The Setlists from here on out..

It is usually the way of music then when you release a new studio album, almost every song gets played live. I understand it and trust me when i say I love Big Whiskey.

I can honestly say i still love the old songs just as much. I started thinking with this years tour ending, which songs off of Big whiskey are staying on setlists for following year and whats going into that vault.

Please chime in as this is really only my opinion:

Staying:

Seven: Dave loves this tune as it was a added to a few shows earlier this year including Hershey and Camden. Lots of energy with this song i can see this being kept around.

Why I Am: The whole band loves this song and its a dedication to Leroi. Its not going anywhere.

Squirm: The band loves using this tune as an opener. Great energy and has that "dont drink the water" Feel to it.

Alligator Pie: This has the same feel as Bayu in my mind. So i think this is and end of set type of tune.

Baby Blue: Dave Now has two solo songs for encore, Baby Blue and Sister. Openly admitted this was written for Leroi, it hits a soft spot for you and feel the emotion.

On the Fence:

You and Me: Ok this is the one i struggled with the most. This will either be the new Crash or turn into Dreamgirl. Both great fun songs but i see this being a loved fan favorite but not an every show song.

Time Bomb: This is a tough call because it has been used as an encore for mutiple shows this year.

Dive In: the song i heard the least of off this album. This just dosnt sound like much of a tour song.

Spaceman: i love the lead in to Cornbread but this is a song where the recording sounds better then the live performance. I see them usuing this sparingly.

Shake me like a Monkey: Its a fan Favorite. The Band can use it as openers but this will go in the "best of whats around" pile of stuff to bring out every once and a while.

In the Vault you go:

Funny the Way it is: Sadly i see this song turning in to another "i did it", and "American Baby" one and done..being played because of the video and being the first release off the album. Towards the end of the tour the song lost some Steam.

Lying in the hands of God: you can put theis in the Hunger of the great light pile. the song dosnt work well live. ,

Where have you gone The following songs have been rarley or not played at all this year:

Too Much
eh hee
Idea of You
Grace is Gone
Typical Situation
Recently(sparingly)
Say goodbye
Old Dirt Hill
Dreaming Tree(used in spring)
Rhyme Or Reason (sparingly)
Stay
Pig
What You Are
One Sweet World

Again some were played...i await 2010 because we will weed out the whiskey and welcome other classics as well...Again i love the new album..but this was the promote year lol..

You're technically brain dead, right? Lying in the Hands of God 'doesn't work well live?' Wow - seriously? Its one of the best live songs this band does.

The problem with Dive In is that Dave has admitted its a very difficult song for him to play on the guitar.

Where do you get your 'inside' information?

How often was Squirm used as an opener? And how do you know the band 'loves using it as an opener?'

Also - this thread belongs in DMBc - not Tour Central.

Lastly - how many shows did you see this year?

Re: The Setlists from here on out..

you're a moron if you think LITHOG doesn't work well live. It's going to be a beast and it's only going to get better. I think that LITHOG and Seven are the best of the new tunes live. LITHOG will be around for a long time.

I see You and Me sticking around as well as several other of the new songs. They all won't get as frequent play next year, but i think the only tune that will probably drop off a lot is Dive In.

because they opened with it 1 time all year? if this is the case then FTWII must be their most favorite opener of all time

just because they add something to a show doesn't necessarily mean that they favor the song over others. if you reverse your logic you would then be saying that they take songs out of sets because Dave doesn't like them.... I think you should have said "Dave loves this song, because he has said that he loves it"

i don't know why i'm spending so much time agonizing over the OP's post....most of it just doesn't make sense

i'm gonna stop now

As others have alluded to, LITHOG is the single best Big Whiskey song live, so there goes that theory.

dave said at the gorge that he loved this song (he played it all three nights)
and you can tell he loves it, i think hes thinking of his wife when he sings it.

oh, i know that. he has said multiple times that he loves that song. the OP said Dave loves the song because he added it to the set during a show. i was trying to make the point that it doesn't take a genius to figure out that dave loves the song...seeing as how he's said it many times...

What's your favorite BW song live then?

Did you actually get to a show? Or are you basing your opinion on tapes?
