`Proudest Monkey

I know many people dont like proudest monkey as an opener because it doesnt have the punch that dont drink the water, rapunzel, shake me, etc. have. But does your opinion change if your going to both nights at a venue and they open up the first night with it? Just curious, cause i like the mellow first night, and the louder second night....

I like the song, doesn't really matter where they play it in a show.

Great opener. It's not a bad slowness like A Dream So Real opening.

I cant believe DMB opened shows with that song... terrible

It's a studio masterpiece.

Live I love it, I will take it at any show I go to. I'm sure I feel about it as an opener.

I think it works great as a N2 opener honestly.

On another note, I think A Dream So Real worked really well Hollywood Bowl N2 if you went to N1 the night before.

Re: `Proudest Monkey

I think it was a HORRIBLE opener at Bethel.

Where I was, it seemed I was the only person who had even realized that DMB had started. It was so quiet and mellow.

I bet it was great at Alpine, where the crowd instantly got into it, but at Bethel it was bad. Worst opener I've seen.

They just need to wack off the segue into satellite....take on OSW maybe...if that even works. LT15 with tim is my fav released version so far.

Made me sick to hear A Dream So Real open up Hollywood N2 and I went to both nights. Talk about stunning the audience. At least they made up for it with Two step being next and the rest of the show kicking ass. But I dreaded hearing ADSR.

Now, PM can open any show or they can put that song anywhere in the set and I am one happy . I also love the PM > Satellite segue, although there are a few in here who don't like it. Love it! Love the song, my favorite part being where Dave mimics a monkey toward the end.

Amazing opener. Favorite studio track and LT 15 is absolutely unbelievable, I get chills everytime I hear Tim's solo. In my top 10 songs for sure.

Yea its alright, I useto to love it, but I feel like all my friends always put on songs like crash, satellite, where are you going, and everyday...simply because they are not big dave fans kno I enjoy him, but I'd rather not listen to dmb then have to always hear those same few songs on repeat

the only ones I have not grown sick of that get a lot of play too are ants, billies, and crush

I get you.... I have friends like that too. But for some reason Satellite is one of those songs for me. I think it's because that was the song that made me fall in love with DMB.

i dont really like it as an opener. i'd take pnp>>>rapunzel, seek up, ddtw, or bartender as an opener over it any day...

although, i absolutely love the song.

Re: `Proudest Monkey

Love PM as an opener, great way to ease into the set. It was a fantastic opener for Alpine N2 last year as well as great in the #2 slot at Deer Creek N1.

Tim on LT 15 on this track is SICK.

Re: `Proudest Monkey

PM really shouldn't open shows. Bethel was awful, and Scranton wasn't much better. its fine as like 2nd or 3rd though. IZOD was good after a Bartender opener. they should stop the PM>Satellite though. it is kind of disappointing knowing that after PM only Satellite is going to be next.
