Dave Matthews Band Chances At The Grammys Just Went Up!

The Grammy buzz has been incredible lately for the band with Dave being involved in a lot of upcoming projects, but the best news of all comes just a week before the nominations are officially released.

The Grammy policy states that any artist that performed on the AMAs telecast cannot perform on the Grammy telecast.

This eliminates:
Jay-Z
Alicia Keys
Adam Lambert (thank God!)
Rihanna
Eminem
Jennifer Lopez
Green Day
Janet Jackson
Black Eyed Peas
Whitney Houston
Mary J. Blige
Keith Urban
Carrie Underwood
Kelly Clarkson
Daughtry
Shakira
Lady GaGa

It is almost a certainty that the band will perform on the show now. Also expect Taylor Swift to perform who was in London during the AMAs telecast.

These rules could always change, but the academy at this time seems pretty confident in not changing anything.

Some artists will play what they are nominated for, and part of a new song, but typically the academy requires you to play what you are nominated for. There are all sorts of rules in place.

It would certainly be nice to see the band nominated and even better to see them win but I still have an awful disliking for the snub on my man LeRoi. I'd also like to see them do Shake Me just to shake things up at the Grammys'. Now that would be cool.

could you imagine the commotion that would cause though? the song pushes 11 minutes live, which would fuck up the rest of the show thats scheduled after they perform. plus it would be the best music of the night because people would see jeff tear everyone a new one with his solo and they'll experience carter at full power when the jam climaxes. it would be unlike anything the grammys had ever seen. it would be amazing.

I don't care about the Grammy's just because I don't care about the Grammy's. It WAS an asshole move on their part not to recognize Roi, intentional or not. It was completely idiotic to recognize countless people that no one knows and ignore the sax player from one of the most popular bands in the country.

On the other hand, if invited I hope the band does play the Grammy's. I hope they win a bunch of awards. I want to see them get as much recognition for their amazing work as possible. I don't put much stake into the Grammy's at all, but some people do, and if help spread DMB's music, I'm fine with that.
