How Far Away Did You Move From Home?

2 Questions

1)Do you still live in the state you grew up in?
2) How far (measured in driving hours) do you live away from "home" now?

My wife and I are planning on re-locating out of the midwest next year, and it will probably be 20+ hours from home. I know some Ants are in college, but I'm thinking about when people are done with college, starting careers, buying homes, etc. Maybe if you are in college, do you plan on returning home or living else where? Just curious since we will be moving away next summer.

1) Yes, ND
2) 1 hour

Re: How Far Away Did You Move From Home?

1) I am in college in New Orleans. 10-11 hours from home.
2) I plan on living out of my home state once I'm older. Don't know how far though.

Same state. If you're going to have kids, having the grandparents around is usually a huge plus.

Yeah, my sister can attest to that. She and her husband live on the East Coast, 22 hours away.

Re: How Far Away Did You Move From Home?

Went to college about 3 and a half hours away but in the same state.

Graduated and got a job that put me back in my home town.

Live at home to save money, plus I don't know if I'll be at this location for any decent length of time.

So, to your question as how far I moved away from home? 0 hours, minutes, and seconds away.

It's not that bad. I mean I look forward to having my own place but I'm lucky to have a job and I get to save a hell of a lot of money.

Re: How Far Away Did You Move From Home?

Well I went to college about 4.5-5 hours from home in a different state, and now I'm living at home while I try to find a job, so I'm right back where I started.

Thats key to save money. One of the best decisions I made was living at home a few years ago. I saved so much money that I can actually buy a house.

It's amazing just watching my banks account and seeing how much money I'm saving. It's incredible.

I have a cell phone payment, car insurance, and split the grocery bill 3 ways with my parents. I don't have any payments outside of that. After 5 months of working I have almost $9k saved up. It's been awesome.

Re: How Far Away Did You Move From Home?

4 hours away.. thirty minutes further than school... close enough that a weekend trip to the beach and out on the boat is easy. I miss Savannah, but fully expect to be back there eventually.

I'm about 45 minutes from home in college, I'll probably stay in Boston after graduating, I like the idea of living in the city after school.

1) No, grew up in Massachusetts.
2) The other side of the world. I've never driven to NZ so I don't know how long of a drive it is.

Don't know how to define where home really is. Moved so many times it doesn't really matter I guess.

1. No.
2. Currently about 30 min. from where my parents live. But probably moving again soon...how far is Buenos Aires from Scottsdale?

Re: How Far Away Did You Move From Home?

I do not live in the same state that I grew up in. Started out in Western New York, sorta close to Buffalo, and wound up in Miami-Dade County, Florida. According to MapQuest, my current address is 1,348.21 miles from my original home, driving time 21 hours, 16 minutes.

1. Kind of. I grew up for the most part in a suburb of Milwaukee. I go to school in Chicago and live on campus, but during the summer and winter break I live at my parents' place. Ideally, after college, I'd want to move out to LA or New Mexico where I could put my foot in the door of the film industy.
2. I'm about 100 miles from my hometown.
