Re: Dating is miserable

I have a question about Christmas shopping. The gf and I will be at seven months by Christmas. What's a good price range of a first Christmas gift(s)?

I'd say $100-$200. Cute/sentimental gifts. Nothing too extravagant.

Good. What I've been looking at falls under that category.

A ring could make this thread interesting.

Speaking of Christmas gifts, is buying her a certificate for a professional massage a good gift? I started to freak out a bit about what to get her since she said she already has my birthday and Christmas gifts ordered. By Christmas, we'll have been official for almost three months and dating for almost five.

I think the massage is thoughtful since she's been super tense, super stressed and she was prescribed muscle relaxants for awhile because of it.

Kind of in that same boat of not knowing how much to spend.

Give her your own massage! That way a happy ending is appropriate

All kidding aside, a relaxing day for herself is a nice gift indeed

    Glad this came up.

The only lady I make the whoppy with is a big cuddler. I am fine with it as long as I'm not sleeping. if I'm sleeping leave me alone. I thought for christmas I'd get her a huge stuffed animal. That way she always has something to cuddle if i'm not there. Thoughts?

I thought about going the massage oil and then giving her one myself route, but given that she actually needs one, I figured maybe a professional would be better

I got my girlfriend a massage gift certificate early on. I think it was probably her birthday, which was only like 5 weeks after we met, which made my situation a little confusing. But we were fairly serious pretty early on.

I would've also agreed with $100 or thereabouts, in line with what was posted above about $100-200, only down here in the south, salaries are a little lower/life costs less

Yeah, most places around here I've looked at offer 60 mins for like $75. I think that's overkill at all.

    you do think it's overkill?

That sounds right around typical for an hour massage, although when you purchase a GC you should (I think) include the tip, usually 15%.

There are also lots of massage type things on livingsocial, half off depot, scoutmob, those types of things if they're in your area. But some may feel differently about purchasing Christmas gifts that way.

Groupon recently had a deal in my area that you got two massages at a local place for $35...if I'm on the receiving end of that gift, I don't give a fuck where you got it, all I know is that now I'd be getting two massages!!

For Valentine's day my girl got us a couple's massage from half off depot and I didn't care it was a "deal" type thing in the slightest. It was my first massage. Wasn't a fancy spa or anything, just like in some office complex. But it was good and when we were done they offered to let us come in for the same service at the same amount she paid which was awesome. We still haven't returned though

What kills me in my relationship now is that October, November, December will from now on be otherwise known as anniversary month, her birthday month, and Hanukkah.

Not to mention Valentine's Day 2 months later

At least your birthday isn't a week before Christmas like mine. Kind of feel bad for my girlfriend.
