Battle Of The Jams

Vote on your favorite jam. for all purposes of this poll the jam is considered to be the music that follows the conclusion of the lyrics. as for songs that have interpolations and lyrics in the jams such as recently and Jimi thing and the occasional #41 those are to be included.

the jams that you are voting on are not specific just think of the best version from each song and vote.

Re: Battle Of The Jams

In my opinion this is a very hard poll that will have a lot of people divided over a number of jams

Re: Battle Of The Jams

This years #41s really raised the bar in terms of actual jamming. There was a sense of the band not really knowing where they were going to end up, as opposed to most other 'jams' they do which are basically a prewritten structure of one person soloing whilst the rest of the band accompany.

Re: Battle Of The Jams

Good Poll. I went with the Last Stop reprise. I heard it this morning and I forgot how good it is. Very tough choices though, if I didn't hear it this morning (and was reminded) I prob would've went with Recently Jam. Such a catchy funky beat.

Re: Battle Of The Jams

when they play two step you know tim will solo then carter will... its not a jam its just guys trading off solos. the band doesnt really work together to form a different sound everytime they play a song.
pieces like the last stop reprise aren't jams either imo because its the same music every time its played, it just a section of the song

Yes, but he already defined what the meaning of "jam" was supposed to be for this poll.

I'm not sure if you can just simply compare each song by its best version. Like in a live context, Captain is average, IMO. Studio tLWS is awesome, but BS is butchered. So is it an amazing song or average? I would say average in all honesty, because that would logically make more sense. So basically I'm saying sometimes a song is on fire, and sometimes it's really off and lame. A better poll question might be, "Which jams are consistently played the best?" That's how I would've done it at least. In this poll's current form it's a little difficult. Actually... it's very difficult.

Edit: Also people are going to probably vote for which song they like better instead of which "jam" they prefer.
