No issues whatsoever with Cal at #2. He gets the guys he wants and he knows how to coach them. Are there better X and O guys out there than him? Absolutely. But I think putting anyone but Cal at #2 would be silly.

Bo is much more reliant on guys fitting his system than Self. If you take 12 random guys and give them to Bo and Self, Self would do better with the roster much more often than Self.

Cal gets a B+ or A- for his in-game coaching. My point was that the writers of this article and everyone on earth not named sbuzz understand that recruiting is the single most important aspect of being a successful college basketball coach. That's why Cal was #2.

That's not at all what the article states in its opening, but I can understand linking the two things, sure.

Still, I have made my point very clear that I was not talking about the recruiting portion of things but rather just the actual coaching of a basketball team. I think Bo is better at that than Self.

I think Bo is better at that than the #2 coach too, but I don't want you to get too upset, so I won't say it.

my apologies. I love Roy. Was just using him as an example of a coach that has never had to coach up talent at a bottom tier program. How many coaches out there start their career at a school like Kansas and retire at a school like North Carolina?
