I've watched every episode and its definately one of my new favorites. Unforunately there's talk that Fox is pulling the plug on it...its critically acclaimed but doesn't have enough fans. Anyone else like it?

Did anyone else catch this? When George-Michael is walking home with his head down, crying and they are playing the sad Charlie Brown song, in the background there is a big red doghouse with a beagle laying on top of it. I rewound it on tivo, paused and laughed my ass off.

I like the new story about JD hooking up with a black girl ("The only difference between a black girl and a white girl is when a black girl asks if her ass is big, you say 'Hell Yeah!'")
My favorite part of the show is the way the characters interact with each other. I love hearing "Barbie" or "Bambi" or "Blonde Doctor" in each and every episode because by doing that, you feel right at home with the characters even you only watch it once a week.

I wouldn't go so far as to they're sucking. It's just that they aren't up to the brilliance we're used to seeing in The Simpsons.
The great thing is that when it's only a decent episode, you've got Arrested to wipe that bad taste of your mouth.

I don't get how Fox can get away with this. AD is one of the funniest shows on TV. Bateman won the Golden Globe, what more does Fox want, they won Best Comedy Series last year in the GG also. The same thing happened to "Sports Night" and it was made by the same Executive Producers: Brian Glazer and Ron Howard. I will never watch Fox again if they cancel it.

Let's certainly hope so.
Sports Nights pretty much is my favorite night, and regardless of the fact that they aren't the same style of show, the parallels are too rampant to miss, and while Sports Night was given a chance to move to HBO and didn't, I can only hope that if Arrested Development is offered such an oppurtinity, that it takes it, and might even turn a great show into something universally known.

If they cancel this show there is something seriously wrong with TV. The show is so original and hilarious, yet you know Fox will end up canceling it eventually anyway just like they did to Freaks and Geeks which I thought was another great show. I've never watched the show, but...
Lord I've really been real stressed
Down and out, losin ground
Although I am black and proud
Problems got me pessimistic
Brothers and sisters keep messin up
Why does it have to be so damn tuff?
I don't know where I can go
To let these ghosts out of my skull
My grandmas past, my brothers gone
I never at once felt so alone
I know you're supposed to be my steering wheel
Not just my spare tire (home)
But lord I ask you (home)
To be my guiding force and truth (home)
For some strange reason it had to be (home)
He guided me to Tennessee (home)
(Chorus) Take me to another place
Take me to another land
Make me forget all that hurts me
Let me understand your plan
Lord it's obvious we got a relationship
Talkin to each other every night and day
Although you're superior over me
We talk to each other in a friendship way
Then outta nowhere you tell me to break
Outta the country and into more country
Past Dyesburg into Ripley
Where the ghost of childhood haunts me
Walk the roads my forefathers walked
Climbed the trees my forefathers hung from
Ask those trees for all their wisdom
They tell me my ears are so young (home)
Go back to from whence you came (home)
My family tree my family name (home)
For some strange reason it had to be (home)
He guided me to Tennessee (home)
Chorus
Now I see the importance of history
Why people be in the mess that they be
Many journeys to freedom made in vain
By brothers on the corner playin ghetto games
I ask you lord why you enlightened me
Without the enlightment of all my folks
He said cuz I set myself on a quest for truth
And he was there to quench my thirst
But I am still thirsty...
The lord allowed me to drink some more
He said what I am searchin for are
The answers to all which are in front of me
The ultimate truth started to get blurry
For some strange reason it had to be
It was all a dream about Tennessee
Tonights episodes were great, I love how Michael never remembers who Anne is

We're a whole season behind here in Australia for this show. A friend sent me the Season 1 DVD when it came out there. It's underrated & is shown here at the ungodly hour of 11:30pm. It was never given any chance.

According to Entertainment Weekly, out of a scale of five axes, the show got two. The shows with five axes have a much better chance of being cancelled, then the ones with two or lower.
Ben Stiller is on tonight's episode.
I loved in last week's episode how when Steve learns that his Dad is Gob, they play "The Final Countdown." Little things like that make the show so great because they play that song whenever talking about Gob or when he's doing his magic tricks.

As much as I love The Simpsons, they just don't pull in audiences like they used to. The only thing is that if AD were on after AI, smart TV viewers would be torn between AI and Scrubs. They're the two funniest shows on TV and don't get nearly enough viewers. Why are people so dumb?

As much as I love The Simpsons, they just don't pull in audiences like they used to. The only thing is that if AD were on after AI, smart TV viewers would be torn between AI and Scrubs. They're the two funniest shows on TV and don't get nearly enough viewers. Why are people so dumb?
:thumbsup Scrubs and Arrested Development are two shows that I never miss along with 24.

It really is the best comedy on television. I was so happy when Dan showed up but was slighty sad when Zach Braff wasn't on it because he was supposed to be.
One of my favorite parts was when they were talking about cutting down from 22 to 18...nice little shot at FOX, etc.

Just thought I'd share, I met GOB (Will Arnett) this weekend in Chicago. He was in town with David Koechner (Champ Kind in Anchorman) performing in a special guest appearance at Improv Olympic. I was fortunate enough to share a beer with Will after the show and wasted no time getting into a convo about AD. GOB was an extremely nice guy, and is very passionate about the show. We talked about the future of the Bluths and he had a lot to share. As of right now, FOX has not renewed the show for Season 3. Critics love the show, and people that have turned in also love it, but FOX has not gained the consistent viewship that it expected with this sitcom. Right now its kinda up in the air on whter or not we'll see AD on FOX ever again. We also talked about Ron Howard a bit, and he added that Howard has all of his creativity invested in to the show, and is stopping at nothign at trying to promote it. The big problme lays with having to compete with Desperate Housewives, FOX cut AD down to 18 minutes this year and down to 18 episodes this year, compared to 22 minutes the first year, 24 episodes. They get up 55 page scripts for each episode, easily enough to make each show an hour long. He is also aware about the on0line petition to FOX, if you havent seen it.. check it out and sign it www.saveourbluths.com We ended our convo talking about what he's up to next, actually he was in Chicago not only to accompany Koechner at the Improv, but they are filming a new movie together in Joliet, IL.

Very cool. I met Will once, but that was pre-AD. Cool guy.
If AD was on cable, there'd be no question as to its future. Cable lives on smaller, cult followings (Family Guy on Adult Swim), while broadcast networks only care about viewers. If Fox does get rid of it, I hope they at least sell it to a cable network to keep it alive for its hardcore fans.

def agree, the show would fit perfect on HBO right before Curb. Its a shame, tv sitcoms have become so cookie cutter, that its impossible for 1/2 of america's tv audience to actually comprehend the brillance that goes into AD's writing and acting. I have no doubts that if Fox dropped the ball, someone else would steal it immediately and jump right back on.

This isn't incredibly substantive, but I just discovered this thread exists and so wanted to share. I was orgasmic hearing AD was brought back for not just the 1 but 2 full season orders. I was a proud part of the "Save Our Show!" Poll. This is simply the best goddamn show on TV, though I'm sorry to see it leave Sundays, it was a nice companion to The Simpsons. I haven't literally full-on guffawed out loud at a show like this since The Simpsons. One episode, I don't remember what the scene was, but I was laughing so hard (and into coughing) I actually came an inch away from vomiting. Now that's good comedy :cool

Have you guys seen the TV spot for the season premiere with Jason Bateman and Carmen Electra? PRICELESS :cool
They're both just standing there, in front of a blank/white backdrop, commenting on how Electra's never won an Emmy ("never even been nominated!" they say :p) and yet AD has 5 to their credit even though, as Bateman remarks deadpan "nobody's ever actually watched our show". So the deal Mr. Michael Bluth proposes is that he'll give miss Carmen Electra 1 of AD's Emmys if 15 million viewers tune in to the season 3 premiere. "We're not kidding."

The parts where Michael, GOB, and George Michael were waiting to go to the cabin were hilarious. With the Grizzly Adams sleeping bag and the fishing pole. And George Michael and Maebe trying to avoid each other. That was a really good episode and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season

I thought the funniest part was when Portia, I'm drawing a total blank on her name on the show right now, was making copies of her vagina and wanting to buy a Volvo. "It's kind of boxy", was the best line of the night in my opinion.

"I feel like that kid over there with the severed hand, anything for his father's approval...." Gob is priceless.

i am kinda pissed that they moved the show to monday nights. it was having a hard enough time getting ratings for some reason ( i don't know how a show gets 5 emmys and is still hurting for viewers). Point being, they put some stupid ass new show on Sunday's at 7:30 in it's spot. i watched an episode. it's terrible, for lack a of a better word than terrible. i guarantee the show doesn't make it a full season.
so to get ratings, arrested development got carmen electra to do some commercials, boasting that if they got 15 million viewers last night, they would give one of their emmys to carmen. well, with two monday night games on last night, i highly doubt they got their 15 million viewers.
only the diehards tuned in. and from what i have read, we loved it.

Yea they had only 3 Million viewers last night...MNF killed them. Next week should be a little more evened out.

I went to that last night after the episode aired. It was great. Good to see so many good comments about the show. I thought the episode last night was hilarious. I taped it and watched it again last night and I was able to pick up things I had missed the first time through. That's one of the many reasons I love this show.

One of my favorite lines from last night...
Michael: I almost had Pop pop in Reno.
George Michael: Me too.
And also..
Tobias: I'm going to smell to high heaven like a tuna melt!
That was some hilarious sexual innuendo

That's exactly what I do. The show is so layered with subtle jokes that its nearly impossible to catch them all after one viewing.

I would rather have Henry on the show. He was hilarious, and Charlene doesn't seem like she'll be all that funny. Granted, she does have the hotness thing working for her, but we'll see how it pans out
