam they're doing this year was reincarnated at Charlotte. Carter and Roi absolutly tear the shit out of the end of the song. Dave danced like an absolute motherfucker. The road crew made a note of it saying that "Warehouse rocked" that night. Jason posted an MP3 of it when it happened. When I get back home, I'll try to host it.

Marcy you can hook up with us again if you are not still pissed about last years show. In case you forgot, you wanted to use my ticket to come down front...sorry about that. Anyways, we will be grilling like last year, burgers hot dogs, shrimp platter for starters. If you want some food let me know......need to plan ahead. You may want to check with Rob D, I am sure he will be having his own party.

As for the weather....will be ok, they always call for afternoon thundershowers they are usually isolated and not wide spread. It was a 40% when I looked yesterday, and today they dropped it to 30%.

I think these shows (Charlotte & Raleigh) will be the heat for a couple of reasons. One, the new tunes have developed into some great jams (see Hello again from 7/17/04) and the old ones are getting some new stuff (see Too Much from 7/17/04) added to them. And they usually play some great shows here in NC, check prior years sets.

Yeah the gates should open 2 hours prior to show-time (7pm), they will usually open up the back lots earlier, but those lots suck except for the fact that you can piss in the woods rather than having to wait in line for the port-a-pottys at the main lot. Last year they made everyone wait on the side of the road going before getting into in the main lot, but would allow you to park in the back lots around 4. Getting out of the Charlotte venue is a nightmare. Raleigh has their s*** together, and you can get out rather quickly.

As for parking for Raleigh... last year they made us wait until 5 to get in, but the year before they opened up at 4.

I'm going early to this show, but for anyone that thinks they'll be rolling in close to showtime, take I-485 and get off on 29 to avoid the long line of traffic that goes all the way back to Harris Blvd. Many people still do not know that I-485 is open. Coming from I-85 North or South it will be exit #48. You'll be on I-485 for about 3 minutes then get off onto 29. I live at the corner of Harris Blvd and 29 and know what a nightmare traffic is on that road b/c people don't know about 485.

All that said, just get there early b/c you always know traffic is a nightmare in Charlotte.

Yeah.. typical summer forecast... kills me how they always predict it to be bad early.. then flip it, but thats what I expected to happen. But... a show in the rain can be killer. We saw the Chili Peppers at Verizon last summer, and it rained like you wouldn't believe.. the whole show, and it was probably the most fun I've ever had at a concert.

We are heading to Raleigh on Monday too. You gonna be there?

As for the weather....will be ok, they always call for afternoon thundershowers they are usually isolated and not wide spread. It was a 40% when I looked yesterday, and today they dropped it to 30%.

I think these shows (Charlotte & Raleigh) will be the heat for a couple of reasons. One, the new tunes have developed into some great jams (see Hello again from 7/17/04) and the old ones are getting some new stuff (see Too Much from 7/17/04) added to them. And they usually play some great shows here in NC, check prior years sets.

Yeah the gates should open 2 hours prior to show-time (7pm), they will usually open up the back lots earlier, but those lots suck except for the fact that you can piss in the woods rather than having to wait in line for the port-a-pottys at the main lot. Last year they made everyone wait on the side of the road going before getting into in the main lot, but would allow you to park in the back lots around 4. Getting out of the Charlotte venue is a nightmare. Raleigh has their s*** together, and you can get out rather quickly.

As for parking for Raleigh... last year they made us wait until 5 to get in, but the year before they opened up at 4.

yeah... I really split up my shows last year.. and that was a good move... I went to 4... 2 early and 2 late.. I got pretty different experiences at each one and it was worth it.

I'm surprised they're playing the same 4 new songs every night and not mixing it up more, like they did in the 2000 tour.. at least we're getting more variety in the sets (LIOG and Watchtower showing up.. hopefully more will appear).. and a lot of older songs are getting a bit of a makeover, and hopefully they'll whip out some more new songs as the tour progresses... too bad I won't be making any shows later in the tour though...

I'm going early to this show, but for anyone that thinks they'll be rolling in close to showtime, take I-485 and get off on 29 to avoid the long line of traffic that goes all the way back to Harris Blvd. Many people still do not know that I-485 is open. Coming from I-85 North or South it will be exit #48. You'll be on I-485 for about 3 minutes then get off onto 29. I live at the corner of Harris Blvd and 29 and know what a nightmare traffic is on that road b/c people don't know about 485.

All that said, just get there early b/c you always know traffic is a nightmare in Charlotte.
Oh yea I always go this way. Takes like 5 min. and you are in the venue. So easy to get in! Can't wait till saturday!

I couldn't agree more with you. I mean the whole point of going to the show IS to see DMB, but I would love to see Robert Randolph, OAR, or N.E.R.D.
Somebody at work asked me who was opening for DMB and I did'nt have a clue!! Have'nt even considered the opening act-too focused on Dave coming to Charlotte,I guess. I don't know who the 3-name dude is either. There are some GOOD local bands that could of been opening for them -and-of course ,there's always the Samples:lol Hey, it could of been worse;it could of been that Donovan guy(sucky,sucky,sucky).
