is there a certain way to string a guitar in raised b tuning? i've got two guitars now, and i'd like to leave one in standard and used the other for raised b.
if anyone has got any input, please share

you need to get different strings for it. you can't use the normal strings.
I don't mean to contradict you, Jason, but why can't you use normal strings? I threw some extra-lights on a cheapee guitar (in the weird order, of course) and it worked just fine...

hmmm. i thought someone had said that you needed to use different strings(ie, only 1 in actuality, the others just switch position) because the tension is too high and will break the strings.
I just used extra-lights. You move each string "down" a slot, losing your low-E, and use another B at the top. You do tune them up a step, but I haven't had any problems. It beats the hell out of the guitar, and cheap guitars won't "recover" from it, but it should work.

When you say beats the hell out of the guitar, how do you mean, I have my yamaha fg150 in raised b , and granted its a big time beater, but i still treasure the guitar, as its older than me and has a pretty decent mahogany sound?

It puts much extra tension on the neck for as long as it's tuned up.
