Molson Amphitheatre is a guranteed for me. I mean, I can see it from where I work. :) I'll probably work until 5 that day and then just walk across the CNE grounds to it. But it can be party time after because Canada Day is the next day!
As for what other shows... I'm having a huge debate. Here are my options:
option #1: hit 3 or 4 more shows in June/July around here. I'm thinking Star Lake both nights (was fun in '03), Hershey (I actually quite enjoyed the '02 show there), and Darien (never a favourite, but hey, it's close). Meadows is a possibility too.
option #2: save my money and make a trip to the Gorge. Right now, this is what I'm thinking... Toronto show and then nothing else until the Gorge (not even Darien). I'm graduating university this spring so it'll be the first Labour Day weekend EVER that I do not have to go back to school... good time to treat myself :)
I keep going back and forth on this. Decisions... decisions...

I'm for sure there...its only a 4 hour drive, I dont know where we are staying yet, maybe I'll go cheap and stay at this hostile that I've stayed at before for like $30/night. I'll end up spending all my money on the Darien Center show.

I plan to go to T.O. this year, only a 50 minute drive. Would've gone to Montreal but since that's not an option Im likely only going to Toronto.

Yeah, I would have went to all three (if they did that) Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto...but I'm happy with TO

Ill be there for sure!!!!!!!! Im even more pumped that the next day we will have off because of Canada Day, that just means more pre and post concert partying!!!! Heather- you can stay at my house if you want, but Im not 100% sure if Ill be going home, depending if I decide to stay in TO or not.. Ill let ya know.... still no CD's haha damn post office

I'm hitting TO and Darien for sure..
Apart from those shows I am thinking of Hartford or Camden (if I make a 6 + hour drive I would rather a two nighter)...
If those venues have a reputation like Darien I might think of Burgettstown, PA or Mansfield, MA instead (burgestown would be better - its on a weekend)...BUT I would rather not do all of that driving in a short time span, the nice thing about TO, Darien, and Hartford or Camden is that there is a space between all the shows...June 30, July 30, and July 16/17 or July 20/21...gives me some downtime before getting pumped for the next show!!
I cannot afford ALL of those shows, but I want to hit at least four..
We have friends in WI, so if my dad wants to go visit his friend than Aug 7,8 (conveinently a weekend) might be a lucky day for me!
I also have a friend in Tenessee that I met at the Sept 19 show last year that i've kept in touch with, and we've talked about meeting up at a show thats halfway between us.
Yesterday I hit up mapquest and got directions to every show that is a possibility, I'm excited for this tour!
Of the choices between Hartford and Camden, where would you decide?
mythmunky
02-22-2004, 03:19 PM
I'd go to Toronto and Gorge, if I could afford it, but I just can't. I'll be at the Amphitheatre, for sure though! Can't wait either!

DMB should play at that little theatre-type joint in Kitchener. I forgot the name of that place.

we should meet up somewhere before the show as well. i know last year my friends and myself parked at the venue, walked downtown for some drinks, then walked back. it's a bit of a hike, but if a bunch of ants went somewhere to meet up it'd be cool.
as for after, Atlantis sounds good to me. last year they had the official unofficial party!

After the 9.03 show, we had the shittiest time trying to get back to our hotel, the GO Train wasnt running anymore to Union Station, so we tried to hail a cab for, literally, an hour and a half!! It blew! Maybe this year, we'll actually go and party somewhere afterwards.

I got awesome seats through the WH last year...up front in the 100's. I dont know about TM tho...Its really picking between the lesser of two evils.

Im too easily pursuaded hahaha We should all definetly meet up before the concert, at least to just have a beer to meet!!!! Its times like this that I wish I had joined WH because Im scared that its going to sell out so quickly Ill be left with shitty lawn tickets... 201..on the right hand corner.....slowly migrated to the center as the show went on.
No montreal, did go to the Antioch, TN show tho :)
Looking forward to a lot more shows this year, TO was my first and I cant get enough now :) Hopefully double digits soon haha

i was just wondering about where you sat in the toronto show b/c we had two guys beside us that upgraded from 400s to 200s right before the show. but the weird thing was that we sat right beside the guys the night before in montreal!!! so they sat beside us in montreal, we saw them during the day in toronto and asked where they were sitting and they said 400s, then they upgraded and ended up beside us again. it was pretty weird.

So what are some good places to go to before the concert that are near the Ampitheatre, whenever I go there, I just go to the concert and jet, but seeing as though we have to celebrate DMB coming to town, PLUS CANADA DAY, I wanna find a wicked place to party!!!

You should be able to get rid of your tickets...i did last year..although i took a lot of heat from the scalpers..they hated me that day..since I was selling my tix for face value...one actually asked how I would feel if he came to my place of work and tried taking money away from me...so try steering clear of them. They really suck!

Toronto could easily sell out two nights... easily. Unfortunately, considering the (relatively) small size of the Amphitheatre, and the CDN-USD exchange rate, two nights sold out in Toronto is nothing compared to one night in some major US markets. That's the only reason I can't see it happening.

Ill be happy if they put another Canadian venue in the mix let alone a 2nd night in Toronto, that way we will have a chance to have half decent seats, with TO being the only Canadian venue, its going to sell out so quickly, I just hope I dont get stuck on the lawn, the sound quality isnt that great there.

I am jumping in late here....but I am going to the Toronto show too. I have put in for 2 tickets through WH but will order from TM also and sell the worst of the 2. I went to the show last year with my sister....who has been a fan longer than me but lives in Calgary so has never been to a show. She was blown away! It was fun to watch a first timer! We sat outside the venue for a few hours, listened to 2 guys play their guitars and sing DMB....they were pretty good too. We had binoculars so we were able to see across the water into where the band was hanging out....I felt like a stalker though! It was definatly the best show I have seen so far and am hoping that this year will be even better!
BTW, I live 45 minutes north of Toronto and two days after the show (july 2), will be my husband's and my closing date for our first house....going to be an exicting week!
I have put in for Darien tickets too...only because it is close. I have been the last 2 years and not liked it that much...because of the atmosphere but aw, well, you gotta suck it up if you wanna see Dave!

Really? Im not a huge fan of the lawn seats... when I saw Bowie there, the sound seemed a bit "tinny" or muffled, maybe it was just him though.... I think Id just rather be under covered seating just in case it rains or something... but I will take anything I can get, I have to be at this concert!!!!
The fireworks were really cool, the funny thing is, on the stage at the time or shortly after the fireworks, on the big screen they had fireworks during (dont remember whta song) and I thought that it was fireworks again, ya maybe had too many beers that night haha Such a good show though, I hope they put on just a good of show.... its too bad that Ben Harper wont be opening for them like he is in L.A. sorry dude, you're completely right. that was the ottawa show right? they did play that 32 min #41 there. I thought you were talking about the Toronto show where they played a 19 min LIOG. my mistake.
and by the way, i hate it on here (not your fault DMB-CRAZY, i got confused and everyone on here does it) how people have 03.03.04 as the date rather then just say, the Toronto show in 2004. i know if there is more then one it's a little different, but i don't understand why if there is only one show everyone on here writes the long date instead of the venue. just my two cents!

and by the way, i hate it on here (not your fault DMB-CRAZY, i got confused and everyone on here does it) how people have 03.03.04 as the date rather then just say, the Toronto show in 2004. i know if there is more then one it's a little different, but i don't understand why if there is only one show everyone on here writes the long date instead of the venue. just my two cents!
No worries..understable about the confusion. I think some people (like myself) write the date (ie. 04.20.02) because if you have been to many many shows, its easier, and takes up less space...but I think its personal preference!

Last year I stayed at the travellodge in ajax (I think it was ajax., or might have been whitby, no idea now)...It was directly across the road from a GO TRAIN station and only EIGHTY (yes 80) bucks after tax for one night!! Train ticket (day pas) was $13, and that got me to union station, a short walk from the amphitheatre (a few blocks)...I would do it again, but this year I think i'm flying to the show in a private plane!!!!! (very excited for that!!)
For $20 bucks more per night the sheraton may be a better bet (unless they charge for parking)...the travellodge parking was free....I was happy with that hotel.

Have temp charges showed up on anyones credit card yet for this series/show?
They havent for mine and I'm worried...I'm hoping its just a canadian thing

I've got temp charges on my account. But I wouldnt worry about it, this is the first time in 3 years that I've seen temp charges on my account. Normally I'd also say not to worry anyway because the Canadian shows never sell out (there's always instant tickets) but this year may be different as its the only Canadian show. The take home message here is that temp charges dont mean a thing and if you dont see them that means nothing.

Whoops -- I just checked again. Now it looks like I'm getting 2/3 Gorge (but reserved for both). I still won't complain. At least that's only 1 show I need to hit TM for. Considering all 3 Gorge shows have the same public onsale time, I'd hate to be trying for more than one.

Call Mastercard and ask if there are any temp charges on your account..they won't be able to tell you who charged your account..but if there is a temp charge for a large amount (and you haven't made any other large purchases)..you can assume its the warehouse..or by this time..just ask if there are any charges from the warehouse...it seems like they have billed for TO. 13th row from stage Toronto.
Let's seriously hook up for beers before the show.
I recommend the Devil's Advocate at 655 Bay
Maybe an hour or two before the show head to the treehouse in the Amphitheatre grounds. If you're looking at the water from the carpark the treehouse is on the far left. It's aptly named so you can't miss it.
I got declined on my WH tix - short by approx $30. Fuck!!!!

Here are my experiences...
Though I expect demand is up this year (no Montreal show, no Michigan show, no SPAC... and better timing), last year WH members did very well for Toronto. The vast majority of WH tickets -- from what I read on the various boards -- where in the 100s and 200s. It seems a good number of first year members were even in the 200s. On the other hand, most TM people were in the 300s and worse. Correct me if I'm wrong, just my observations.
I went to Toronto with a group of 4 last year. My WH pair was in sec. 202 (second year member at the time) and my TM pair, getting right through at 10am, was sec. 304. For Toronto, I think sticking with your WH pair will be fine.
For Darien... it's tough. Darien Lake is not a huge venue, and a large chunk of good seats are for coporate/vip/Clear Channel, so what you get from WH may not be very impressive. You'll pretty much have to be 4th year or greater to get anything better than the 300s. On the other hand, you may not have any better luck with TM. Darien Lake is high demand... it'll sell out faster than a lot of places. I'm not sure what to suggest here, but don't get your hopes up for great seats from either TM, or WH. :)

Go for one pair on;line BUT I'll bet you, even without Montreal or Ottawa, your WH tix will be brilliant. 13th row in the 100's was SOOOO close - it was an awesome experience.
I spoke today to the Warehouse, AMEX Front Of The Line, Ticketmaster and Molson Amphitheatre box office. The only person that confirmed this show is on was the Warehouse (the most important)
Amphitheatre said the show is not confirmed and ticketmaster said the same - that is why it's THE ONLY show of the tour to not be placed on TM as an onsale date of Saturday April 3rd at noon.
Oh well, hopefully they'll put it up on Monday. I've just never seen a show where the whole tour is confirmed by the Official Site and yet the tix are not showing as coming up, despite the rest of the tour being listed.

Im not a huge fan of the lawn, Ive seen a few concerts there, and I always find the sound to not be as good, kind of echo'd or tinny, but maybe it was jsut the bands that I saw, Ive never seen Dave while on the lawn there, so it may be fine.... I would say get there early so that you aren't stuck up on the top of the hill though, because if you are closer to the bottom, your view is pretty good, although I wouldnt say that there is any really bad seats in the place, I love the venue, especially watching a summer concert, its pretty sweet....

Lawn is nice... I've only seen one show from the lawn (Coldplay last June) and the sound was a bit low at first, but either I got used to it or they fixed the problem a few songs in.
Other than that -- lawn is great! Lawn capacity is 7,000... compared to 15,000 to 20,000 at many U.S. venues. And it's at a decent incline. This means even at the very back, it's not too bad of a view at all. I can only base it on one experience, but people were pretty cool and mature. Peaceful but fun lawn. Plus, from the lawn you can see the city skyline in the distance above the pavilion roof and to your left the sun sets over the lake. It's quite beautiful on a summer night.
Attached a cool picture of the venue, borrowed from Weezer's site. It's a fish-eye, so that distorts thing a bit... and the open area in front is the pit... replaced with about 16 rows of chairs for DMB's 100 level.

It's still bullshit.
DMB is the only act at the Amphitheatre they are pulling this shit for.
Last year was 4 tix each and 6 in the lawns.
2 each - that's well out of order, 80's style!
I've got 4 people all together. We have drinks before and after no doubt but we wont be sitting together which sucks balls.
I notice ticketmaster says 6 ALL TOGETHER. I'm waiting right now to speak to someone. If I get 2 then get another 2 on the same account and one of them gets cancelled I'll freak

That's okay. I'll be sitting with my brother which will be fine by me. My two buddies Mike and Clint can enjoy the ahow. We'll ba hanging out before the show at Boathouse Bar & Grill 207 Queens Quay and then drinks at the Amphitheatre in the treehouse hopefully with some fellow Ants at both sites.
After much debate I think it's cool that the scalpers will be a little screwed by this 2 ticket thing. The more DMB fans paying face value the better.
The Instant Ticketing I referred to was because last year I got 2 tickets in Sec 203 approx row 11 which was awesome. I was in Sec 102 row 13. :)
I know I wont get 4 together but neither will the scalpers and that's good news.
Sucks for brockboi though; he has 3 people going. Not quite as easy as 4. Someone is on their own or you get 400's or lawns. Nothing wrong with the lawns but DMB at Amphitheatre is an excellent gig when you get close.
I went to Coldplay last year and had 6th row in sec 406. It was an excellent concert and the view is not bad but I really enjoy getting close for DMB. Seeing the way they communicate with each other and their facial gestures - can't beat it.
It just surprised me when I first saw it.
Ticketmaster will allow you to get 3 pairs. Just not at the same time. If you have more than 6 tickets all together on the same name, billing address or CC they will cancel all of them. So at least I should still be able to get my 4 tickets. 2 of them will be much better than the other two - which is why I hope there's some Instant Tickets.
You're right though - we wont be together as four. :(

Ive been in the 400's as well and its not that bad, Im glad that my one friend bailed on me, as bad as this sounds because now its just me and my sister so we can have a better chance of getting close..... Im actually going to my work where we are on a network so that the internet line is quicker, because when I got tickets for MSG last year, I was on the site like 1 min after tickets went on sale and we were up in the very balcony behind the stage (really shitty tickets) so Im hoping that with a faster PC it might help me get better seats as well... I dont care too much though, as long as I get there!!!!!

so here is my plan of attack. i'm going after two tickets. if i get two in the 100s (no chance in hell) or 200s then i'm keeping them and getting two off TM if i still can with another credit card or get two off someone who is selling. if i don't get two good ones, then i'm just going after 4 in the 400s of lawn.
so if anyone is selling extra's i'll prob. be buying if i only get two through TM.

I have a question.... when you buy them off TM, you can choose 100,200,300 etc or you can select best available, do you think its best to do best available and see what they come up with or try to get 100's or 200's???

Do you know by the way where XX is, is it in the back? I'm guessing it is, but on the seating chart it goes ZZ, then W and something else?

Got WH reserved, but I'll be with a group of four so I grabbed a second pair today. 304, row L. Brutal. Oh well, at least WH will be good like last year.
You know what's disgusting though?
$3.75 per ticket facility charge
$9.25 per ticket TM convenience fee
$5.50 for "TicketFast" or $3.00 for will call or mail.
With the cheapest option, it's almost $30 in fees for a pair of tickets.
WH ain't lookin' so bad again...

What is with the tickets for this show on eBay saying
Ontario Residents: Ontario province law restricts the resale price of a ticket for this venue (event location). If you are a resident of Ontario, your maximum bid cannot exceed $398.00. More information on eBay's ticket policy. (That is for Sec 303 row K) and this is for sec 203 row WW.
Ontario Residents: Ontario province law restricts the resale price of a ticket for this venue (event location). If you are a resident of Ontario, your maximum bid cannot exceed $599.98. More information on eBay's ticket policy.

Hopefully the Warehouse will be doing Instant Ticketing and I can pick up 2 more. I have 8 people including myself that want to go so if I can pick up another set of 200's though Instant Ticketing I will sell the 400's - ay face value of course.
i got four, my brother got four.
The Sec 201 row ZZ came up AFTER the 406's?!? i can only presume that the first set of people trying to get tickets either clicked the wrong button (like accidentally hitting search again) or were declined on their cards - so the good seats on hold were released.
I think I did well. If any of the people I got tickets for can't go I will post them here to see if any Ants want them.

the lawns are about 2-3 feet higher than the top row of the 400s section. even with people standing for the show, you should be able to see the stage and the large tv screens.
there's a separate entrance for the lawn ticket holders, too.
there's a walkway from one side of the amphitheatre to the other, between the 400s and the lawns.
(by the way, on the side of section 410, there is the vip area, a less crowded beer tent, and a less crowded washroom). not sure if there'll be a 'merchandise tent' there this year...
i've seen a whole slew of shows there and sat all over the place...the lawns are fine...there's a great view of the islands and lake ontario from the top of the hill, too!
hope this helps...

Yeah -- like dmbjc said, don't worry about lawns.
In that picture, there is no lawn behind the 400s sections in view. The lawn doesn't quite extend the full width of the reserved area. I posted a picture earlier in this thread that sorta shows this. But the lawn is probably a good 5 ft above anybody in the last row of 400s. Don't worry, Molson Amp is my favourite lawn of any venue, probably the only lawn I'm willing to take... but I won't for DMB :)

WE had lawn seats last year. We just made sure we were there early so when the gates opened we got the very front of the lawn and centre. THere is a walkway infront of the lawn, a guard rail and about a 10 foot drop down to where there is another walkway and the 400's. The security wouldn't let anyone stand against the guard rail, so it was a perfect view and plently of room for dancing!

Although speculating is still fun. DMB opening act is normally off at the Amphitheatre by 7:30pm - which gives ample time to get to Nathan Phillips. You can walk to Nathan Phillips from the Amphitheatre in that time.
We await with baited breath. I saw the 04/19 and 04/20 shows in 2002 but I have never seen Daniel Lanois. I would dig seeing him at Molson Amphitheatre and seeing DMB have him out on stage to do The Maker.

i really wish i ordered toronto tickets now. I got 10th row last year from the warehouse and im sure i would have gotten the same this year. If you are anywhere in the 100's you will have a ball, its a great venue. I actually met Woody Harrelson there last year, he was sitting 3 seats away from me.

yeah the toronto show last year was amazing. i just got the audio for it the other day too and made a couple copies of it. it sucked that the tapers picked the two canadian shows to hold onto b/c people were bitching about them getting the shn's out. but anyways, great show last year and the audio for it is def. worth the download.
what D&F show DMB-Crazy? is it the Rochester one? i'm just getting the DVD for it now. it's also on sharing the groove, but it's 8 gigs!!! i'm 85% done, can't wait to get it and people are saying it's a sweet DVD.

rochester was 12-20-03...the d&f show
on sharing the groove mostly you want to check out the auidio or video bit torrents. you need to download a program to get bit torrents to work. check out the FAQs. when you have the software you just click on the link and select where you want to put the files and download away. if something messed up, you can resume. if you want to know anything else about it you can PM me. i don't know much about BT downloads, but getting used to it now.

From the groove you first need to go to bittorrent.com and download bit torrent 3.4
then when you go to the groove you just click on the torrent file-usually on the first post, and it will ask you where you want to save it. Most often it saves in .shn so if you have winamp you can download a file that converts it to shnamp - or use MKW to convert it to .WAV.
Incidentally nathan Phillips is at Bay and Queen, not Univ. and Queen - but you can still walk there from the Amphitheatre in less than an hour. you can make the drive in about 10 minutes. DMB hits the stage normally at around 8:03-8:10, not 9:00pm. The curfew at the Amphitheatre is 11pm so if DMB took the stage at 9 they would not be able to play their full set. You can soundcheck two places at once. Elton played London then NYC within 5 hours at Live Aid - no reason why BF&TFT can't do Lakeshore/Strachan to Bay/Queen within 1 1/2 hours!! :D
Maybe Peter Griesar will open.....but I'm just speculating of course. Last year I had WH 103 row 13. This year I'm looking at my TM tix right now for sec 203 row YY and sec 201 row ZZ. Awesome. Anywhere at the Amphitheatre is good but I sure do like those 100's and 200's for DMB!!!

what are people going to this show looking for in a setlist? i'm going to toronto, darien, and SPAC if it does happen this year and i'm expecting something different from each show. for toronto i'm looking for a uptempo fast paced show. after the set played there last year how could i expect less. for darien i'm looking at a slower show, with the odd long jam in there.
what do you think?

Don't worry. The 100's on the far side are only 13 rows. If you're in row B you'll have an AMAZING view of the stage and all the band. Believe me - you will not need to look at the screen AT ALL to see their facial expressions.
Have an awesome time. The 200's are 5' above the 100's! No obstruction at all.
In Toronto I would love to see
Seek Up
One Sweet World
Bartender (it was totally brilliant at Amphitheatre Aug 2001)
Grey Street
BOWA
Last Stop
Spoon (cuz it was SO brilliant last year)
and of course some stuff from the new album if it makes it out at the start of the tour! Suhweeeeet!

you're right, "expecting" is such an exact word, and it's not like that. when i say expect i just mean what i'm thinking going into the show. either way i'll be entertained as well.

201 is a sweet section, I sat there last year.
I have seats in 303, 203 or 201 (I forget), and 101 row N (I believe). Looking very very forward to this show...would love to see LIOG, Last stop, and spoon again.
Is the recording of last years show good quality?
