Ants Marching: Intro vs. Outro

So which section of Ants Marching is better?

To specify:

Intro-From the first snare drum hit to where Dave starts singing
Outro-From the end of Boyd's solo to the end of the song

I am predicting most people will jump to choose the outro quickly, but I think the two are much closer in quality than most people typically think.

Re: Ants Marching: Intro vs. Outro

Disagree with the OP. The intro only makes me happy because I know that the outro is coming. The outro makes me cum.

they're not. Outro by a mile.

Especially the last sax riff and Dave belting out "lights down, you up and die!" one last time... was even more of a landslide back in the early days where he'd do the leap during Carter's final drum hit.

I think Roi's first sax riff in the intro is fantastic. I've been listening to the old '93 versions and his experimentation during that is insane.

I don't know how the intro can bore you.

Yeah well they don't do that anymore. Even still the best intro isn't as good as the best outro...

The intro (espeially with the jam) is absolute perfection. Nothing puts me in a better mood.

Im not one to praise daves arrangements but I think the outro arrangement of ants is very solid, I wish more of their tunes did things like this.

Re: Ants Marching: Intro vs. Outro

Yeah there is no better feeling than when Carter looks around to everyone and they go into the outro. The intro is gold, but the outro is something better than gold.

I for one loved the way it was done last summer at SPAC. Just Dave and Tim on the first verse. Amazing way to change it up.

Intro. I love how it builds into this climax and then they start all over again to actually start the song. LOVE IT!

If Jeff, Boyd, Rashawn and Carter play the intro jam very well, itīs about a million times better than the outro.

The outro is one of the best musical things I've ever heard. The intro is sick as hell, but man, you can't beat that outro (except MAYBE Last Stop Reprise).

Re: Ants Marching: Intro vs. Outro

When live, I love the intro because of the anticipation at the concert, and I love the funky bass lines Dave and Stefan switch off.

However, of course the studio cut, the outro.
