It was her good friend's pet chimp. She was visiting and the chimp was agitated and it snapped. Why someone would have a chimp as a pet I'll never know. They can rip you apart in seconds.

The youtube video almost made me throw up, I feel so bad. No human should be allowed to have a monkey as a pet. I hope the woman who owns the monkey gets the death sentence if she is still alive.

my wife was watching oprah yesterday and this was on.....i saw it for like two seconds and nearly threw up....so gross, poor woman.

I sincerely hope the animal is not put at fault here. Its not the chimps fault its being held captive as a pet. I feel bad for the woman though, so fast her life is completely changed. Amazing what a minute can do.

where have all you people been? this was huge news and right here in ndmbc when it went down. the 300 pound chimp ate her face and hands off! i thought the news accounts were exaggerating, until i saw the victim on oprah yesterday.

the owner is nuts. she said she used to be "quite intimate" with the chimp, shared wine and they even slept in the same bed. it's a shame people are stupid... at least dogs wait for you to die before they eat you. most of the time.
