Peter Gabriel May Have Cut Dave Matthews Band From New Album

Peter Gabriel's first album in seven years is a Bob Ezrin-produced orchestral covers collection called Scratch My Back. It features reinterpretations of the folks mentioned above along with Elbow, the Kinks, Talking Heads, Lou Reed, David Bowie, and Neil Young. It's being called a "song swap," which implies some artists will also cover Gabriel, or each other, though we don't have all the details just yet.

"The Book Of Love" - Magnetic Fields
"Flume" - Bon Iver
"My Body Is A Cage" - Arcade Fire
"Listening Wind" - Talking Heads
"I Think It's Going to Rain Today" - Randy Newman
"Après Moi" - Regina Spektor or Eartha Kitt
"Waterloo Sunset" - The Kinks
"The Boy In The Bubble" - Paul Simon
"The Power Of The Heart" - Lou Reed
"Philadelphia" - Neil Young
"Mirrorball" - Elbow

Look for Scratch My Back in early spring 2010.

I believe DMB involvement was a rumor (?) Not sure if it was actually confirmed, but as of right now, it never happened or was cut.

Maybe that explains why Solsbury Hill stopped getting played this summer, definitly a bummer.

Of all the Arcade Fire songs to cover he picked "My Body is a Cage", that really baffles me so many better options.

That stinks, I thought Gabriel could have actually dont a DMB song justice, unlike some of the other covers we have heard.

I'm just a really big Arcade Fire fan and that song just doesn't do it for me. The idea of him singing "Keep the Car Running" blows my mind but you're right "My Body is a Cage" might be a better fit.

No point. To me, it was as though you were trying to come across as the resident Arcade Fire expert and spoke as if it was an absolute fact that "My Body is a Cage" is not a great song. My apologies, I went back and read my post and it definitly could be taken that way. I am by no means an expert and sorry if I came off prickish.

I think Peter could do a fantastic job on No Cars Go as well.

No worries. My real concern was that most of these DMBcers don't listen to Arcade Fire and would not be encouraged to listen to a great song like "My Body is a Cage" because of your opinion.

I think "My Body is a Cage" is a better fit for him, but "No Cars Go" is a damn fine song as well.
