There has been some talk on the boards recently about a festival in the NYC area. Anyone have any ideas on where this festival could take place? I know it isnt lower NY but i think that woodstock would be cool.....

I think the speculation is coming from the fact there are really no NYC-area venues on the summer tour.
With that, I would say the Riverhead location that Bonnaroo NE was scheduled for, but I doubt that would happen since it didn't happen before. But it would amazing for me. I'm like 20 minutes from there.

Don't worry, it wont be in NY. After CP, they won't throw a festival there.

honestly though, why not?
looking at demographics, that seems to be the most accessible place for the most fans. somewhere in ny that is. logically, it is the best place to do a festival. obviously not in the city, but maybe upstate to stay away from the city.
i could even see it happening in eatern PA.
i mean, hell, Phish did a festival in maine, right?

Its too much of a risk of alienating a large part of the fanbase. If NY gets the festival, people on the West Coast, particularly Gorge fans, will have a fit. If Washington or Oregon gets the festival, NY, NJ, and Massachusetts people will flip out. It makes sense to do it in the middle of nowhere so that it is fairly equal travel for all.

"but the gorge is the only 3 night venue, the east coast should have the festival!"

if the festival was calculated to be in an area of equidistance from all dmb fans, taking into acount density of fandom in large population areas, it would be held in Chemical Ali's backyard. Unfortuatly, they cant play anywhere that wont piss of fans.

Not neccesarily equidistant, but somewhere where everyone will be equally pissed off. I think North Dakota would be good.
