The Talking Heads' status as an iconic band has absolutely nothing to do with this argument. I love plenty of bands that I would never, ever want to see DMB cover. As far as BTDH's status as a song in the rotation, it's a decent cover at best. It's better than alot of the newer songs DMB has chosen to cover, but it's not as good as many of DMB's older cover songs.
And the post you're quoting never said that BDTH wasn't better than alot of what's on Stand Up or Everyday, but rather that there are numerous classic DMB tunes that he'd rather see. I agree with him. When so many great DMB songs have gone unplayed, it's incredibly disappointing that this song steals a setlist spot away from the songs that made us fans of DMB. I don't know about you, but when I pay to see a band, I want to see that band's songs over a bunch of covers.
I can think of at least 20 unplayed DMB songs that I'd like to see come back before BDTH gets another play.
