Would Seven have made a good single?

Why or why not?

Re: Would Seven have made a good single?

Yes. And it might have changed some peoples perspective on DMB. However, You and Me reinforces all the cheesy DMB song stereotypes out there.

No, because this is one of their worst songs ever.

Sorry.

Agree with the bolded. Don't think it would have made a good single though. SMLAM would have been optimal.

Re: Would Seven have made a good single?

No, it's the most un-dmb sounding song they have and as we see on this site most people either hate it or love it, you want a single to be something that everyone can enjoy.

Re: Would Seven have made a good single?

nope, its a hate it/love it kind of song, not to mention one that, i think most the fans of the song will agree, works a lot better in the live setting. on the other hand, i could see how some moderate/casual fans would hear it and be like wait, thats dmb? i guess i need to check out this new album.

Re: Would Seven have made a good single?

After reading through the thread I am surprised at the hate for Seven. I remember when Big Whiskey came out it was the second coming of the greatest song by DMB I literally got ran out of threads because I did not think it was genius. What happened?

Re: Would Seven have made a good single?

you know, the more i think about it, maybe it would be. its not like dmb needs to draw in numbers of casual fans at this point, so a light radio song wasnt really necessary. i think a very unique, different song would not necessarily get lots of people to kind of like them, but maybe get a smaller amount of people truly interested in finding out more about this band. just an idea.

Re: Would Seven have made a good single?

I would say no, because i absolutely hated it at first, which probably a majority of people would feel the same way. But as of now it is my favorite off BW!

Re: Would Seven have made a good single?

Seven is awesome, but no it wouldn't have been a good single. Seven is too complicated of a song for the average radio listener to hear once and fully understand. Funny and Why I Am get the job done as singles, You and Me sucks but whatever.

I think Seven is a great song but maybe wouldn't go over so well as a single. Not "radio friendly" I don't think...great song though.

I was thinking about this yesterday while listening to Seven, actually. After considering it, I think that SMLAM would have been a better single.

Re: Would Seven have made a good single?

Absolutely not. Seven is one of my favorite songs of BW but seriously guys? Odd time sig and ridiculous lyrics/falsettos = bad radio. They did the right thing with the singles, though I would understand switching smlam with either WIA or Funny

Seven is one of the better songs this band has made in a while, you're kidding yourself if you think its a lower tier song.
