I think I'm gonna be on the lawn with about 15-20 friends. Anyone have any idea how early we can show and stand outside the gates up or ideas for killing time? I wanna be right in the front.

I'll be there. We got lucky with security in the parking lot last year b/c they knew it wasn't Coca-Cola in our cups and were still cool about telling us what was up.
As for my seats, I don't think I can get any closer then I did nite 2 last year with my upgrade. All I know from WH is that I'm under the roof which is fine by me.
But yeah, August in Cincy, it's going to be a scorcher.

Man it's going to be a fun ass show. Guster opening is a great selection that I'm thrilled the band finally made. I'll be going to Riverbend then Kings Island the next day with a friend. Should be a great time. Wish there was a Reds game though.

last year we went to night 1, kings island all day the next day, then back to the ampitheatre for the 2nd show. after the show we made the 4hr drive home. i was tired, but it was damn fun!

i dont think security is to tuff inside the venue last year night two there was a group of three girls dancin around in big circles smokin a pretty decent sized glass pipe while it was still light out and no one said shit to them, i have been there for pretty many concerts and gotten baked at most all of them and never had any problems

I'll be there. Got a single ticket through TM so that I could get the best seat possible (let my WH membership expire - couldn't afford the $35 a year to MAYBE get good seats). I'm down in Section 300 Row H, so I'm happy. Unfortunately, this is my only show this year because my finacee and I are saving money for our wedding in March. I went to the tour opener in Columbus, both nights in Cincy and night 1 of Deer Creek last year though, so I'll probably appreciate this one show more. Hope to meet some of you there. ;)

Just going to throw this in this thread...if ANYONE has 2 or 3 pavilion seats that they would like to sell, I'm really looking. One of my friends had tickets for all three nights at The Gorge...and now we have to go back to work on Sept. 2nd, so this would be her only show this summer if we can find some Cincy tickets. I've been lucky enough to go to Columbus and Cleveland, but they figured since they were going out west, they'd skip the Ohio shows....so hook us up!

How easy is it to rent a boat and take it behind the stage at Riverbend?

I think I saw at least 2 boats behind the stage last year, it seemed like a nice way to chill and listen to the show without having to deal with the crowd and that crappy Lawn set up.

Any ideas or suggestions?

As for boating: There are usually 15-30 anchored behind the venue if it's a good show. The traffic will be much better getting off the water than out of the lot for sure.

glad to hear that so many of you are making the trip to cincinnati, my hometown. i've been to every DMB show there for the last five years, and i don't know why anyone would complain about the setup or security. don't blaze in the parking lot, just wait until you get to the lawn. park in the river downs parking lot (the racetrack right next to riverbend). it's free and quick. at least it always has been. i'm living in VA now, so i haven't been to riverbend yet this year. i'm really excited about guster opening, i saw them open for dave at riverbend in 2000, one of my all-time favorite shows. spend the day of the show chilling at coney island, don't go to kings island the day of the show. go to skyline for a bite to eat after the show. as for hotels, you should probably just go across the bridge to newport, kentucky. it's only 5-10 minutes from riverbend. any other questions, let me know. i've lived 5 minutes from riverbend my whole life and i've gone to about 20 or so shows there. do you think there's any chance of trading lawn tickets and cash for pavillion? i'd be interested. i've never had pavillion for DMB. always in the lawn partying with a big crew, but this year i'd rather go for the music. went to the Hershey show this weekend and that will be hard to top. see you all there

okay so im from cincy and have been to lots of shows at riverbend but have one question, how is the tailgaiting, i know over to the riverdowns side there isnt much but i know the parking lot off to the right of the venue (facing the venue and the river) seems like there is usually a pretty decent party there. a friends family has owned the camp ground just off past that lot right on the river for a long as time so we usually party there and walk to the show thus going right thru the lot and it always seems cool, my question is it cool enough to bring some lawn chairs and a small grill and really tailgate it up and meet some cool people?

Alright....deleima, I was supposed to go with my GF but we're "low on cash" now since we're getting an apartment in Aug....BUT I can't stop thinking about going. SO I'm thinking I might just ------say fuck it and go. Honestly this is one of those few summer tour's where I technically COULD afford it, but it wouldn't be the best decision (to someone else that is);)

Would I be absolutely INSANE if i drove from Chicago to Cincy for the one show and came right back home(doubt i'd stay in a hotel alone, unless im beat).

I went to the Chicago show solo (Kfiredanzer knows whats up) but im thinkin I might just GO. If I could get a single pavilion that'd be great but I just want to hear the music ya' know? I mean even though ill be at both alpine's 3 shows in 4 days is like a freakin dream and this is actually possible in my scenario......

go for it. i'm making the 6 hour drive from VA thursday morning and coming back to be at work by 5 pm on friday. after the hershey show last saturday, i made the 4.5 hour drive back to VA, rolled in around 5 am and made it to work by 9:30. and i can tell you that it was completely worth it. i get bills to pay every month, but DMB tickets only come so often and are far more memorable. i'm all for an ants tailgate before the show, especially if i can make it in time to tailgate. but i will definitely be sure to make it inside to see all of Guster's set.

Another alternative, althought it would cost a few xtra dollars and I know they are hard to come by sometimes, but Coney Island is the Pool and amusement park right next to Riverbend, we were thinking about spending the day in the sun pool side, drinking some beer(you can bring coolers in) and relaxing and then walking over to Riverbend, less than 5 min walk. You have to pay to get into the park but when they start parking for the dave show, if you park on the right side of Coney Island you have to walk thru the park that has shelters, we were thinking about getting a shelter as well and hanging out. We are going to try to make a sign so that other ants will know they are welcome. If this falls thru I will post another message. Unfortunately, when you buy WH Instants, you don't know where the seats are before you buy them. When you go to purchase them, you can select from what is available (reserved, lawn, best available).

I bought Instants a couple of weeks ago and know I have a reserved seat, but I don't know where yet. It seems like some people have gotten really lucky and ended up with great Instant seats.

You're right-- it was crazy 6/24 down in front. I sat in Sect. A, Row R (18th row) and the energy down there was AMAZING. I had the best time. Blossom was good- the band sounded great. I did not enjoy it nearly as much 6/24 though. I think the main reason is that I sat in the lawn at Blossom and there was so many drunk people that were not paying attention to the show. A couple next to me sat and argued for 20 minutes about a fight they had 3 years ago! :twak But all in all, it was a good, good time.

i will most likely be out on the lawn, planing on tailgating somewhere and trying to be one of the first into the venue to get a spot dead center up on the railing, if you have a bad spot on the lawn at riverbend its usually really bad, i was at 6/24 too and i was out on the lawn getting soaked but it was the most fun ive ever had at a concert

Tailgating is funny in most Ohio venues. Gates open at 5:30 show starts at 7:00 usually. At Polaris you could sit and tailgate in front of the gates before it opened but not in the lot.

Just in case anyone needs any info (directions, hotels, general info, etc) check out riverbend-music.com (also says gates open 90 min. before the show, and no tailgating-specifically alcohol and grilling, I have no idea how strict they are). Also my friend gets tix on ebay all the time. Right now there's several lawn and a couple pavillion for cincy. He worked us up to 6th row center for Blossom. (Which was just an amazing show for my second one!! Yay!)

first off i havent been to dear creak so i cant help ya there but i can compare it to polaris or any place like that. it has big towers holding up the roof to the pavilon instead of a small pilar. the lawn is elevated so if you can get a good spot close to the rail in between the towers you will be good but if you are very far back the towers will block at least some part of the stage unless you are on one of the extreme ends of the lawn (far right or left, it sorta wraps around). hopefully i will be able to offer a sweet tailgate for lots/and camping for some not that im tryin to be a dick and not offer everyone a spot i guess will wait and see how many people actually want a spot to camp. the spot is some land a freinds family own right on the river right next to the venues pariking lot, 10 min walk from the venue. they usually have a party for some of the bigger shows and have let me and some friends party there for each of the last two years dave shows. im thinking we can meet in the lot at a certain time and then just walk over to the land. ill give out a cell number later if some people actually wanna try and get together either before or after the show, it can be a pretty much all day even i hope any way i will get some more info soon if people are interested.

Hey i PMed you, not sure if you got it, I will be at the show with about 3-4 people (myself, Kfirednzer(kelsey) and a buddy of mine) we REALLY need a campsite to stay at if you could help us out I'd really really appreciate it!! I've been looking for campgrounds in cincy area and there all about 30 miles away. What your describing is ideal....especially since they say NO TAILGATING on the RB site. We dont wanna be driving from the campground to the venue. Get back to me with what i need to do in order to have this arranged..

I got my warehouse tix and im out in the 900 section. pretty far back after having inside the 15th row for last years concert. i guess i got spoiled the first year. oh well, i don't care where i sit as long as i can see the stage and hear the music. this no tailgating thing has me pissed off now b/c i am taking thursday and friday off work just so i can spend all day partyin and all night partyin. if anyone wants to "accomodate" me and a couple of my boys i guarantee an awesome party. or just tell me a close place to tailgate during the day and ill start the party! hit me up @ southpaw801

WH can't have a reserved section of the lawn. the lawn is open to everyone. i get lawn for every show and i have always weaseled my way up to the front center against the rail where i can see the stage clearly.

WH can't have a reserved section of the lawn. the lawn is open to everyone. i get lawn for every show and i have always weaseled my way up to the front center against the rail where i can see the stage clearly.

I have my lawn seats for the show and they are reserved, what they do is have an area in a prime spot on the lawn that is roped off and only those with WH preferred lawn tickets can get access,however, sometime before the show starts the ropes come down and it is a free for all, I went to both Deer Creek Shows and thats how it was there. see that's the thing.....i've already racked up a $660 credit card bill this year with the d&f and dmb tours. i have to sell my car before i can pay it off, and i can't sell my car until right before i move....thus, i can't charge any more concerts. i told you you could give me your credit card number and i could get 2 instants, but oh well....

It's a really nice/pretty park scenery wise and good sites and all that. However at night, if you're up after 1:00 do not be drinking if you're a minor and DO NOT partake in any, ahem, smoking activities. Last summer, my roomate and I weren't 21 yet, and we were just hanging out the night before the first show....literally not being loud at all (there was only 3 of us on the site) when 5 or 6 rangers came back. My roomate got an MIP and I got a paraphenalia(sp?) ticket only because we begged them not to give us a possession ticket. They threw all of our goodies into the fire, made my sister clean up all of the beer and we had to pay $450 on the spot for both tickets or else we would've gone to jail :eek: However, we didnt' let it ruin our weekend(as weird as that sounds) and proceeded to have a fantastic two shows last year!!! Can't wait for next week1 :bounce

ok, so here's the thing with me. a buddy and i plan on driving up wednesday night. our original intent was to find a place to camp, just like at deer creek. BUT is there any camping available at all, like within 5-15 mintues of walking distance??? we were just planning on bringin a little grill and cookin steaks and drinkin beer at a campground all day until dave starts, but now it seems like plans are falling apart and i don't know what's up now, i just don't feel like dishin out 70 bucks for a hotel and also driving drunk back to the hotel, not good stuff. :(

I've been to all of those shows too, and 8/8/02 was my first DMB experience too. I also don't know whether or not 6/24/03 can be topped. Seek Up followed by Last Stop followed by Dreaming Tree followed by 41. Not to mention the I'll Back You Up and Two Step encore. I hope they top it IN TWO DAYS (WOO HOO!!!!) but it'll be tough.

IMO... no setlist can beat the 6/24/03 setlist at Riverbend at all... most amazing list ever put together... the surprises just kept coming... But they usually play a great show at Cincy... I get the double dose of Nashville and Cincy... so I'm sure Ill get some goodies either night of hopefully Seek Up, 41, LIOG, Watchtower, or Captain

Has anyone ever gotten a Digital Rebel (Dslr) camera into the shows? Its not a "professional" camera..but can have big lenses on it, so I'm wondering if they'd snatch it away. What if i kept the small lense on there? I'll be in the lawn, and just want some good pics, i'd rather not use a lil disposable one, but just thought I'd see if anyones ever gotten one in at these shows.

I just booked a room at the Comfort Inn and Suites on Aicholtz rd in Cincinnati - does anyone know how close that is from the venue? I still haven't been able to get any tickets so I guess I will be scalping as well, oh well. I am driving down from Ontario with my boyfriend if anyone wants to meet up and party before the show (or after). One more sleep!

Bobby Mackey's is the best!! It's about two minutes from where I live. Believe it or not, I'm having part of my bachelor party there (which just goes to show what a hick I am). :)

True about work. Maybe I actually should do some work so the day will move faster instead of reading/posting, which is just making me think more and more about the show, and making time actually move backwards. I feel like a kid on the last day of school.

I am so excited! I just looked at last year's setlists for the two shows they played and did you know-- there were 3 debuts each night! WOW! I had a good feeling last night that we would get a debut today---I really hope I am right. Would love to hear HA--Halloween (not holding my breath on this one) but I am really hoping for Dreaming Tree!

I am going to try to get a little work done before I leave...maybe it will make the time to go quicker (haha!-- yeah right!)
