Sort of. It's not like Everyday though, Dave and Ballard didn't write the band's parts for them. It is much more like the 90's, where ideas started with Dave, and then evolved/developed with the band. Which has me very excited.

So can anyone give a quick update on what we know about this album so far? Any new twitter info within the past 3 weeks or bits from Boyd's interview with Cali?

not that this is relevant, but...Two Door Cinema Club today announced their new album would be coming out Sep 4th and posted a 2 min video on their site with some behind the scenes stuff and showed album cover, name (Beacon) and tracklisting. Along with a pre-order for limited signed copies. They recorded in April. Those crazy Brits must have their shit together more than us.

Steve produced it.
55 or so minutes,11 tracks.
All new songs aside from Sweet.
Layers galore.
Dave wrote material and came to studio prepared.
Band feels its more to its roots (per BT)
Fall-September release
Piano guest on If Only from Power Tower.
It's named,but not known yet.
3 or so fan have heard it. Rate it a mix of BS and BTCS.
Most epic closing song on any cd (think about this tidbit for a while) per listeners,Steve and Stefan. 9 plus minutes of Floyd sounding jam.

So it seems the boyd interview didnt bring us any new information.. i guess we'll just have to wait anywhere from a minute to a month for any more information.

Perhaps I'm not the first person to state this, but hearing there is a transition between Mercy and Gaucho, it definitely ties the two songs together in theme in a much nicer way than if they were separated on the album. I'm excited to hear how the whole album is packaged, since there is obviously some deeper thought given to its arrangement.

you may want to read that again. he's saying all the songs on the record are new, except for sweet, which we heard last year

The whole album is new songs. Sweet is the only exception: it's on the album, but we heard it before.

listening to the studio version of gaucho, i believe the hat hits by carter to start the song might be some sort of #41 > say goodbye style transition. i believe that the mercy outro jam will act as some kind of an interlude between the two songs.

I don't see a transition between gaucho > sweet. studio gaucho fades out in the end with the kids talking in the background.

The flute one? interesting...hadn't heard this. Lillywhite did confirm on twitter that Jeff plays some flute on the new album.

And why do people think that there is a segue from Mercy to Gaucho all of a sudden? Unless I missed it, no one who listened to the album said there was. They DID say there was one between Gaucho and Sweet.

Hopefully that will be my only skip section of the album. That kids part in Gaucho already drives me nuts, now add that leading into sweet, my least fav of the new songs, that has fast forward written all over it
