I did it last year.
Flew to Seattle and drove to Gorge, there has to be a better way. Anyone know of one? (Flying into Moses Lake, or Yakima?)

Be careful with speeding too. Got me a nice little ticket for 10 over the morning after night 2 on the way back to Seattle.

not worth it,the biggies fly to Wenatchee, but thats nearly an hour from the Gorge, might as well just rent the car and drive from Seattle

What's the average total transportation cost for the weekend? I mean, how expensive are the rental cars and how do us young folk get around the state without a car? I am trying to convince a friend to go with me (19 and 20 years), but I don't really know the details or fixes for transportation.

I was figuring in about 650-700 total. That is airfare and transportation and food and tickets. Not sure how I can swing that and then seven other shows...I really want to go now that it's a three day spread over Labor Day weekend.

First of all, you should move to the NW. There isn't a better place to live anywhere and it cuts you transportation cost to the Gorge. It's a win-win. Last year trans. cost me about $25

Im not saying I live in a great place, but I don't think many people want to move somewhere where it rains every other day all year around.

Ahh its good to see that people still listen to the sterotype that it does nothing but rain in Seattle. Its good...so they won't want to move here.
You can not beat the summers here. 80s mostly...into the 90s sometimes. Sun. Sun. and more Sun. Not to hot. Not to humid.
I mean wait...no it rains here 365 days a year! It has rained like 14 inches today alone, and it is only 1:30pm. STAY AWAY.

Really, I was joking about the "Move to the NW" comment. However, people's perception of the rain here is simply wrong. Yes, it does rain here more than other places, but from last May 'til October I believe we had about 4 rainy days and 160 sunny days in the 90's. By October I was dying for some rain.

I am flying in ... some people were thinking about meeting on Thursday and rented a bus ass van to take everyone to the gorge. I am down for that - splitting the cost. A bunch of people are camping - where I dunno. It would be cool to get all the ants people at the same campground. My friend resereved a place at the wildhorse (or something like that) but i heard getty's is better. Any opinions?

u better believe i'll be back this year. wuz there in '02. didn't go last year cuz only 2 nights. wasn't worth the hassle IMO. airfare was $200 round trip, rental car (coincidentally a suburu outback - NOT BY CHOICE!) was $100, hotel was $100 for 2 nights (AAA rules). stayed in wenatchee. nice area, nice 40 minute drive to the gorge. very scenic; but of course, so is all of washington! booked everything about 5 weeks in advance through expedia. if you book now, you will pay out the ass.

I love how other places in the U.S. actually get more inches of rainfall than we do...but because we generally do not get the hard downpour thunderstorms, our rain is spread out over numerous drizzly days. We did have some hard rains in November with flooding. That was a trip.

don't know why this is. since the whole market ordeal coupled with 9.11, airfare has functioned this way. if you are doing the hotel thing, i would book now. you could, of course, do the priceline thing. they now have an option to choose specific times and flights, but you won't save any more than you would through travelocity, expedia, or orbitz. this is just from my experience, so please find what works for you...
i am going to bonnaroo and doing the camping thing there. gonna "wook-out" for a weekend. since i am taping, i will be trimming down my gear to the bare minimum. battery weight will be bad enuff as it is. will have to use either a generator or power invertor to charge batteries overnight. for gorge i'll be breaking out the good stuff, so i won't be able to camp with all that equipment...but we'll still hang out marcy!!! :D

It is usually hot in the day, and some feel it is a little chilly at night. If you get cold easy, take a windbreaker or something. But after roasting in the sun all day, I personally welcome the breeze.
