*Pittsburgh/Burgettstown 2012*

Anyone hear of any possible dates for the summer yet... I heard they have contacted First Niagra Pavillion (Starlake) so hopefully we don't have to deal with PNC again. That was hell. :BANG

Re: *Pittsburgh/Burgettstown 2012*

I was down in the outfield so PNC wasn't that bad for me. I had friends in the stands, and they weren't feelin' it. The crowd had a lot more to do with the show than the venue, but then again, maybe they aren't mutually exclusive.

My first DMB shows were at the pavilion, and I really hope they go back.

I too heard they were in contact with the pavilion, but maybe it's the same unconfirmed rumor.

This is why shows at starlake have been bad the past few years.

Never been to Star Lake and probably never will, but I was in Pittsburgh last summer and couldn't believe how far away from the city this venue actually is! I can eventually see most bands playing the brand new sports arena in Pittsburgh and this place eventually closing down.

Can't wait to be back at star lake. Two year break has been too long.

I don't know why I just thought of this, but N2 in 09, there were a group of kids in their early teens sitting in the row in front of me. One girl was breaking up with her boyfriend over text messages. One of the other guys (boys) started to catch on and creep on this girl. He wanted nothing more than to dance with this girl during slow songs. He was pretty much ignored so he told her that during the texting she missed crash (which was played N1). She was pissed about missing her favorite song.

So maybe you're on to something.

Its the location of my first Dave shows so thats why i want to go back this summer.

It's okay, but it's not in the top tier at all.

I really hope that they play here more in the middle of the tour, I would love to have my 100th show here.

Blossom is meh. I personally like star lake. Tailgates are good, I've never had any problems getting out. Even up on the top of the hill, you get a pretty good view of the stage and can see what's going on.

I went to scranton in '09 too, and was one of the first cars in (and last cars out). The pavilion itself was pretty cool. Atmosphere and crowd interest was pretty high, too. I wouldn't have cared for lawn seats at that place for any show.

I got to see the DMB bus roll through the parking lot with Carter waving out the front window.

It's a bitch to get out of though. It took nearly 2 hours to get out of the parking lot. Spent 45 minutes without even moving.

Star lake at a mid-tour break like it was in 09 before their Europe leg would be awesome again.

I have it on very good authority that it's confirmed that DMB reserved 2 nights at First Niagara. I don't know if they'll play 2 nights, but 2 days are blocked off.

I really hope it's two nights here. And whoever said Starlake sucks is an idiot. Starlake is very nice in my opinion

Gotta be back at starlake this summer...PNC just isn't the same and I missed 09 because of a stupid vacation that had already been planned...two nights at starlake is like therapy for me...go camping and just chill out for a long weekend

:rolleyes This is why camp chairs, post-show tailgate grilling, and beer were invented.

Hello! Agreed. It has been way, way too long! :hug

All I want this tour season is a DMB for two nights at Starlake, and camping with friends at Raccoon Creek.

I can take or leave anything else this year.

Phooey on all the Starlake naysayers. It is IMO a fabulous venue, with terrific sound quality. DMB has put on some A-mazing concerts there over the past years (see 6-20-09 http://antsmarching.org/tour/ViewShow.php?ShowID=4037 if you doubt)

Re: *Pittsburgh/Burgettstown 2012*

I guess I'm one of the few that prefer PNC over Starlake. Not big on camping and it's nice to be able to leave the show and just walk to the bars or back to the hotel. Just a lot more convenient, imo.

:thumbsup:thumbsup if you are not really quck getting out of the show, you might as well set the tailgate back up and finish all the food and drink instead of sitting in a dead stop

Depending on our post-Post Gazette ( or Post Star First Gazette Lake Niagara Pavillion) show plans, if we need to head towards 376, we almost always tailgate again. If we head the opposite direction, its usually pretty quick getting out of there.

Though in our dead-stop situation, we were in unfamiliar territory (Scranton). It was our first destination show, so we were a bit under-prepared.

I just figured out that Post-Gazette Pavilion is now First Niagara Pavilion. :BANG

Similar name change in Buffalo.

HSBC Arena -> First Niagara Center

Anyways, I love the venue and nearby camping. I hope they go back there.

You just need to know where to park.

Yeah. Ask any Pittsburgher and we still call it Starlake even though it hasn't been called that for, what, 15 years or something. Geesh. I just made myself feel old :shrug

A friend gave me some info that starlake and dmb mgmts are working on a friday/saturday 2 night weekend for early or mid july. Its not set, but those were the 'working' dates both parties were aiming for.

Also included that dmb mgmt was trying to release tour dates late feb, with tickets on sale mid/late march. Not earth shattering, but nice to know.

The crowd may be hit or miss sometimes but you can't discount some solid sets over the years.
