I'm probably going to Selma and the Woodlands this year, and I was wondering what the acoustics are like at both the venues. I was at the Gorge last year, and I had lawn seats, and I could barely hear, so I was hoping that all ampitheaters weren't like that. I AM GOING TO (fingers crossed with ticketmaster) get reserved seating this year though.

the lawn's awesome at Selma if you get close to the cover... acoustics fade as you get to the top of the grass (duh)...
under the cover in the reserved seats, the acoustics are awesome...

Woodlands is fantastic, went to my first show ever there last summer, was about halfway back on the lawn and acoustics were great. Awesome venue all around.

Woodlands is the best ampitheater in the south, along with AmSouth.

There's a new Marriott right across the street from the venue. Last year a lot of people coming in for the show stayed there for around $50/night via Priceline. It's a nice hotel, right across the street from the venue, and close to the mall, and a number of restaurants. I would recommend that hotel.

Any comping near the venue for the woodlands? We are confirmed for both nights (reserved) and are going to camp out? e-mail me... nowak@gvtc.com ...if you have any camping knowledge. Also, how is the parking? :monkey

Parking's going to suck if they don't allow people to park in the mall parking lot which is right next door. We we're allowed to park there last year, but I heard we won't this year. Luckily there are a few hotels that are walking distance.
As to camping, I'm not sure, but keep in mind that even in August it's liable to be hot as all hell down there.

yeah - in august it is hotter than hell! if you MUST camp, i suggest a short drive to lake conroe... it's going to be the prettiest, closest place.
