Song of the day (best version discussion) - American Baby Intro
Per request today's song is 'American Baby Intro'

so far we've done these songs, here's the consensus:
MINARETS - versions from 95 era basically, 'Tomorrow never knows' intro, BOWA release from that year
LAST STOP - Live in chicago release,
TYPICAL SITUATION - no real consensus, maybe we'll come back to it.
WAREHOUSE - Piedmont release and BOWA Live Disc release
PROUDEST MONKEY - studio release was the most popular, with 6.7.96 in second, 3rd Rothbury 08.
SEEK UP - 7.30.01, honorable mentions to RR95 and Gorge realease '02.
SAY GOODBYE - BOWA release had the most votes, Live trax 3 in 2nd.
BARTENDER - 8.19.08 at the Staples Center, a lot of mention for Folsom field.
TWO STEP - '08 and '09 versions DC/MSG/Alpine/Starlake. RR95 and Central park.
#41 - 4.20.02, ,Listener Supported, studio was popular too.
SHOTGUN - 6.10.06 seemed to be the favorite
DANCING NANCIES - 9.24.03 Central park, honorable mentions to RR95
TOO MUCH - LT8 8.7.2004, LT2 Golden gate (best outro in my opinion) also Central Park
OSW - LT5 Meadow Brook, MI 8.23.95. LT2 Golden Gate SF and Piedmont Release.
JIMI THING - 9.24.03 Central Park Release w/ Warren Haynes

CRUSH - this one had the most studio votes of any song, Studio wins with a close Live Trax 2008 in 2nd.
EVERYDAY - Tie between BOWA disc with Vusi and America: A Tribute To Heroes - Dave solo
BOWA - Studio version was took 1st. Tied in 2nd is WH8v1 and RR '95 with a lot of votes as well.
Rhyme & Reason - 9.20.09 Camden, NJ w/Robert Randolph

The only two ABI's I really listen to are the one on the 2007 Summer Sampler and the Hollywood Bowl one that goes into Grey Street. So one of those I guess.

The outro jam goes a little long but the main part of the song is just perfection...if you like this song...which I do

A few of my favorites:

9.12.05 has that really great jam
8.12.05 has Rashawn and Eric Krasno. Very early, jazzy take on it
3.24.07 is ferocious, but I can't listen to it (fucking whistler!)
11.30.05 is stellar
9.29.07 is cool the way its beat overlaps the beginning of Ants' snare hits

and i don't think you should've put 9.20.2009 as 'the best version' of Rhyme and Reason. it was played 2 days ago, not everyone has heard it. i'm not even sure it got the most votes in that thread and most of the votes were from attendees.

Without a doubt, this is the best for me as well. Carter is absolutely unreal on this, some of the best drum work of his I've ever heard.
