Re: John Mayer

So you want just bluesy Mayer and nothing before that?

Re: John Mayer

I want to see blusey mayer live. I have loved pretty much everything he has done up until B&R. But my end all be all mayer to see live is trio/Webster Hall mayer.

I listened to Born and Raised the other day. Wasn't blown away by it. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Yeah, I'm kind of the same way. But, I've grown to appreciate what he puts out. I didn't think I would dig this folk stuff because he can shred so good, but his songwriting is just as good as his shredding.

I could either John Mayers and be happy. The bluesy and the folk/pop. I'm just a fan of his music. There's songs I don't like, but overall I love all his stuff.

Re: John Mayer

Listened to the full album (finally) on the beach during my vacation last week. I'm in love with this album. The only songs I'm not big into are Love is a Verb and Shadow days.

Re: John Mayer

So are we all in agreement that love is a verb is the worst song on the album? I still like it though

If I Ever Get Around to Living and A Face to Call Home are my two least favorites on the album.

I still have no idea why Portable Heart isn't on this album.

No, I still loathe Shadow Days. That song is so much worse than Love is a Verb.

I love if i ever get around to living. A face to call home is probably bottom 3 behind verb and shadow days. I still listen to part of this album almost every day.

Not to mention a break in the clouds, the hurt, and taking on water. They all would have fit on B&R.

I was thinking today, how cool would it be that since John can't tour or sing at all, if he just put out an all instrumental guitar album sometime around fall. If I were him i would try something cool like that to sort of "make up" for not being able to promote or tour this album. Obviously it hasn't hurt sales though haha

Re: John Mayer

Quote:
John Mayer felt ‘humiliated’ by Taylor Swift’s song

John Mayer felt “really humiliated” by the song Taylor Swift supposedly wrote about their rumored romance, insisting it was “a really lousy thing for her to do.”

The 22-year-old country star was romantically linked to the rocker, 34, in 2009 after they collaborated on a song for his album Battle Studies, but neither of the stars confirmed the story.

Swift subsequently released a track called Dear John on her Speak Now record and the harshly-worded lyrics prompted speculation she had written the song about her reported fling with Mayer.

The Your Body Is a Wonderland hitmaker has now spoken out about the track, accusing Swift of “cheap songwriting” and of making him “feel terrible”.

He tells Rolling Stone magazine, “It made me feel terrible. Because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”

Mayer also insists Swift never consulted him about the track and it took him completely by surprise, adding, “I never got an email. I never got a phone call. I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I’d already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you’ve ever been, someone kicked you even lower?…

“I will say as a songwriter that I think it’s kind of cheap songwriting. I know she’s the biggest thing in the world, and I’m not trying to sink anybody’s ship, but I think it’s abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, ‘Wait till he gets a load of this!’ That’s bulls**t.”
so is popping cherries without a follow up phone call buddy!

Re: John Mayer

In regards to the whole Swift thing... I think Swift could've been more artistic by keeping the song vague about who it is instead of just bluntly having his name in the song title. People write a lot of songs about heartbreak but they never flat out say the person's name.

to her credit, the phrase "Dear John" is a common figure of speech (e.g. "I sent her a Dear John" or in Dumb & Dumber "She sent me a John Deere letter, gave me a bunch of crap about me never payin' attention to her or somethin -- I dunno for sure, I wasn't really listenin'")

Though what a convenient figure of speech she chose...

Re: John Mayer

just read the full Rolling Stone article. Very good read, seems like an entirely new person. Very grounded and very regretful of when we last heard him in the news. Seems like a changed man.

Re: John Mayer

watched WTLI this weekend for the first time in a few months and i fell in love with it all over again. Such a unique approach to a live release on video. Really wish he would do an updated one with BS and B&R tossed in there. Not a B&R based concert, but more of just a Best of John Mayer type concert.

including the following:

Voodoo Chile
Vultures
Gravity
Your Body is a Wonderland
Edge of Desire
Come Back to Bed
Bigger Than My Body
Wheel
Queen of California
Age of Worry
Clarity
Covered in Rain
Why Georgia
Crossroads
Something's Missing

I agree with whoever said Shadow Days was the weakest song. LiaV isn't that bad.

Tour was cancelled dues to polyps on his vocal chords. A direct result of that breathy style of singing he has

I could see that. He's been on Common's album and Kanye's before. It could be good.

The song the guy you quoted is talking about is "born & raised", hence "the title track"..
