so, ABI > Grey Street Encore?

im still wondering whats so special and great about this encore. 1 song has no substance, and the other is a shell of its former self. to me, that makes a shitty encore.

Re: so, ABI > Grey Street Encore?

I think it's awesome. Two of my favorite songs meshed into a single lengthy jammed out encore. First time I heard it on Hollywood Bowl N2, I didn't know Grey street was following it and it blew my mind.

This is going to turn into you bashing 2007 again, right?

But anyway, not a fan of ABI-->Grey ending the tour, but I loved the ABI-->Watchtower encores that year. Songs went perfectly together.

Re: so, ABI > Grey Street Encore?

I like ABI, and yeah Grey Street ain't what it used to be, but I can tell you that being there and suddenly realizing what was going on was a really special moment I'll never forget. Also, people say they don't try enough crazy shit, well, this was one time they did, and it was pretty interesting how it transitioned.

In 2007, all i went to was the 2 nite Hollywood Bowl shows. I had a FUCKING BLAST! N2 is one of my fave shows of all time. Something was in the air, just a special night. The ABI>Grey St was really cool and unpredictable. One of the best things Butch Taylor has ever contributed (and the last on a tour at that).

So, 2007 was good for me. Deb, I'm sorry you have a bad time at shows year in and year out because you go into a show expecting to run into Dave backstage and he wants you to make the setlist.

It was one of the few times that I know of that the band have actually done a true segue, i.e. blending the songs together as opposed to just playing one song directly after the other.

I had never listened to it until just now. While song wise it might not be the best encore it is pretty sweet listening to it.

I just took a listen and now i'm mad that ABI will sit on the shelf until a new keyboardist joins DMB. Everyone can bash stand up all they want but American Baby Intro live is a killer. And this version is no exception beautiful transition

Re: so, ABI > Grey Street Encore?

Just listened to it first time and its a very very nice transition/segue. I recommend listening to it if you haven't. I wish the band would do this with more songs.

Re: so, ABI > Grey Street Encore?

Why question it? It was just a different encore then people were accustomed to at that time where they repeated encores a lot. Very fun transition.

You are the biggest broken record on this site, worse than MistreatedLewis. Dude, we get it, you have a hard-on for the year 2000, you hate Grey Street without the 3rd verse, LWS is better than BS, youve hated the majority of recent tours, youre a badass. Awesome, Congratulations.

FTR, ABI -> Grey Street is one of the most unique and creative things the band has done. i thought it was awesome.

Re: so, ABI > Grey Street Encore?

your only argument about songs is that they are "shells" of what they once were, so what you saw a couple shows in 2000, that doesn't mean the songs from then can't get better with time.

people on ants focus way to much on years, so 2007 wasn't an amazing year to most ants, 10/2/07 is a great show, very unique with a great encore.

Depending on the main set and the quality of the Grey Street, this encore would be disappointing at best.

Do we seriously not have anything better to discuss than one single encore that occurred two summers ago? Great example of you and the 80/20 rule.

It's pretty easy for me to make the judgement that I would have been disappointed had I been there. It's also easy for me to make the judgment that ABI was crap, because it always is, and this is clear on the tape.
