Mother of Africa
For those that haven't heard it yet, here is a youtube link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03CKUT8Y2as And I did some digging. As we all know by now it's from the documentary in 2016 about elephants in Africa. More specifically this documentary: https://vimeo.com/168811238 At the beginning of the video is a short clip of a studio cut. :thumbsup |
Re: Mother of Africa
Sounds like a whiny mess to me.

Re: Mother of Africa
I really like it a lot, reminds me of the old stuff like Light Lift Me Up or #36 where it's the same little guitar part repeated. It has an open and cultural feel with Vusi obviously, might be boring without him there but as is it is nice.

The song screams Africa, not just because they keep saying it, the rhythm and what Vusi is singing make it sound very different than an American song. You can listen to certain songs that make you think of Italy, Ireland, Norway, etc. and can hear how they are influenced by drastically different cultures. Gaelic music sounds nothing like Brazilian music even if there are no vocals. This song in my opinion falls into that category. |
