My Central Park-esque sprint to the front of ACL stage (video)

So I got to Zilker Park around 9 a.m. on Saturday and hung out with some other Ants who had been there since 6 a.m. (and I thought I got there early) We all waited for the gates to open to head to the Livestrong stage where Dave played that night.

Just thought it would be fun to try and record the 500 yard run. Quite the adrenaline rush. The other Ants in this video are Kevin, JD, JD (Yes 2) and Tommy - picture attached.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEqeFRlvuI8

Ended up working out as we hoped, and we all finally got to see DMB from the front row, without having to pay big bucks for the tickets.

Here is the Jimi Thing I recorded from the night:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PV_WrnxkRM

All in all, hell of an experience, and waiting at the stage all day wasn't that bad because we still got to see some great bands. It was fun finding creative ways to piss without leaving your spot all day

What's amazing is how much less muddy it was that morning compared to later in the day considering it didn't even rain on Sunday.

hahaha... I love it. Well done. Music is epic.

It's quite a feeling. I made that 'same' run at Central Park. Wish mine was recorded. Oh wait, it was , I'm on the CP dvd.

Can someone post a vid or explain the CP "run"? I want to hear some good stories, haha.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much out of that video. But that music was indeed epic and made me laugh. Great video

I like the people when you're like halfway there giving you tips and you take their advice and quickly turn around and say, "Thank you." I don't know just had me laughing.

The CP "run" was when they opened the gates for the Central Park concert and people sprinted the distance (not sure what it was) from the gates to the stage to try and get the best available spots. It's on the Central Park DVD. Pretty entertaining.

Well I decided that the sandals were slowing me down, and I said thank you to the people who threw me my towel because I dropped it in the act of picking up my sandals and didn't realize it.

this reminds me vaguely of that video of the kid breaking the back window of his car a half hour before the show because he left his tickets and keys inside

Do you mean the back window as in a passenger window or do you mean the back window as in the back windshield? This is important.

Did they break out the passenger window to get their tickets or the back windshield? If they broke out the back windshield they might be too stupid to exist and someone needs to eliminate them.

Re: My Central Park-esque sprint to the front of ACL stage (video)

That's awesome Greg, thanks for posting. I'm the guy running right in front of him with the yellow backpack on. I forgot about all the beer tent chicks yelling when we went by. Ive never run so hungover in my life but I'll never forget that feeling as I gasp for air and my hamstrings tighten, that I'm FINALLY going to get a front row show! I realize the show was short, but being able to watch, i mean REALLY watch the band is priceless. My best friend Kevin and I booked our flight back in June...one of the best weekends of my life. Austin is a great town, I definitly plan on going back!

Re: My Central Park-esque sprint to the front of ACL stage (video)

haha, awesome. Did you fall down while you were running? It looked like it.

It was also funny when you were coming around the corner about to see the stage, I thought you edited the video to put it in slow motion, but then that girl in the red shirt goes flying by you...

Wow, that front row seemed to be pretty far back in the Jimi video...very cool nonetheless.
