Has the single been announced?

Out of what has been released, I have to think that its going to be If Only. Plus its been confirmed that its not going to be the other three. I def think its radio friendly.

I hope it's Gaucho. If Only is a snooze fest. Gaucho has been played on the radio and xm, so I think it has the best chance so far.

musically, its fine, but its got some awful lyrics. i can really see if only becoming the next spaceman. everyone loves it while its new and once that wears off, people will not want to hear it anymore.

Completely wrong. If Only is fantastic, musically, lyrically, its a gem.

Gaucho would be a horrible single. Its a great song idea that turned out terrible. "Ya gotta do much more than ba-LEEVE, if ya really wanna change thingz" Good grief.

it was confirmed by stefan or lillywhite that we have not heard the first single yet.


EDIT - before hearing that, i would have said Mercy because it was the only one played at every venue. they wouldn't let the single sit around and skip shows if they were already playing it. as for gaucho, the only reason why radio stations are playing that is because its the only new song that the studio version was released for. they don't have anything else to play other than that.

i was just thinking, when they mentioned the single, it was said that we haven't heard the first single yet, but albums usually have 3-4 singles. in 09 when they played 3 BW songs in the spring, 2 of those 3 were singles. so maybe we haven't heard the FIRST single, but i dont see how we haven't heard ANY singles yet. and if there are 3 singles and we haven't heard any of them yet, i'm not expecting the album to be that great. i'm not wild about most of the new songs so far, and singles tend to not be that strong anymore. so that could be more than half an album of ehh.

i know they were talking about the lead single saying that we havent heard it yet, but no one said if we heard the 2nd or 3rd single or not. i can see Mercy and Gaucho being 2 and 3. Mercy is the most played song of the tour, being played at every stop, as far as i know, and was played on fallon. they want that song to be known. and gaucho, tied for 2nd most plays, and the studio version was released, allowing it to be played on radio stations already. sweet and if only dont even have half the plays that mercy has.

It was the first one Fonz played for me and he said that, if he's correct, it's the 1st single. I wish I could hear it again because the excitement of being surprised by Stefan playing the album was still pretty fresh. I know that I've said this about the album but the song sounded classic DMB/Lillywhite. We talked about how great it would sound live, very upbeat...if memory serves me, very Billies like. I have the title written down in the office, I'll see if I can find it.
