Can't wait to hear Mercy with backup vocals mixed in studio. Captain Kirk gave a good little taste of that!

    1. Listen to #40 from Yoshi's performance
    2. Record this version

    4. Profit

The Yoshi's performance of #40 clocked in at 4:31 seconds and it still has plenty of wiggle room for additional instrumental/jamming. I stand by saying #40 is NOT a 2 minute song.

Dave said in the past, he couldn't remember the lyrics to the version of #40 that everyone always wants to hear (yoshi's).. I've always wondered why he doesn't just listen to the recording.

I like coming to this place to discuss...so much hate and negitive vibes on DMBc. Glad you all like Mercy as much as me. If this is the "manican in the window to promote me coming in to shop" then I think this is a great look into what the album has to offer! Stop being negitive, good lyrics too

Agreed plus I see this song very good in the studio and full band

May have been mentioned, but the boxes updated on dmband.com. Now there is a section labeling all tour dates and still the marketing box for the summer tour. Seems pointless since both link to the same tour page.

And Dave's last version (fro SPAC 08) clocked in at under 3 minutes. Yoshi's was 17 years ago. That version is never coming back.

Is it odd that Mercy reminded me of the lost songs like Toy Soldiers, Build You a House, Dressed in Black, etc? The song doesn't sound exactly like them but something about the subtle guitar part and way he sings the song.

The three chords he hits in the chorus of Mercy remind me a touch of the verse in Pig.

And speaking of Pig, imagining what it might have been like to hear a solo, acoustic version of that song leading up to the release of BTCS kind of puts "Mercy" in a whole new light for me.

I was just thinking about this. There really isnt much too Pig's guitar part at all either. People would have been saying the same thing about his guitar being bland on that as well.

Toy soldiers had a pretty awesome, hypnotic guitar riff though haha.

I personally like the SPAC version better than Yoshi's even though it's shorter. I would be very happy if something similar to SPAC 08 is on the album.

Anytime between 30 seconds from when I type this and the start of the tour on May 18th, I imagine. I would guess that we'll hear in the next few weeks.

Re: Progress updates - Stay on topic!

I only got to listen to the song once this morning but I definitely liked it. It felt much more like a well thought out song from a lyric and structure standpoint than other DMB songs from recent times. Musically it reminded me of Heathcliff's Haiku Warriors, but I only heard it once so I could be way off there.

Mercy has so much potential to be incredible. Just listening i could imagine riffs by jeff and rashawn and everyone else playing into their parts...this song is glowing with potential and I can't wait to hear it.

Reminds me of Pig meets Light Lift Me Up.

That's what I thought about too. Toy Soldiers is very simple, but it has something you love to hear.

Which implies the music dave is playing is very irrelevant to the overall song... stefan thought it rocked last night but didn't know what song it was? gonna be a gem

We all know how much dave respects tim.. any chance this is a tim reynolds guitar song? I would be ecstatic if they let tim loose with the acoustic to actually write a song with dmb..

the guitar by dave is incredibly subtle..

This is all such a tease. Just give us the music boys.

My guess is an album announcement next week tuesday after lillywhite finishes his "last week of tweaks"
