Live Trax Volume 23 is the first Dave and Tim show to be released in the series. For the special Dave and Tim debut, we have selected an exceptional 1996 show from the University of New Hampshire in Durham. This last show of the Dave & Tim tour that year includes Dave’s solo performance of never-before-played Hold Me Down. Tim broke a string and while replacing, Dave played the solo song asking the audience to name it. The jam from What Would You Say into Minarets is a definite highlight along with Leave Me Praying which is one of the coolest versions of the song we’ve heard. Other noteworthy parts of the show include What Will Become of Me at the end of Jimi Thing, the cover of Led Zeppelin’s Tangerine and the Cry Freedom closer."

When selecting Live Trax 23, we realized that we had two Dave and Tim shows from the early days that were both so good they had to be released together. Live Trax 24 is a show from Spartanburg, SC in early 1997. During the show, Dave refers to a billboard displaying a message “Jesus is coming to a soul near you” in several songs: Two Step, never-before-played Dreamed I Killed God and What Will Become of Me. Highlights of the show include a rare Let You Down and Captain with some alternate lyrics. Little Thing and I’ll Back You Up are both rare treats in this setting. One of our favorite stretches of the show is Minarets>Dreamed I Killed God>Typical Situation. "

Already pre-ordered.. I agree they could have just released these as DMBLives, but still these look like good shows.. And I like the idea of getting more D+T as hard copies vs the usual mp3 downloads.

I could be wrong, but I believe it's something like this:

- Live Trax is for shows of which they have access to a full multitrack recording and can mix it for that release.

- DMBLive is for shows where the only recording is already mixed.

- Stand-alone releases are almost always sold in stores.

For me, this will depend on the mix. Radio City's was horrible. Las Vegas' was better, but nothing has come close to Live at Luther. They really nailed that mix.

yeah, the LT series is much better sound quality than DMBLive.

This is like getting another Live at Luther College x2. I'm shocked people are complaining, but I guess that's how it always is.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it. If this isn't catering to the hardcore fans I don't know what is.

These are both excellent shows - just missed my personal favorite D&T show (02-06-97), but the whole tour was full of awesome. Very excited for these even though I've heard them many times.

I agree whole heartedly. I couldn't figure out how that Radio City mix made it to release. Vegas did sound great, but still (as you said) nothing like L@LC.

No Butch shows? Is this a discussion I'm coming into late, because quite a few LT releases have Butch on them?

I personally am STOKED for these shows to be released.

I highly doubt they'd have to have Butch's consent. No doubt they had him sign something saying all the material he played on belongs to the band (or the band's management anyway). Don't think they'd ever paint themselves into a corner like that.

I was expecting and hoping for a DMB Show. These are great shows but when you are hoping for something and get a different thing sometimes you will not be fully pleased. I'm not sure how many times this needs to be explained.

I don't think it does. I never said it did. Some people may have just been expecting a full band release. Hence their displeasure. These are awesome shows no doubt about that. Can't wait to explain this again in 2 or 3 posts since everyone seems to be ignoring earlier responses.

Since Butch left the band, there hasn't been a single release that has him on it, except for Warehouse bonus discs. Most people do not believe this is coincidence.

I don't give a shit what Live Trax is called. I have just grown to expect DMB shows coming out of it. The name matters 0 percent. It could literally be called anything but when they release 20 something straight full band shows under the name that is what some people are going to expect. To sit here baffled because some people expect full band shows is sort of silly.

Good new for everybody! The price of shipping both is $6.44 total, standard shipping. I think that's even cheaper than the cost for just one live trax. So we get two awesome shows and MusicToday doesn't get two charge us shipping on both of them! Even the haters should smile for that! :D

idc that it's Dave and Tim as a Live Trax...I see where people are coming from by saying they should be a DMBLive b/c those have been DMB, D&T, and Dave solo and Live Trax have only been DMB, but I don't have a problem with it...these shows look to be spectacular and are from the D&T prime era

2-11-96 is the best D+T show ever. I know cuz I was there, HA! Other than that show.....these two are pretty amazing. Had a couple of friends at Spartenburg, so they will be extra loving this news.
