Alpine Valley is Heaven on Earth. You will enjoy every second of it.

Re: *^*^* Alpine 2012 *^*^*

Link in my signature should still work and have pertinent information for you.

Camping can be done at several locations including:

Bong State Recreation Area and Kettle Moraine State Park. There are other various small campgroups that spot the landscape between these locations.

The closest town is Elkhorn, East Troy, and Burlington all of these towns have a hotel or motel to stay at and you can also choose to stay at a hotel in a bigger town that is farther away.

The lawn is actually not a bad experience and I recommend it to anyone for a fun night, pavilion does have its perks and is a must for myself as I get pickier.

Re: *^*^* Alpine 2012 *^*^*

That link in my sig doesnt really work that well anymore. Here is the jist of what was on that website. I already gave you the towns and camping you can search for things with those parameters in place.

Here are some things to remember for Alpine Valley Camping and Tailgating ...

Directions

Lake Geneva --- Take RT 120 North until you hit Rt 11 (it will be labled), turn west onto Rt 11 to Bowers Road. Turn north on Bowers road and pull off to the side, that is the meeting point. If you hit County Line D you have gone too far and should turn west on County Line D because that is the line to get into Alpine.
(Map Included below)

Elkhorn --- Take RT 11 to Bowers Road and turn North on Bowers Road and pull off to the side, that is the meeting point. You can also call me and just drive there together. You can also take 43N to exit 29 and follow that to the intersection of Bowers Rd and Rt. 11

East Troy --- Take Interstate 43 SOUTH to Exit 29 (RT 11). Turn East onto Rt 11 and take RT 11 to Bowers Road and turn North on Bowers Road and pull off to the side, that is the meeting point.

Chicago --- Take Interstate 43 NORTH to EXIT 29 (RT 11). Turn East onto Rt 11 and take RT 11 to Bowers Road and turn North on Bowers Road and pull off to the side, that is the meeting point.

Milwaukee --- Take Interstate 43 SOUTH to Exit 29 (RT 11). Turn East onto Rt 11 and take RT 11 to Bowers Road and turn North on Bowers Road and pull off to the side, that is the meeting point.

Random Campgrounds surrounding the area --- Find Route 11 or 120 and trace a route to BOWERS RD and RT 11 (very close to interstate 43).

This is by no means the only things you should have.
Just a list to jog your memory. Remember, too much prevents trouble.

Your car is your safe zone for everything, NEVER leave it unattended. Keep the car locked unless you are sitting in it somehow, people have things stolen sitting right next to their car. Put EVERYTHING back into the car before you head into the venue, if you have a car at your campsite put everything except the tents into that including suitcases / extra coolers / lawn chairs / games. Dont trust anyone and your stuff will be there when you get back. HAVE A D.D., its dangerous enough getting out, this is for your safety and ours. Don't be a dumbass and Drive while Drunk.

Tickets, my suggestion is to put them in the wallet the day you leave and don't take them out. Bringing a money clip is great, it goes in the front pocket and prevents pickpocketing. If your going to upgrade your tickets at the venue pay very close attention to them and compare them with the ticket you have / a friends, if they don't match up, don't take them, and be careful to pay attention to seat numbers so you don't over pay for last row seats. Don't ever trade for ticket fast tickets, its easy to copy them and have the seller get into the venue before you and have yourself stuck outside.

Camping Basic Needs List.

1. TICKETS. You don't want to scalp for lawn seats do you.
2. Tent
3. Water (Lots of it, you don't want to be dehydrated)
4. Flashlight or Headlamp / Lantern, it gets dark at night people.
5. Sleeping bag/blanket and pillow
6. Towels. For the pool, showers, just to clean up with.
8. Essential toiletries - soap, shampoo, deodorant (esp. if you're sharing a tent), toothbrush, toothpaste.
9. Hand Sanitizer. TONS of it, buy two of those big ass bottles, there is no place to wash your hands and this keeps the germs away.
10. CHAPSTICK / SUNSCREEN. You do not want to be roasted by the end of the weekend,
11. Clothes. Your discretion, But the rule of thumb, pack an extra days worth of clothes and two extra days worth of socks.
12. Liquor and Food, they are expensive around the venue / hard to get to.
13. Things to cook with. Charcoal and wood is enough for some, the Grill is necessary for others. Its up to you.
14. Cooler and Ice. Warm food and water is BAD.
15. Paper plates and utensils.
16. Toilet paper (not necessary if you poop at the venue)
17. TRASH BAGS, put your dirty shit in something, no littering.
18. DUCT TAPE / WD-40, this is a must, it fixes everything.
19. First Aid: Band Aids, neosporin, advil.
20. Matches/Lighter
21. Rain gear (just in case)
22. Lawn Chairs
23. Newspapers (Kindling)
24. Scissors
25. Hammer
26. Knife

Tailgating Basic Needs List.

1. A tarp / sun shade / ANYTHING to cover your head. Its hot, damn hot, and there are no trees, you will be very happy to have this.
2 Coolers. w/ food / beer IN THEM. Don't forget them at the site.
3. Duct Tape / WD-40. Remember, anything.
4. Lawn Chairs
5. Tables to put things on.
6. Rope to tie things to cars / down if it gets windy (and it will storm at least one day).
7. Sunscreen, did i mention its hot?
8. The grill if you have food that needs it. Otherwise you can barter for food with beer, or use a friends grill.
9. Utensils / plates.
10. Games, drinking and stories only last for so long.
11. That extra pair of clothes, if it rains you'll be dry in the venue.
12. THE TICKETS, don't forget them. EVER.

Re: *^*^* Alpine 2012 *^*^*

Ive done the lawn every year at alpine and I always have a great time. Occasionally you need to move out of the way of the pissing drunk standing behind you, but other than that its a hella great time.

My piece of advice would be DO NOT plan to leave the lots in the immediate hours after the show. Last few years I have been in the yellow lots and I usually spend 2-3 hours waiting in traffic. My advice would be to just parkt he car, shut it off, and go mingle. When you do get ready to leave, perhaps lock the doors. As my brother and I were leaving a drunk opened the rear door of my car and just hopped in, then asked if we could take him to chicago. I politely told him to get the fuck out.

I usually stay in Janesville (like 30 something minutes drive). You can almost always find a motel there. I dont drink at the shows so the drive is no big deal to me anyways.

I get out of the lots in 15 minutes every night. Gotta find the quick exit.

Ohhhh man it's time to start talking Alpine already!

Can't wait for the summer. Been to every show at Alpine since 2000 and don't plan to break the streak this year. Always my favorite weekend of the summer.

After a little hiatus from Bark River looks like I might have to make a return.

Mingling with 40,000 friends stuck in traffic is part of the fun

Just got excited thinking about staying at Bark River for the weekend. So much fun.

If I remember right it was $15 a night per person?

Never been to Alpine- I need a Sherpa to guide me and guide me right. I may do this solo. No DMB buddies I know and am comfortable with.

Helpers will be compensated-

here's what I need:

1. Place to stay
2. Ride from airport
3. 1 decent ticket

Alpine is my home venue and it's amazing! As stated before though, do not do lawn- the Alpine lawn is atrocious.

im guessing with that price it sells out about 30 seconds after the tour dates are announced?

Re: *^*^* Alpine 2012 *^*^*

Went to Alpine for the first time in 2010. Managed to get decent pavillion seats for N1 and a front-and-center spot for N2 in the pit. All I can say is... it was one of the best weekends of my life. Just the whole atmosphere from arriving at 2pm to party till the show started. It was just so much fun. I went with my parents but it looks like this time I may be taking a group of friends. Being that none of my friends have seen DMB yet, I'm not sure if they'd be willing to shell out 80 bucks for a pavilion seat so it looks like we may be doing the lawn... maybe the pit if they do indeed continue doing that... which I don't see why they wouldn't.

Either way, it'll be a great weekend of great music with great friends :multi

Nope. It's a non reservation place so you just show up. And I've never heard of them running out of room.

Warning: If your looking for top amenities this is not the place. If you're looking to have one of the funnest times of your life this is the place. I took my shower in a swimming pond they built if that gives you an idea of the amenities.
