robdean218
04-20-2004, 07:27 PM
the first person who buys instants for a given show will get the best seats the warehouse has at the time...that could mean front row center or it could mean upper pavilion, just depends, but i'd say if you get them right when they go up you have a solid chance of getting good seats, as for when you will actually find out where they are, either after they sell all the instant tickets for that show or if they never do then they take em down a few days before they are supposed to ship and you find out then...don't wait a long time and then get em cuz you'll end up like me last year and get 2nd to last row in the corner of the pavilion

Two things are helping out the demand for the Chicago show. It's on a Friday night and the shows at Alpine are 6 weeks after Chicago.
I'm guessing that many fans who would typically only go to Alpine decided that they can't wait for August and they're going to try out Tweeter Chicago for the first time.

I've always been hesitant about the Instant Tickets... I mean sure if you hit the request shortly after they are offered you have a decent shot... but we're about 12-14 hours out now and I figure most decent pavillion seats are GONE by now....
I'd like to hit it just right (when/if they ever put up the Meadows or N1 in Mass)... but who knows.

Yea they will offer more cities...I e-mailed the warehouse and asked. This is just the first series right now of instant ticketing. They said that they may or may not send out another e-mail reminding people that tickets are up for more cities. So your best bet is to continue to check often for when those other cities come up.

Where do the Instant Tickets and WH upgrades come from? Are they all tickets recovered from scalpers, or what?
Upgrade tickets they usually have reserved for upgrades (as far as first and second rows go anyway). They will hold back a couple first and second row seats to use as upgrades. The upgraded peoples old tickets then would get tossed into the instant ticket pool. Its better that they do upgrades by phone now as it means more tickets are available. When upgrades are done on site there is no way to then resell the empty seats left by those who were upgraded. At least this way the empy seat gets filled.
Intant tickets come about from a number of sources (empty seats as a result of upgrades) and ....
- WH reserves X amount of seats for a show, if there are less requests in the main lottery for tickets than the total amount of tickets available than the extras will appear as instant tickets right away. That is why the shows that the WH "sold out" of there arent instant tickets available (ie Gorge). These instant tickets are usually the first round made avialable.
- Second is extra tickets the WH is able to secrure (buy back) from Ticketmaster as the event draws near.
-Lastly instant tickets will pop up and down for certain shows multiple times. The WH said in the short WH chat session last year that all tickets confiscated from ebay and otehr scalpers are put up and made available through instant tickets. Thats why there are no instants up for the Gorge today, but in two months the WH might post instants for the Gorge (might only last a few minutes) and then a couple months latter the post some more..... then they are gone.... then a month later they post some more. because the WH is catching scalpers on an ongoing basis, so as the tickets become available to them, they turn around and make them available to members. After they sell out they may bust someone else and then start the sale process all over again. Its these confiscated/canceled scalpers tickets that are the most prized of all instant tickets. This is how someone scores 3rd row seats through instants. Most WH Scalpers have good seniority so they get good seats, it doesnt make sense for a new scalper/broker to buy a membership today as the only tickets available to them will be pretty crappy (generally).
The first round of instant tickets however is mostly leftover tickets. I would put money on it that MOST of the shows that instants are available are shows that nobody got denied to. I say MOST because some of those shows the WH would have probably already busted scalpers.
Anyway thats the sotry behind instants. No I dont work for the WH so it cant be 100% confirmed, but its not like the tickets magically appeared in the bottom of a box of lucky charms or anything.
Just one thing about instants though.... I've told this story before and it still makes me question the WH instnat ticket seat assignment policy. Its been stated and much accepted that instants are SOLD ona first come first serve basis. And its believed that the seat assignments are then done on a random basis. Some people have said that the WH told them that seat assignments are made for instants when tickets are printed, and that they are done randomly. Some people however believe that not only are they first come first served, but that the first served gets the best seats. Either way we dont know for sure how its done, BUT I ask you to read on.....
Vancouver 2002 I bought Instant tickets about 2 weeks after they were first made available, when the WH sent the e-mail saying instants are available for Vancouver I didnt have the credit to put in an order right away). I got great lower bowl seats, and sitting to my right were two lovely ladies from California. After chatting with these ladies we learn that they too got their seats through instant tickets, however they bought theirs the same day they were made available. Yay, not so shocking that the WH had 4 instant tickets in a row.
Vancouver 2003 I bought LOTTERY tickets and was confirmed, I got sweet floor seats thanks to seniroty seating. While at the show I find myself sitting next to these two lovely ladies from California, they were sitting to my right. After chatting with these ladies we learn that they too got their seats through the lottery and that they joined the same month and year that I did.......... can you guess where this is going???? Yes the exact same ladies, sitting again TO MY RIGHT, as the year before. So really what are the odds that my seniority tickets one year landed next to the EXACT SAME people (on my right!) as my instant tickets the year before, those instants being....what we assumed.... to be assinged randomly hmmmmmm.............. Its possible, but the odds are pretty low.

The WH has confirmed this multiple times that it's first come, first serve...it's not a lottery. Unlike the actual WH ordering period, there is no reason to make Instants random. Plus there are many "I ordered instants right away and got front row seats" stories.

I am going to try to conclude this instant tickets problem. I have been a member since october 2002 and I ordered my instant tickets 1 minute after they went up. They are for the Chula Vista show in California. It is now the 10th of August and they told me they ship them the 13th. So far I have no idea of where I sit. So when I know, I will let everyone know!!!! I have tried to get shows this year and have been denied 2 out of 2 times, and I had the credit for them and it was the same credit card for both of the shows!!!!!! Now lets say I did get confirmed for the regular ticket series, my seats wouldn't be that great. So, if I get good seats, then it is first come first serve basis?!! So give it a few days and everyone will know for the future!!

It was 2 days before the regular warehouse ticket ship date. So for example, Tampa's ship date of tickets was July 16, so I found out on July 14 what row and section i was sitting in as it was posted on my instant ticket status on the instant ticket section.
