Va. Beach Show

Been going to DMB shows since 1999 (over 40 shows), The recent Va. Beach Show (8-7-09) with the exception of Lie In Our Graves, Crush & Two Step, it was a pretty lame setlist. I mean 9 songs off the Grugrux King? Nothing like ramming the new album down our throats! Don't get me wrong, the new CD is good, but play'n 9 songs is a bit much. Personally i think a piece of the band died with Leroi and i don't know if they will ever be the same. I never thought i'd here myself say this but i think i'm going to layoff DMB shows for awhile, been to (4) this year and yes the energy has been there at times, but it's just not the same........

Re: Va. Beach Show

I was there and I have been to 33 shows. Let me tell you this. You are wrong. This show was a great night.

Solsbury Hill
Shotgun
Two Step
LIOG
Crash
Crush
You Might Die Trying
Jimi Thing
Grey Street
And to be honest the new album songs were GREAT. And for the record there were only 8 songs off Big Whiskey not 9.

I don't understand the significance of green light, report post, and quote in the OP. Also, it's an album tour. They always do this.

Re: Va. Beach Show

album tour=boring sets I am very glad I only went to 2 shows. Every night is basically the same. There is little to no variety especially in a two night stand where you hear 5-6 of the same songs. I wouldnt mind all the BW if the tour had variety although its starting to pick up in the second half of the tour.

Re: Va. Beach Show

yeah dude, if that set bothered you, you ought to not be going to shows. I was at hershey this year and had a fucking blast, and they played pretty much all songs that are in the lower 50% of tunes of theirs I love. But you know what, I still loved it.

If you dont like seeing them then dont, we dont want to hear about your bitching though, sorry.

God forbid someone does not like what the band is doing. I didnt know we had to be lemmings on here. Its a place to express opinions not fall in line and agree with what everyone else is saying. Sorry for saying that hearing 5-6 songs repeated in a two night stand bores me. I just thought for $100 we might hear variety.

Re: Va. Beach Show

I went to five shows this year and had a great time at all of them...Everyone who is complaining about hearing too many big whiskey songs, think of it this way they just released a new album and most fans only attend one show a year and want to hear the new songs played. To be honest I thought VA beach was kick ass this year and The only songs they played at that show that I haven't heard yet this year was Solsbury Hill, and Shotgun. Who can complain with that?? oh yea and THE BAND WAS ON FIRE THAT NIGHT!!

Re: Va. Beach Show

it was the only show i could make this summer, i'm from NC, kinda mad how they skipped NC for the summer tour, i know they did it in the spring but we didnt get any of the new songs, save spaceman, ftwii and wia, i was hoping to hear time bomb, but yeh the band was def on fire that night lithog, seven, shake me, all of them sounded right on, plus boyd on liog was ridiculous, however it was a kid in the balls to see the set list from the next night with what the band has done in va beach the past few years, halloween, full band some devil, joe lawlor on 41, R&R... the band was amazingly on fire, the setlist notsomuch..
