If you don't own any of them, it is a serious no-brainer buy at that price.

And Memento is great.

The price is pretty killer. I still cant figure out how they are packaged though. This was written in an amazon review:

"All of the Blu-ray releases in this set are just repackaged versions of what has been available previously, there is NO new actual disc content."

So I can't figure out of they have all of the discs together in a new package or if they have all of the blu-ray's normal packaging together in a box. Personally, I hate when they lump everything together cause I organize my blus in alphabetical order But if that is something that doesnt bother you, then I would say definitely get this collection. Also from the amazon review:

"In addition to movies, the set has the following exclusive content: 10 Collectible Photo Cards, 40 Page Photo Book and an (up to) $8.00 Movie Cash Credit to see "The Dark Knight Rises" in theaters."

So you're almost getting a Dark Knight Rises viewing for free too. Thanks awesome.

Memento the Lions Gate one is much better than the Sony release. The one in this set is the good one, go for it! All great Blu-ray's. Insomnia, Inception, BB, TDK, Memento, they all look and sound terrific.

Re: Blu-Ray is awesome

Does the Lions Gate release of Memento have all the bonus features the SE DVD did, like being able to watch the movie in chronological order?

If so, I might buy this set, and sell off my individual movies to cover the cost. Should, at the very least, be able to break even. Could probably sell them each for $10 and come out on top.

I think all those movies are going for 8-10 bucks at best buy or amazon brand new.

BD.com

While this new Blu-ray doesn't offer the kind of cool "chronological" option of the Special Edition DVD, it does have both new and returning supplements:

Feature Commentary by Director Christopher Nolan is incredibly interesting and well done, albeit in Nolan's veddy, veddy understated British way.

Remembering Memento (HD; 7:44) has Nolan talking about the genesis of the project and its filming.

Anatomy of a Scene (SD; 25:15), from the Sundance Channel, actually is more of an overall look at the film and its place within the noir genre.

IFC Interview with Christopher Nolan (SD; 23:51) is somewhat repetitive, given the supplements above, but is relatively informative.

Original 'Memento Mori' Short Story by Jonathan Nolan

Tattoo Sketches offers an up close look at Leonard's body art.

Leonard's Journal shows pages from Leonard's diary.

Re: Blu-Ray is awesome

Universal haven't been the best studio when it comes to their catalogue...but the work they're doing on Jaws sounds very promising. I guess when the director involved has a lot of clout they won't just do their usual edge enhancement, digital noise reduction jobbies.

Imagine if Criterion were responsible for ALL home video releases? :P

Re: Blu-Ray is awesome

So apparently if you pre-order Ted on blu-ray you can get a free ticket to see it in the theatre. Isn't that a little bit like putting the cart ahead of the horse?

We've always believed that the perceived quality boost that comes from using high-end cables is really just a trick of the mind (read: justifying the ridiculous cost of premium cables to yourself) -- if you've dropped enough cash, you can probably hear anything you want. Still, our belief is one thing -- cold hard proof is another, and it looks like a group of 12 self-professed "audiophiles" recently couldn't tell the difference between Monster 1000 speaker cables and plain old coat hangers. Yeah, coat hangers. The group was A-Bing different cables, and unbeknownst to them, the engineer running the test swapped out a set of cables for coat hangers with soldered-on speaker connections. Not a single one was then able to tell the difference between the Monster Cable and the hangers, and all agreed that the hangers sounded excellent. No wonder Monster has to rig HD displays. Still, we bet people still fall for the hype -- oh hey, if you're looking for the ultimate in sound, we've got half a meter of oxygen-free, triple-wrapped double-insulated Sonically Shielded AmpliSized Egyptian Llama cable here that we'll part ways with for just a couple grand.

No moreso than HK, Yamaha, Marantz, Sony, Onkyo, Pioneer, etc.
Is this post actually in reponse to someone, have something to do with Blu-ray or did you really sign up to a Dave Matthews Band fan site to post negatively in a Blu-ray thread about Denon?

Re: Blu-Ray is awesome

Was trying to hook up my Zune to my TV with my Monster Cable and it just wouldn't work. I took the Monster Cable back to Best Buy and they suggested this cable. Not only did it plug my Zune into my TV perfectly, it turned it into an Ipod shuffle. Thanks Best Buy!

There's really no point in spending money on a nice audio system if you're not going to connect it all with a product like that.

I spent $300 on my speaker cables for my front speakers in 2004; Ultralink 10ft Excelsior Bi-wire.

D'oh!

Sweet cables though, very impressive looking.

When did Royal Tenenbaums get announced for blu-ray criterion? I already have the DVD criterion, but I may have to upgrade. Definitely one of my favorite Wes Anderson movies.
