Haha 3 yr at 34 mil and he's 36 (but proved he's got some gas). Hopefully he doesn't peter out at 38. Papi must be livid. He just wants a 2 year deal!!!

Re: Boston Celtics

I love it. He will be fine next year and maybe we will see some decline the last two years but he can shoot. It's not like you are paying a one dimensional big man. And these rookie bigs they just picked up get 3 years learning under one the the best PFs ever. Deal is amazing imo. Plus we know Doc will manage his minutes so he can do his thing come playoff time.

Re: Boston Celtics

Celtics should just offer Ray 6 mil a year for the next 3 at this point. Ray likes being in Boston and that is double what Miami can offer. Bring the whole band back. The 3 yr plan is now an 8 yr plan.

They are the 2nd best team in the East until DRose proves he can play next year.

I'd be alright with this... really don't want to see Ray in a Heat uniform.

Heat, pacers, Celtics, bulls(without d rose). This forum is the only place I've seen anyone say ray should come back

Re: Boston Celtics

If they can bring Ray and KG back for 16 mill or so total that is a great thing. Especially since it will mean Ray would be willing to accept a bench role.

Re: Boston Celtics

Ray would be a bench player in Miami. Not a starter. Not much of a difference than staying here for more money.

Re: Boston Celtics

So right now they have

KG at 11.3
Pierce at 16,790,345
Rondo at $11,000,000
Bradley at $1,630,800
JaJuan at $1,120,440
Moore at $762,195
Williams at $915,852

That's like 43 mill roughly with Steismas qualifying offer.

That why I don't think he will go to Miami. They can only pay him 3 mill and he would be a bench player behind Wade. He would probably get more time on the floor as a Celtic even though he would still have to come off the benc and he could make more money.

Better chance to win a ring...he is not going to start anywhere he goes...he would probably rather play backup to wade then Bradley

Not so sure about that. His family means a lot to him right now (going by what he has done and said in the past) and he can make more money here. The best thing for his family is to stay put.

The bolded is just wrong. He could start on a shit load of teams. More than he wouldn't start for.

Re: Boston Celtics

Not surprising. He'll go to Miami. Hopefully they go after Mayo. He'd be a great 6th man for this team.

We are going to trust tanguay? heard him say that on csn earlier. There is a chance ray will leave obviously but 98%? Give me a break.

Re: Boston Celtics

I think Mayo off the bench makes more sense than Ray. Mayo is better at creating his own shot.

I'd love to see how he came up with 98%

Tanguay used to be one of my favorite people around here, but he is borderline unbearable now

Re: Boston Celtics

If Ray leaves I would think that he really doesn't like Rondo. He'd be taking half the money to go to Miami, and while it gives him a better chance at a ring I don't think it's a significantly better chance.

Re: Boston Celtics

NBA cap space issue is so fucking complicated.

Given the cap holds currently on Boston's books for the team's own free agents, including Brandon Bass, Jeff Green, Allen, and others, the Celtics are still considered an over-the-cap club. If they were to renounce their rights to some free agents, the Celtics could carve out some cap space, but it's probably more likely that they'll use their mid-level exception in their pursuit of a shooting guard.

Does this mean they can sign Green, Bass and Ray and still offer a mid level to someone else?

Re: Boston Celtics

I don't think Bass will be back. He's asking for like $7-8 million, which he's not worth.

How much is their cap hold on bass? Equivalent to last years salary?
