Oh, wait.... :BANG

Hopefully they will follow their M.O. of not recording songs they debut on the road when it comes to this song.

I hope this is true. I get just as if not more excited for studio news than for tourdates. I'm curious as to what, if any, creative impact Jeff Coffin will have. Here's to hoping they keep producing solid new music (not Blackjack), Dave remembers how to write lyrics again and they actually allow Boyd to participate this time.

You're always throwing out vague hints and 99% of them never come true. If you toss out enough shit eventually you'll get lucky and something will stick. Anyone with half a brain could have inferred that there was a good chance the band would log some studio time this year. You're a fucking douche who constantly claims to have inside info that you don't. What happened to those Vegas shows you guaranteed dumbass?

as much faith as I've lost in Dave's writing abilities, I am pretty excited to see what this new lineup can do together in the studio. could be special

Yeah songs like Sweet, Lying in the Hands of God, Baby Blue and Squirm are really poorly written. :rolleyes

Hopefully they will include Boyd a little more in the process. Little less Timmy and a little more Boyd would be ideal.

Wait, did the lyrics change or something? You're saying Sweet is well-written? :freak

They better add more Boyd.

No one restricted Boyd more than himself. The way I see their recording process, it seems like anyone can inject their ideas at any time. It just comes down to doing it. Tim's input has nothing to do with Boyd.

It is. But it isn't wasting much time, which is what the post said that you quoted. I think you need a new schtick. You come across as more of a jerk than Charlie Sheen does.

$10 says its recorded in the studio, still without set lyrics, and released as part of the bonus disk, a la cornbread on BW.

Re: DMB - January 2012 Studio Sessions

I'll believe it when I see an official announcement about it. I believe 100% that they'll hit the studio this year. Most professional musicians spend a little time in the studio every year.... And if they take a year off like most of the guys in DMB did, of course they'll go back to the studio the next year. I'm skeptical about another album until I hear an official announcement.

Two things I'm hoping for:
1) They let Boyd out of time-out so he can play this time around
2) Tim tones it down/uses the acoustic more.

[0) Steve Lillywhite as the only producer] - the most important

Let Boyd play more. :lol Y'all act like they told him not to play. That's not how it works.

Boyd had little to do with what made the Big 3/tLWS so special, I don't get why people are clamoring for more of him this time around.

I strongly, but respectfully, disagree. He was not the most important element by any means, but still critical to what made those albums sound so great. His interplay with Roi on songs like Rhyme & Reason, #41, DIDO, Bartender is one of the things that hooked me on this band. He has some really nice moments, such as the middle of Typical Situation and the one chorus of Rapunzel. Off the top of my head he's also great and noticeable on JTR and Last Stop. On SU and even BW, he was more window dressing than anything else, popping up for small moments here and there. I want more of that interplay between violin and sax than just Boyd sticking his head up for a short solo on a couple of songs.

Re: DMB - January 2012 Studio Sessions

My expectations are an album between BW and Everyday in terms of quality.

The Bad:
1.) No Roi, who not only played a big role on the sax, but pushed everyone else to really try
2.) No Lillywhite, who without, I doubt the band can make a Big 3 quality album

The Good:
1.) The band's coming off their best album they made in years
2.) Cavallo is probably producing, who's a lot better than Batson or Ballard
3.) The band is generally playing much better than in 2006-07

Until I'm proven wrong, I seriously think all that is a function of Lillywhite/Dave's sonwriting/LeRoi creating a collage out of everyone's contributions more than Boyd's creative spark. I mean, the guy is limited in a live setting, I don't see how that changes in the studio.
