Hopefully you all enjoy this story and have some of your own to tell.
So I went on a mission trip to Peru over break with a bunch of high school kids and college kids. I was one of the oldest on the trip, a college student, and there were a bunch of younger high school girls on the trip. As I expected one of my college friends decided to hit on a high school girl. We wanted to talk about it amongst ourselves, but we didn't want to be very blatant so I created a codeword..."Cornbread". Whenever we saw the 21 year old and 16 year old together we proceeded to use "Cornbread" to point out the situation. Examples: There is a lot of cornbread going on over there. I think she wants some cornbread.
However, most of the people on the trip were non-dave fans and really didn't understand the use of Cornbread. I used it to describe the situation of young love, but those around me created their own definitions for the word. As the week progressed, one of these high school girls, an absolute fox, started hitting on me. I was 19 at the time and she was 16 (3 and a half year difference) so of course I had no intention of going forward with anything, so I tried to pretend there was nothing going on.
The end of the week came and we were at a fountain garden the last night. I was with a bunch of my good college friends and we were having a great time, but then the use of our codeword came up again. The 16 year old who had been trying to start something up the whole week came up to me and looked me in the eyes (imagine the most confident and intimidating 16 year old girl imaginable). She looked at me and said, "I want some Cornbread". In shock I replied, "that means a lot of things these days." She looked and smiled, tapped me on the chest, and said, "You know what I mean." She then giggled and walked away.
I turned around and said to my friend Fitz, "I gotta keep this girl away from my Cornbread."
As expected, this girl's nickname is now forever...Cornbread.
