Hey all,

This has been on my mind for awhile, and I haven't been able to figure it out. How does one go about burning a VCD? There isn't a VCD option on my burning software, can it be done another way? Any info is greatly appreciated.

i use recordnow which is the basic program that comes with windows. try going to the part of your program that burns data disks and just tell it to make an exact copy as a data disk

Thanks guys, I was able to burn a few so that worked out nicely. My next question is how do I keep the audio and video synched up? The two that I burned started out ok, but about halfway through, the video jumps about one half to one second ahead of the audio? Is there anything to be done about this? Thanks is advance!!

Tis a problem i've struggled with as well. Compression, unfortunatly, is not an exact science yet, thus our problem.

you wouldnt, by any chance, be trying to burn 'back to alexandra', would you?

you can get a program called TMPGenc and you can offset the audio/video with varying degrees [depending on if the audio is ahead, or the video is ahead, and by how much]. this saves you the trouble from seperating the audio and video- then chopping 1/4 second off 1, and remerging.

Or, it could be like VH1 storytellers part 2, where the guy encoded it wrong, and it's in sync at the beginning- and out at the end. then you have to seperate the two, and stretch the audio, then put it back. yeah, i did that, wow it was a bitch. (but it came out well :) ants marching is right on)

That was one of the ones I was burning, but I was aware of the sync problems before I even tried to burn it. I will try to figure out what you said, see if I can get that to work.:)

what speed are you burning at?

try burning at 4x and see if that helps.

if the mpeg itself is off when you view it in WMP, strip the audio out and resynch it. www.vcdhelp.com will tell you how to do it.

I will give that a shot, I was burning at a much faster speed. Slowing it down may correct the problem?

yea.......unless you have a hyperthreading processor, which i am still not sold on......dont burn at above 4x....i generally burn videos at 2x

adjust accordingly to hardware specs
