It broke earlier that some of Ahmadinejad's staff had been arrested for using witchcraft (or some derivation thereupon), but I didn't think it'd escalate this quickly.

Wait, so...would Israel be technically in favor of Ahmadinijad in this situation? Will we see Netanyahu campaigning for Ahmadinijad soon???

In the immediate situation, I think the storyline won't be much of picking sides between the two. There's going to be a momentary power vacuum, and the story will be driven by what the people do. If the Ayatollah attempts to go hardline, I can see Libya being back-page news by next Saturday.

Would be interesting...It has been reported the last couple of days on Iranian TV that Israel has been amassing ships and jets in possible strike on Irans facilities...though Israel denies it...wonder whats up

Not especially surprising, by virtue of the way the Islamic Republic is set up there will always exist various competing power structures. There have even been rumours for a while that the Rev. Guard may be breaking off from Khamenei. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
