Re: P-bass vs. J-bass

Fender makes these basses, although there are many copies floating around. The "P Bass" is the Fender Precision Bass. It is the standard bearer of vintage 50's era rock & roll. It typicly has a single coil pick-up, and is similar looking to the Telecaster.

The "J-Bass" os the Fender Jazz Bass. Besides being more high end "deluxe model", it has a brighter tone and therefore is used more in R&B and of course Jazz where bass is more prominent. It has two single coil pick ups and has a more full sound.

Re: P-bass vs. J-bass

The neck on a jazz bass is more slim, so after owning one P-bass, I now have 4 Jazz basses
