--I know there are a lot of stupid threads. I hope this is not one of them.--
But I thought I'd throw this out there for the rest of the Coloradoans who got the shaft on tour dates. (Only a few of my friends are into DMB, so I'm reaching out to the DMB community here!)
Albuqurque is 6 hours 52 mins from Denver, so pretty good distance for a roadtrip I'm thinkin! (The Kansas and Arizona shows are about 1 hour or so farther)
I know Warehouse/DMB fans have gotten together before, and I'm about to make my WH ticket requests, so I thought I'd see if any others would want to arrange something to go see the Albuquerque show?
On another note, has anyone ever been to the New Mexico Journal Pavilion before? What is it like? Can you camp?

i live in co and im doing alb and phx and still thinking about doing san diego and la. i dont know about camping but i have found hotels for like 44 a night so to me, a real bed is worth that after driving. im not going to do kansas bc i heard the venue blows, and to me its not worth it for one show. this way i can do two or even 5 shows.
and then im also still holding out for spac and i will fly out for that if and when it happens.

Good point about needing a nice comfy bed after all that driving! Was it a Best Wester or Sleep/Comfort/Clarion inn that you found for $44? I'll have to investigate to see what else is in that area?
I'm hoping that Journal Pavilion has good sound/crowd/facilities/etc. Have you been there before?

We are thinking of doing a road trip to the five shows starting in ALB. ALB to PHX to SD to LA. If more people wanted to do the week long journey we could probably save some money on gas and lodging. I would probably fly back after LA though to get some work days in before leaving for the Gorge.
Who's comin with me man??

have you priced that out yet, bc when my gf and i priced it, it was like a good 900 bucks.

03-02-2004, 03:50 PM
Yeah its definitely pricey. I am going to wait to get the tix to the show off ticketbastard or the message boards, because I am already spending $900 on 6 shows I'm requesting from WH. Thats why it is a good idea to travel with a group, less money on expenses cause the tix to the shows are fixed.
eisnach41
03-02-2004, 06:25 PM
yeah right now as a poor college kid i would love to but 900 is i think too high. we were going to go to the gorge and i would spend out the ass for that but this too me just isnt the same.

I'll check out the Best Western rates, thanks for the tip!

hmmmm. I think Sandstone is a pretty nice venue.... if for nothing else, it's pretty small, with really no bad seats.... Ive always had a great time there.... went in 1996, 1999 and 2000, never knew people disliked the place.

hey im looking at satying at the guest house international and i was wondering if anyone who is from the area knew if that was fairly close. bc mapquest said about 20 or 30 min to the venue but the lady at the hotel there said with traffic on the frontage rd that it would be close to 2 hrs which i thought would be a little high. anyone have any ideas, the hotel is on i-40 at eubank blvd. thanks

Lots of cheap hotels in Albuquerque. And the venue is small and nice, still quite new. Pretty decent sound. Y'all should have a great night and then come on down the road and party with us in Phoenix on 8/24.

Im coming to Phoenix any good cheap places around the concert area that yall can think of?
mray10
07-27-2004, 03:01 PM
Cricket Pavilion (the Phoenix amphitheatre) is out on the west side of two (rougly 80th Avenue). I'm sure there are quite a few hotels in the area because the venue is only a short ways from I-10. Anything close to I-10 and between, say, 70th-90th Avenue will be close. Just make sure that you're looking at Avenues and not Streets. Phoenix is confusing like that.

Are you insane? J/k, but that's a pretty long drive late at night after the energy of a concert.
In 2000 (when I was living in Tucson) I saw Pearl Jam in Albuquerque on Friday night, stayed in a hotel there that night, drove to Phoenix for the show Saturday night, drove up to Flagstaff and stayed with my gf, then drove to Vegas for the Sunday night show and was planning on getting back to Flag, but was so tired I ended up staying in Kingman. That was one crazy fuckin' weekend.

before show meet up!!
The reservation has been made at
Kelly's for 3:00 on Monday. The address is 3200
Central Ave SE. They are happy to have us there,
since most of them are DMB fans themselves. Bring
instruments, I've already warned them spontaneous
singing may break out.
After party:I called the owner of Stella Blue and he would be
stoked to have us go over there for the after party.
He said he'll def. be open until bar time. If you've
never been there before they are a jam band bar with a
Grateful Dead theme deco and a live music venue as
well. Very cool. It's on 3001 Central NE, just a few
blocks away from Kelly's on the corner of Central and
Girard. Here's their website.

If you can make it it will be good times, they have a
great juke box selection.

My friend and I aren't driving up from Colorado, but we'd love to meet up with some fellow ants before and after the show. My friend plays guitar, so I'll have him bring it along for some of that "spontaneous singing", only his in case, it'd be jamming. We're actually driving up from Lubbock for the show and we're already stoked. I'm excited about seeing dave outside of Texas and getting away from those Dallas fans. Anyways, hope everyone has a great time! Peace - Baker sec 6 row N

Kelly's is all ages, Stella Blue is over 21. The waitresses are DMB fans themselves. I have a feeling there will be more than the 35 people we originally made the reservation for, but the more the merrier.
