I know its not announced but my best friend just called me, whose father is on the board of SPAC(they are the ones you figure out when certain bands can come) and he said that they are definatly coming for 2 night and that there might be a possible 3rd night.
Now with this if you look at the stops you can see alot of 2-3 day gaps inbetween stops, again this possible could be for 3 night stops. I know you guys dont believe me but i can assure you dmb will be at SPAC this year.

thats what they said i believe it would be in the gap between 6/30 (toronto) and 7/6(mansfield) it would make sense too because spac is somewhat in the middle of the two

Hey guys, i saw the news, I live in the area...not to say he's incorrect but I'm pretty sure the story is about how the NYC ballet will not be coming to SPAC this year. It is a disappointment to some, so probably more likely to be the story than DMB. Also I don't recall hearing anything about a big announcement, but I could be wrong. I will watch the news and tell you if I hear anything else.

"Hundreds of people showed up at the Saratoga Library to support the continuation of the NYC Ballet at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC). The supporters packed themselves into the community room in order to find a way for the ballet to continue its run at the Center.
SPAC started as a summer home for the NYC Ballet back in 1966, but now 39-years later the board says it is just too costly to support and voted to end the relationship after the 2004 summer.
However, those at the meeting say you cannot put a price tag on the arts.
The organizers discussed many plans to reinstate the ballet. They are circulating a petition in support of the NYC Ballet, which now has up to 3,000 signatures. They are also encouraging people to begin to buy tickets for the 2005 season. Plus, they are getting help from assemblyman Jim Tedisco who says the legislature had no idea SPAC was having trouble. Local leaders want to get the Saratoga City Council behind the "Assemblyman's efforts, pushing to get a resolution to reject the board's decision.
There's the story . . . sigh . . .

I don't know, I think they will be playing at SPAC or they have a festival planned for that time. I just don't see them skipping SPAC or the lower NY region. But, as mentioned, ordering begins soon. If they are not announced then it is just going to cause all sorts of problems. Seems like they announced these tourdates a little early this year, perhaps so they can do ticketing for the festival? Who knows-certainly not me. I wasn't planning on hitting up SPAC this year anyway but I am very surprised they will not be playing there.

NY does get treated well, but it's also a really big market with a ton of fans. I think the fact that there is more uproar over the deletion of SPAC than the deletion of Continental / MSG just goes to show that SPAC is a really special place to see the band, and that's why it is such a disappointment.

If what they're saying about not being able to announce dates until SPAC does is true, it makes perfect sense that the Warehouse would play ignorant. They're not immune to the rules of the venue.

If it is happening? How long will they leave it until announcing it??
Why put off the "announcement," if there is one. Everyone who is hitting multiple shows will be making (or trying to) make their plans right now, so are they planning on letting the fans know once all their cash has been spoken for with other tickets, hotels, flights? I wouldnt think so.
I'm hoping for a SPAC show, but doubtful as to what to do in the meantime.

like someone said, a seperate series, but money management wise it's a poor idea.
secondly, i am right about SPAC releasing their dates, it's happened in the past and to dmb as well (refer to previous posts in this thread)
thirdly, about a release date, whos knows. if and when they release their lineup, dmb can hold out as it could pertain to the festival. whereas if it's a regular 4th of july show they may announce it after the public onsale date, and have another series/public date. or they may even release it before the public date

i'm pretty sure that is what i have heard. it might not be their big crew party, but i know they all like to enjoy the day off.
so if anything, spac would have to fall july 1-3. but, i am still thinking that isn't gonna happen. i think if they are going to do that they would probably announce it before the ticketing period is over to allow people to change requests. (from a business standpoint it would be better to just announce it after the ticket period, but dmb is pretty good to their fans, i can't see them adding it after the fact)

I was just making a statement because you flat out said "dave isnt going to play 4 nites in a row, not even 3." like he had told you his plans or something. Now if you would have said something to the effect of "They aren't scheduled for any 3 or 4 night stands." But you stated what you thought was a fact, as if you had information from the band that no one else had.

I would have all that too.
If this guy at the bridge is telling the truth I dont see why they wouldnt have released the date to the public. If Clear Channel is the reason behind it then why did this guy get it. Most of the shows that have been announced go on sale March 27th that is just over 3 months before the "SPAC shows." Most concerts go on sale to the public about 3 months before they happen, and a show this big would be annoucned that early. And then theres the Warehouse requesting. When would that happen? It just doesnt make sense that if they are supposed to be at SPAC and the dates are set then why wouldnt they be released yet? Clear Channel is a bitch but this just wouldnt make good business sense, if they are really behind this. Its nice to see all these optomistic people in here but to me I just dont see it. If it does happen I will be happy for you guys, you will get your show.

not that i'm trying to be a dick or anything, but why not just get over it. i know that obviously some of you won't be able to make other shows for whatever reason, but many of you will still be seeing the band this summer. i live just about an hour from Detroit and no one around here is dedicating an entire thread to bitching about it. sure, there was complaining in the CoPa thread, but we all got over it. you all should just be glad that they're touring at all.
that's just my two cents, and i know you all probably will bash me now, though.
If SPAC would come out and announce their dates, I think it would quiet us up quite a bit. However, there is still the mystery looming in the air as to whether or not the band will play there. This is a big deal to some people because SPAC is such a great venue to see a show. Not going there this year would really bum us out.
Furthermore, this is a message board. People in real life don't really care about tour dates, so this is where we can whine all we want about it.

i can understand where you're coming from. i've got a friend here that loves making the trip out to SPAC whenever he can. i didn't actaully know that they hadn't announced any dates, but i know a few venues around here don't have dates yet, although some individual artists have announced their tours. for what it's worth, i do hope everything works out for you all and you possibly will have some luck with a Series 5 :)
Furthermore, i know this is a message board. people like me in real life don't normally start quarrels, so this is where i get to be tough, kinda ;) :lol

'Tis not a quarrel; 'tis a discussion!
Now you see why our panties are in a bunch. SPAC won't let any performers advertise dates at the venue until they themselves come out with the announcement. Either DMB is early, or SPAC is late. Either way, SPACs webpage mocks you with the words "Come back soon!". I still have faith, however. Most things people are saying point towards the gap between June 30th and July 6th for possible dates. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. SPAC holds a special place in my heart, as I saw one of my favorite shows there (7-29-02).
We don't mean to complain too much, but the wait for an answer is killing us!
Furthermore, I get to be tough in real life, as I'm a jaded, by the books cop, assigned to be mis-matched partners with a hot-headed, quick witted rookie. Sorry, my Nyquil is starting to kick in :)

Only date I can find that checks out is Rush on August 9th. Most other bands don't have anything beyond the end of their spring tours (April)

you know if there is no SPAC Show this yr...neither the band, ClearChannel, or SPAC is going to say publicly "there is no show at SPAC this yr//" and that sucks...so how long do we wait? I mean is it gonna get to mid june and were gonna be like "theres still hope!"? I wish theyd just tell us one way or the other.

I think it looks official. If it's a calender sitting around in an office, they don't need fancy letter heads, state seals and official theme music. It could very well be legit. But of course, as with most things on the internet, I can't believe it %100.

Where are you staying ? I stayed at Playmore Farms in 02' , wasn't too bad . I'm not sure if I'm gonna get a hotel this year or stay at my friend's summer house ( 30 minutes away ). Depends on weather or not I have female company with me :)

Honestly, I forget. Back when the "phoney" dates came out (funny how a lot of them turned out to be legit) my dad got all excited and booked a hotel somewhere in Saratoga. Him and my mom want to go to a show there with me and my girlfriend since I've been going to so many shows lately. He wants in on the action.
I should also mention that back when he was looking for a hotel, the one Hilton (I think) in Saratoga was booked solid for July 2nd. Coincidence??

Sting ends his European Tour 6.20.04 http://www.stingfan.de/tickets/ so it's possible he may start another US leg of his tour (though yet to be announced).
I still don't think anything is in stone since that was the only date I could find. The calendar looked to be a tentative one only for the reason that on 08.15 (or 12) it said Rush/Carlin. Makes me think that it was a possible date for Rush or (George?) Carlin.

Errr Opening Day for Saratoga is July 28th. The richest 6 weeks of racing. The trotters track is open but definately NOT as busy as the main track. The August show last year was right towards the end of the race season.

that's actually a great way to spend the day. Track during the day, leave after the 11th race and head right across the street into the main entrance by the golf course. Did that in 2001 and 2002 both days.
