Tim Reynold's songs on 2010 tour

Just wondering how you guys would feel about dmb trying out some tim reynolds songs live. i know its a dmb show, but im interested to hear how his songs would sound with a full band behind it. or do you think his songs are better served solo tim.

I have no desire to hear Tim's songs at a DMB show. If I want to hear Tim's songs I'll go to a fucking TR3 show.

Would be cool.

But i would rather hear some more DMB songs brought out that Tim could go ahead and rape to pieces, namely: so right, BEF, mother father, Kit Kat Jam, American Baby, DIDO....

I was actually thinking today about how sweet a Dave and Tim studio album would be

Re: Tim Reynold's songs on 2010 tour

I wouldn't mind one here or there, but I don't know if the fanbase would like it. In my mind, there is only one or two that could really work with DMB.

Although.. Wind just Blew the Door Wide Open would be awesome with a DMB touch.. Carter would kill it, you're right.

Re: Tim Reynold's songs on 2010 tour

As I said before, they should do this:

Tim steps up front to the mic, with his "alien" glasses on. Then, the rest of the band puts on gas masks. Then, Tim proceeds to play Big Dick Ego Trip from the Astral Projection album. And, while that is going on, Dave running back and forth on the stage with a huge pair of hedge clippers.

I LOVE that idea. Love that album too.

Masturbate 'till your shit goes away.

I'd settle for a little tease of a Tim song when he solos.

Mercury Direct is my new favorite Tim song. I wish he'd put Parallel Universe on Itunes already.

I don't know his music well enough to have an opinion on this.

I would rather Tim strap on an acoustic guitar at a DMB show and play one of his songs by himself.

As much as I would love that at a D&T show, that would kill the vibe. I'd much rather him do one of his electric songs with the band and at least keep the energy alive.

No. This is the Dave Matthews Band. Not the lets converge all our side projects to waste already extremely limited sets....Band.

NOPE. I'm not a fan of them playing covers anyway. If they played the bulk of their catalog with reasonable regularity and then wanted to sprinkle covers here or there, then fine. Until then, no.

I assume you're opposed to any stuff from Some Devil also?

You make a good point, but the way I view it, Some Devil should have been a DMB album anyway. I don't mean to sounds close minded it's just that people pay good money to see songs written by Dave Matthews when they go see Dave Matthews Band. Not three songs by Danny Barnes for the nights in a row.

Danny Barnes is a bit of a different circumstance. They did the same two songs for three nights to get a good recording of Caveman and Road for release. And that is a rip off to people who went to the Gorge.

That said, I would gladly pay to see a set of 21 songs with a few songs being Some Devil songs, TR3 songs, or even a Mu'tet song or two. We're talking about songs written by people in the band, and while I don't see the band playing any other side project songs aside from Some Devil stuff (and maybe True Reflections if they ever decide to play it again), I think it would be nice to see a little diversity from the band. I think that's one of the reasons why I'm such a big Grateful Dead fan, because Bobby, Phil, Pigpen would sing a few songs and Bobby, Phil, Jerry, Pigpen and others wrote songs - not just one person.

I do not believe having any of tim songs played at a DMB show would be appropriate. Boyd's true reflections is another story however...
