5 CD's You Could Live the Rest of Your Life With

Okay, so you're being strategically placed on an island with only a CD player (so old, inorite?) and 5 CD's.

Which ones do you take? As new albums get released and your opinions change, change your answers. RIGHT NOW, for me, it would be:

1)Mantis-Umphrey's Mcgee
2)Man At Work-Colin Hays
3)Dark Side of the Moon-Pink Floyd
4)In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Ear:3-Coheed & Cambria
5)Unplugged-Eric Clapton

I'd probably leave behind my burnt CD that has all the versions of Machead.

Quickly thinking, without putting too much thought in it.

Do albums with multiple discs count as 1 or multiple CD's?

We'll say one. If it came in one cd case, it's one album.

Re: 5 CD's You Could Live the Rest of Your Life With

Sweet choice with Colin Hay.

As for me, right now I'd probably go with
American Football - s/t
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
John Legend - Get Lifted
Billy Joel - The Stranger
Elliott Smith - Either/Or

Shit forgot Ray LaMontagne's Till The Sun Turns Black...maybe switch Elliott Smith with that.

D+T ~ Radio City
Death Cab ~ Plans
Radiohead ~ OK Computer

Re: 5 CD's You Could Live the Rest of Your Life With

Fuh, this is hard.

Springsteen - Live at the Hammersmith Odeon, '75
Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones
White Stripes - White Blood Cells
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
Bob Dylan - Live at Royal Albert Hall

If live is not okay, make them Born to Run and, uh, and uh, a 60's Dylan album. I'm leaning towards Highway 61 Revisited.

Re: 5 CD's You Could Live the Rest of Your Life With

Sufjan-Illinois 73:52
The Beatles-White Album 93:35
Grizzly Bear-Yellow House 50:00
Jeff Buckley-Live at Sin-e 156:00
The Mars Volta-Frances the Mute 76:57

Other than Grizzly Bear, those are some long albums. All of them are endlessly fascinating to me.

Re: 5 CD's You Could Live the Rest of Your Life With

1. Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
2. Dave Matthew Band - Under the Table and Dreaming
3. John Mayer - Continuum
4. Ben Kweller - Ben Kweller
5. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend

Number 5 may seem kind of weak, it's only been out for 2 years but I can't get tired of it. I'm constantly going back to this CD

Re: 5 CD's You Could Live the Rest of Your Life With

Leonard Cohen - Live in London
Pink Floyd - Meddle (only because I've heard DSOTM so many damn times; and WYWH, Animals, and The Wall are too dark thematically to have to listen to for the rest of your life.)
Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home
Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible

Great list mate Only one I don't like personally is Sufjan. I've never gotten him.

On second look, I might switch it for Abbey Road. Yeah, let's do that:

Beatles - Abbey Road
Springsteen - Live at Hammersmith Odeon
Dylan - Live at Royal Albert Hall
White Stripes - White Blood Cells
Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones

It is all preference. And I'm just stating my preference for not listening to several of these lists.
