I am getting really annoyed with people who are shorthanding etcetera, "ect." that IS NOT the correct way to shorthand it. It is actaully shortened "etc." for the first three letters of the word. I know this because I was reprimanded for using the incorrect shorthand back in the third grade. Hello people!

I swear some people did not pay attention to grammar in elementary school or just did not have the fundamentals drilled into them.

Also, the lingo of generation "tween"- won= one; 2= to, two or too; wut= what (that one really rubs me wrong), with them. Holy hell it bothers me!

I really don't acknowledge people that talk like that. However, the only thing that is hard is that text messages are limited to so many characters sometimes you have to say "2" for "too" or "4" "four". But in general conversation, sometimes I get confused on what these people are trying to say because they are using lingo crap!

Wow, that's funny. You would dispise me in real life. I suck at proper grammer. Do you correct people at work? I had a prof who would always say:
That's Yuge (you-juh) instead of huge.

People that pronounce the "WH" in words like what and why..almost sounds as if their saying it as "hwhy" or "hwhat"

People that can't spell simple words....also people that use a lot of abbreviations while chatting on msn or whatever

Friends that constantly get spyware, malware, all sorts of pop-ups and ask me to fix 'em time after time after time..almost as if they've never learned

I think that sometimes it has to do with the professor's background. If English is not their first language, "H"'s could be a problem. Kind of like a speech impediment. My old boss could never get my name right because she couldn't get her tongue around the "R".

et cetera (two words, it's latin) is what is being abbreviated to etc. not etcetera. different words.

and this is what dictionary.com says about february:

point is, words aren't always pronounced phoenetically in English.

my post went way over you head. people that are trying to be hyper-grammatical in this thread have been incorrect. i was correcting some of the fallacies. february can be pronounced both the way you say is incorrect and the way you say is correct. and the guy that was getting on people for abbreviating et cetera incorrectly wasn't even abbreviating the correct word. that's the point.

and steve, "good" is an adjective and "well" functions as an adverb (in this case). I (subject) am (linking verb) good (adjective - subject compliment). I (subject) am (linking verb) doing (action verb) well (adverb).

Here's a dumb thing that bothers me:

When a guy and a girl are driving together in a truck, and the girl is sitting in the middle of the bench instead of being in her seat. Hicks.

Also, along these same lines, I hate when couples sit on the same side of the booth in restaurants. For some reason, this freaks me out.
