Lady and Gentlemen, welcome to the 2016-17 Ants NHL Thread Awards Show.

Please join me in thanking our dear Barbogast, who reached out to me a couple months ago, offering his services. He ended up doing the bulk of the work, and I'm very grateful for his generosity. Doing these silly awards every year is one of my favorite things, but it's always refreshing to get a new perspective, especially one as creative as his. Thanks Barbs!!!

And now, on to the awards!

*Vezina - hailtopitt. The anchor of his team’s fanbase, hailtopitt is always there when his team needs him.

*Adams - ~Crashintome89~. In a group filled with Flyers fans, Crash’s leadership and guidance does not go unnoticed.

*Calder - TheLastPig. This was our first full year with TLP, and it was a productive one and certainly deserving of the Calder.

*Selke - lockman21. Lockman’s keen ability to produce high level posts that both go on the attack while successfully defend his point wraps up this year’s Selke.

*Byng - swordo84. Such a delightful poster, and finally got to see his team have some success this year.

*Richard - TMoore4075. No matter what, Tim will always have the highest shooting percentage out of any of us. The guy leads the post count by almost 2,000!

*Norris - unccrombie. This guy defends the Rangers better than Brian Leetch ever did.

*Conn Smythe - bradshaw06. We didn’t see bradshaw too much throughout the year, but he came on strong for the playoffs and has been a big part of his team’s run.

*Hart - dmbetc. Our captain, the heart and soul of our thread, Sarah is the MVP.

*Lappy Award for best chirps (is this your 4th consecutive??) - JRS1386

*Henrik Lundqvist award for being overly dramatic but always dedicated – aeroshady

*Damien Cox award for most interesting hockey columns - Roose13

*Jaromir Jagr award for being old, but still cool - salrx95

*Doug Glatt award for best enforcer – Lcsulla

*Ted Leonsis award for most banners - Brohan_Santana

*Mario Lemeuix award for excellence combined with poise – Dramageek

*Phil Kessel award for general awesomeness – jrkarger

*Jordan Eberle award for going missing for long stretches, but always returning with a bang – MrMikeD

I would like to work hard next year for one of the top awards. I felt I raised my posting to another level this year, but I still came up short of where I was hoping to be.

As the Golden Knights are on the real NHL schedule against other real NHL teams, I guess that makes them an actual real team in reality.

Seriously, though, you can debate the merits of having another expansion team, but it won't do the league any good to have a team that utterly fails to be competitive for a decade. See Coyotes, Phoenix/Arizona, and Thrashers, Atlanta. The expansion draft affected every team, and the more stocked teams like Chicago and Washington could only protect so many.

I always think of CBJ because thought they could be a great market bc of location but they sucked for 10 years so of course it was tough to keep afloat.

I'll be honest guys, I'm just trying to get us to a new page here so I can post the awards up top.

Sure is a lot of chatter that we might even land 2 top 6 like, say duchene and eberle.

Snow making a push , I think, with all our young talent and assets to get a more competitive team now to then resign JT and be a solid playoff team from the get go.just my honest opinion.

Eberle's just been traded to the Isles, apparently. lol

Sad to see him go for sure. Had a down year, but I'd still like to see him sporting the orange and blue. Cest la vie I guess. The return should be decent.
